Chapter 592: Three gone and another Three in?
Chapter 592: Three gone and another Three in?
While silencing the nobles and the attendants permanently was an option she would’ve turned to if possible, Marionette hadn’t yet been given confirmation that she could do those types of things.
Marionette may be an assassin with years of experience, but she still needed the "green light" from the Family Head or other members - the problems of being the youngest.
After kidnapping the three nobles and attendants into her darkness, Marionette made her way back, managing to find her way out of pure coincidence and luck.
Continuing to stare at Millis, who had smirked and slowly turned away from her, Marionette narrowed her eyes in suspicion.
She was still on the lookout for the people who had spectated her just earlier.
Could it be that Millis was one of the four who were there?
Marionette tossed the thought into the back of her mind.
If it were Millis, she would figure it out sooner or later. And if it wasn’t, then she would still figure it out nonetheless.
It didn’t really matter to her. What did matter currently was the fact that she was getting a very pouty look from her girlfriend.
Shifting her gaze back at the Rabbit, whose cheeks were puffed out, Marionette tilted her head - still rather confused by the look she was getting.
"Could I ask why you seem to be upset?"
Lillian’s face twitched.
She then spoke in a strained voice, "Upset? No, no, no... I’m not upset. I wonder where you got that from..." Her pouty cheeks deflated, "I just wanna ask what you did and where you went off to with those 3 guys."
Marionette thought of a response, soon giving one a couple of seconds later.
"Nothing. Nothing happened, really. As for where I went with them, it was but a casual stroll."
"Oho? Nothing, eh?" Lillian smiled crookedly, "If it was really nothing, then what was the reason for me to be left behind, hm? I’m sure you still remember that I’m your attendant, currently, right? I’m supposed to be following you around, you know..."
While Lillian was sure that nothing major, besides Damien poisoning the other nobles, would happen, she couldn’t be absolutely certain.
Plus, if the Roselle family managed to somehow get wind that she wasn’t properly doing her job, it would more or less be a bad thing.
Marionette, sensing an ominous aura radiating off of Lillian, smiled slightly.
She continued to stare at Lillian, leaning the side of her face into her hand with a warm look in her eyes.
"Under normals circumstances, I wouldn’t have left you alone. This one wasn’t one of those circumstances and I’ll be sure to tell you about it when we get to our temporary residence."
Then, she leaned in, placing her finger underneath Lillian’s chin and slightly pushing it upwards - causing their faces to be dangerously close.
Marionette whispered:
"And also... When did you get so seductively possessive?"
"P-possessive?!" Lillian stammered; her crooked smile becoming wobbly as she pulled her face back, embarrassed, "Who said I was being possessive? I was just concerned that something would happen to you while I wasn’t there. That’s all!"
Watching as Lillian turned her face away with a visible blush, Marionette chuckled - leaning into the girl’s ear.
Chu.
After a soft kiss against Lillian’s ear, which caused the girl to stiffen, Marionette whispered:
"There’s nothing wrong with being possessive over me, Lillian. In fact, I encourage you to. I’d rather our feelings for one another not be so one-sided. So..." Marionette paused for half a second before breathing, "So do love me more~"
Lillian blushed intensely, her eyes and lips wobbling. She reflexively took a step away from Marionette before being pulled in by the hand.
Grabbing onto Lillian’s hand, Marionette interlocked her fingers with the girl, making sure the two were firmly connected. And like the final hammering to a nail, she said:
"Just like how you are mine, I am yours. Nothing will change that, Lillian."
Lillian, who was gazing up into Marionette’s beautiful red eyes, felt her face getting hotter and more embarrassed by the second under the Assassin’s determined gaze.
She then pushed her face against Marionette’s shoulder, hiding herself - her ears reddening.
"I love you..." Lillian muttered, her voice muffled.
Marionette smiled softly, "I love you too, Lillian."
After a while, all of the nobles of the event soon arrived at the location. And noticing this, Damien quickly stepped up to call out to everyone.
"I see that everyone is now here! I hope you all had a joyous time around my garden, experiencing all it had to offer and—hm?"
Damien, who was sweeping his gaze around again, suddenly realised that not everyone was here like he first thought. In actuality, he was missing three people!
He rubbed his chin, and as he was about to ask, an old servant from the main building skittered over to him, leaning close to his ear and whispering.
When the servant was done whispering, Damien was left with a thoughtful look on his face. "Is that so? Well, that’s rather annoying."
Damien would then direct everyone’s attention towards the doors of the main building that soon opened, "Everyone, it seems that we will be joined by a few more nobles - who had some unforeseen trouble getting here."
Walking out of the building were three nobles, ones that Lillian...
Did not recognise.
"We three apologise for arriving late. Some gang of Supervillains from the West had begun to take root recently and had unfortunately targeted our line of transport, leading us to be late." A noble spoke poshly on behalf of his group.
"It’s fine, I’m glad you three are safe and able to arrive." Damien shook his head with a welcoming look, "You haven’t missed much, in fact, we were about to move onto the next activity."
Lillian stared at the three nobles, who took turns to shake Damien’s hand, having discovered he was the host. She didn’t remember any other nobles suddenly joining in.
And she was certain of it!
’Woah, woah... What’s going on?!’ Lillian thought, slightly panicked.
While there were many paths in the game for this event, there weren’t any that would cause unrecognisable nobles to spawn in, especially this late into the event!
Although this may not seem like a big issue, it was to her. The fact that unforeseen events like this could happen wasn’t ideal for her one bit.
And now that she thought about it...
"Hey, Marionette... Where are the three nobles you went with earlier? I can’t find them..."
Marionette glanced at Lillian before humming with an indifferent look on her face. She then smirked and muttered:
"Who knows~..."
