Chapter 641: Battle between Three Underworld Patriarchs? [2]
Upon catching the King of Ravens’ lance, Hound of Ruin was met with a tremendous amount of force, which then immediately transferred to the surroundings in the form of a shockwave.
BOOM!
The radius of twenty to thirty metres around them was blown back; dust flying into the air, men and machines being pushed back, the ground cracking as the two Patriarchs radiated a heavy amount of mana.
Staring into the King of Ravens’ eyes through his visor, Orvane gripped the man’s lance tightly—remaining steadfast as the shockwave failed to push him back.
"Such a simple attack, King of Ravens." Orvane’s other hand clenched into a fist, "Have you grown rusty or too optimistic!?"
Readying to throw a punch that would obliterate the Nightaven Patriarch, Hound of Ruin raised his fist. But when he did, he was suddenly assaulted by four other enemy mages—each emitting the aura of a Tier 4, but on a much weaker scale compared to the King of Ravens.
King of Ravens, having managed to free his lance and escaped before being caught up in the assault, snorted with a smirk.
Watching as a humongous dust cloud surged up into the air from the Hound of Ruin’s location, the King of Ravens spoke:
"To call me rusty is quite harsh. Over the past two or so decades, there haven’t been many opportunities to display my strength, so I guess calling me that isn’t so false."
Spreading his arms out, King of Ravens began summoning a flock of ravens; an ability provided to him with the help of his black feather crown.
He then dived down.
Orvane, having endured the attacks—with ease—broke through the pillar of dust, escaping into the outside world before being immediately attacked by a flock of ravens.
"To call me optimistic, Hound of Ruin, is something I will accept wholeheartedly!" Yamigarasu shouted, lingering in the mix of the raven storm and striking at every possible chance he could get.
CLANG CLANG CLANG
Hound of Ruin endured the swift attacks, his armour resisting them with ease. He made no effort to dodge or counterattack; instead, he watched the King of Ravens’ movements before making his move.
Disregarding the attack made against him, the Hound of Ruin spun rapidly with a fist out, causing an upheaval of wind that soon transformed into a tornado.
SWOOWISHWISH!
The winds were sharp and hazardous, managing to tear through the ravens that shrouded the King of Ravens’ location and reduce them back into mana.
The Nightraven clicked his tongue in disappointment, but not worried—having already expected this level of power.
King of Ravens’ body soon became wrapped in a thin veil of darkness, which transported him out of the hazardous storm and dozens of metres into the air.
SWOOWISH...!
Eventually, the tornado came to a halt—vanishing.
When the soldiers of the Nightraven army and the mechanical bodies of the Crown of Roses were about to unleash their attacks, they were immediately—
BOOM!
—Blasted apart by a pillar of air.
With a clench of his fists, Hound of Ruin began to shadowbox the air—his movements blurring with unimaginable speeds; each punch he threw shot out a pillar of air that—
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
""AAGH!!""
—Blew away countless mages.
Those who were unable to dodge or defend themselves were immediately teleported to safety with the help of the life-saving talisman placed on them.
Roughly 90% of the Nightraven’s army had already escaped from the battle through the talisman.
Orvane, coming to a gradual stop to his spin, looked up—sensing a large concentration of mana in the air.
Looking up, he found Yamigarasu aiming his lance down at him, which had coalesced a magical sphere at the tip.
At first, the sphere was pitch-black, but then it shifted to pure white; it was like both darkness and light were warping together to become one, like they had met a middle ground.
If Lillian were here, she would instantly recognise this type of magic. Not because she had seen the King of Ravens in action in the game, but because she had seen it in person.
It was Emilio’s element!
"[Eclipse Beam]!"
With a roar, the King of Ravens fired off a humongous beam of both light and darkness; its size was approximately 200 metres in diameter.
And like a mortal prepared to face heaven’s tribulation, Orvane raised his hands to the sky, welcoming it as—in a fraction of a second—he formed ten blue translucent domes of mana.
The pillar of light and darkness struck his barriers, immediately shattering through the first three layers before slowing down at the fourth. Onwards, it continued to shatter through one more before completely stopping.
Hound of Ruin’s eyes subtly widened, impressed, but then huffed, "Hmph."
After the beam had dissipated, Orvane eventually lowered his barriers. Besides the small spot he was standing on, the entire area around him was gone; now transformed into a doughnut shape.
Ignoring the destroyed land around him, Hound of Ruin raised his hand towards the King of Ravens—mana surrounding his hand.
"In the past, you had only managed to get through three layers, to think you managed to get through five; it seems even in these times you managed to get some good training in—"
As he was about to unleash his magic, the grey fur that covered his beastly body stood—he sensed danger!
With a spin of his body—
SWISH!
—He managed to dodge a swift slash from the Crown of Roses’ dark sword, which buzzed and vibrated like an oscillating saw.
As the Hound of Ruin was about to counterattack, Marek had already moved.
Gripping both his black sword and crimson dagger, the Crown of Roses uttered:
"[Nocturne’s Thorn]..."
In a second, the Roselle Patriarch faded out of existence—his body seemingly fusing into the shadows around them. Before, the Assassin’s presence was only as small as a candle flame, but now that the Roselle disappeared from his sight, it was reduced to near-zero.
Even with Orvane’s strong senses, he was lost.
And because of that—
SWISH!
—He was struck on the back.
