Chapter 611: Trapped for Hours?
Chapter 611: Trapped for Hours?
Lillian proceeded to remain trapped within the basement for countless hours. But fortunately, Marionette continued to stay true to her words - visiting her once every hour.
Sometimes she would stay for as long as half an hour or as little as a dozen minutes.
Watching as Marionette left the basement again, Lillian grumbled - deeply agitated. She moved against the chains binding her to the chair, trying to free herself as she shouted in her mind:
’I hate this chair!’
Lillian wanted nothing more than to snap the chains. But she knew the moment she did, Marionette would find out.
The Rabbit sighed deeply, then went into thought.
Although being chained to a chair was quite a predicament, there was another - much bigger - predicament.
’Marionette’s veins are no longer black.’
Unlike before, when the darkness in Marionette’s veins was visibly seen crawling up her neck, it was no longer there - disappearing without a trace; as if, it hadn’t ever occurred...
’She also felt a bit different...’
Lillian felt greatly puzzled.
Had Marionette managed to somehow subdue the True Darkness without her help?
’If that’s true, then she really didn’t need my blood, after all...’ Lillian thought, oddly conflicted.
She then took a look around her basement, finding it to be a lot more populated with furniture compared to before.
There was a small table, a potted plant, another chair beside hers, and a few more; with every visit down here, Marionette would bring along something to make the basement feel more cosy.
Unfortunately, the one thing that Marionette didn’t bring down here, which she would like, was a clock!
Lillian clenched her jaws, straining her eyes, before crying out - throwing a loud tantrum:
"LET ME OUT OF HERE!"
She felt like a child being sent to the time-out corner.
She didn’t want to be here anymore!
’And judging by how many times Marionette had visited me until now, it had already been more than three hours!’
Lillian had things to do before the next day; very important things! How could she do them when she’s trapped here against her own will?!
The Rabbit felt like crying inside, stressed.
"LET ME OUT!" Lillian thrashed around, kicking her legs.
...
The two servants, who were on the otherside of the door, grew rather agitated by Lillian’s insistent screaming.
"Is this maid really from our family? Does she have something that makes her so loud?"
"She came with the Lady from what I’ve heard. And maybe, she does have some kind of Flaw that makes her act this way."
"Well, I can tell you, it’s one annoying Flaw! Why did the Lady pick her of all people?"
As the two continued to talk amongst each other, subconsciously ignoring the noises happening through the door behind them, something unexpected happened.
...
"E-eh?"
Lillian soon quieted down her tantrum as something suspicious began to phase through the wall to her side.
It had a small and crystalline body, it had disco balls for eyes and wings that flapped rapidly; it looked like a dragonfly.
’Crystalline Ghost Dragonfly?’ Lillian recognised.
Lillian knew about Crystalline Ghost Dragonfly; these monsters were usually owned and were highly sought after.
It was an excellent reconnaissance monster with its phasing and visual recording abilities.
And it was also shockingly silent.
’But what is it doing all the way down here...? And who does it belong to?’
She didn’t remember anyone in this event having a Crystalline Ghost Dragonfly.
Despite these monsters being highly sought after, they were rather troublesome to get if you weren’t willing to buy them.
In Hearth, it was said that due to the dragonflies’ lack of strength, they were highly dependent on their symbiotic relationship with other creatures.
One hunts, while the other scouts.
Thus, when someone were to try their luck in getting a Monster Shard, they would usually have to face another monster, on top of trying to keep up with the Crystalline Ghost Dragonfly’s movements, which was near impossible for anyone with average speed.
Along with that, the chance to gain a shard from it, much less a Monster Shard, was incredibly low.
It was a hassle to get, and it was sold for a high amount.
The Rabbit gazed into the dragonfly’s glimmering and reflective eyes, then watched as it disappeared a second later.
She raised an eyebrow at that, but then sensed vibrations deep underground - growing stronger the closer it got to her.
Something was coming!
’Crap!’ Lillian shouted in her mind, looking around frantically for something to help her.
She was then reminded that—
’This damn chair!’
—She was still chained.
Clink. Clink. Clink.
The clattering of the chains around her echoed around the room like jingle bells.
’Damn it...’
Split between the decisions to break free and to stay chained up, Lillian decided on another option.
Summoning a reflective glass shard into her hand, she prepared to summon the Jungle Lord the moment she got attacked.
Fortunately, that scenario wouldn’t come.
Drilling and popping out from the ground, a woman with purple hair appeared in the room.
It was Millis.
Pushing herself out from the ground, Millis dusted herself off before looking around - her golden eyes scanning over each individual thing in the room.
Eventually, her eyes landed on Lillian.
With a bright smile, the Heroine greeted the Rabbit:
"Hiya, Lils’! Whatcha doin’ here all alone, eh?" Millis leaned forward, invading Lillian’s personal space and inspecting the chains.
The Heroine rubbed her chin in thought before smiling mischievously.
"Am I interrupting anything~? Ya know ya are meant to do these kind of stuff in the bedroom, rig—?"
"It’s not anything like that!" Lillian said angrily, explaining what happened.
After watching Millis bob her head up and down, nodding, Lillian then asked:
"It’s quite fortunate that you’re here, you know, I actually wanted to ask you something."
"Oh~?" Millis tilted her head, "What’s ya question, bestie?"
Lillian narrowed her eyes, "Did you say anything to Marionette? Anything weird at all? Anything that might’ve given her some strange ideas...?"
Millis’s ears twitched as she heard this question.
The Heroine placed her hand under her chin, thinking. Then, she smiled and crossed her arms behind her back.
She responded with...
