Chapter 642: Battle between Three Underworld Patriarchs? [3]
A large crimson crescent with trails of spectral rose petals flew through the air, slicing through the back of his armour.
Crown of Roses, having slashed the back of Hound of Ruin, snorted as he immediately leaned back, narrowly dodging the swing from Orvane, which caused a powerful gust of wind.
SWOOSH!
His robotic body flew over the deep and massive ravine, landing safely on the other side. And when it did, a snort resounded from the speaker built into the machine.
Crown of Roses snorted as the damage he inflicted on the Darkhound’s back healed almost instantaneously, along with the armour.
He then said:
“[Heavenly Wolf Regalia], a suit of armour once belonging to the Beast Sovereign. It has the ability to not only repair itself with astonishing speed, but also nullify both magical and physical-based attacks. It also provides a strong resistance to soul-based attacks; an armour truly worthy of being a Rank 5 gear. Coupled with your aggravating blood, you have truly made yourself out to be the most durable mage I have ever faced.”
Marek lightly swung his sword and waved off the blood that clung to its edge, which held an alien gold shine inside.
Splat.
The Hound of Ruin stretched his back at Marek’s words, paying no heed to how well the Assassin was about his armour.
“To call my bloodline aggravating is rather harsh, old friend. But you speak as though you don’t have a powerful item of your own.” Orvane directed his gaze to Marek’s black sword, “To this day, I still have yet to know anything apart from its name and how frighteningly sharp its edge is.”
Crown of Roses huffed:
“There are a few cards of mine, similar to [Great Divider], that I would like to keep hidden.” Marek dragged his robotic finger across the flat side of his sword, [Great Divider], “But I can tell you that I had an image of a legendary Hunter in mind for this weapon.”
“Legendary Hunter? And what is the name of this ‘legendary hunter’?”
“Hm…” Crown of Roses hummed, “Who knows…”
Before Orvane could even respond, he was suddenly attacked by an army of humanoid drones.
Hovering high above in the air, they charged their attacks before sending a volley of missiles and powerful energy blasts, each capable of reducing an entire building to ash.
However, with the help of the [Heavenly Wolf Regalia], Orvane sustained no damage, but he was left in a free fall as the ground beneath him crumbled.
He snorted loudly before whipping his arm down, striking the air and—
SWOOSH!
—Causing a gust of wind powerful enough to propel himself out of the hundred-metre-deep hole.
Once escaping the hole, he was immediately met with another assault of projectiles. But contrary to last time, he wasn’t hit.
With quick and flexible manoeuvres, he propelled himself through the air and struck down a group of the flying androids.
CRUSH.
When he moved to target another group, he was immediately intercepted by a swarm of ravens that hid the androids.
What followed was a thunderous battle in the sky as the cacophony of explosions, raven cries, howling of winds, and the destruction of machinery resounded deafeningly.
Beams of both light and darkness shot through the sky as ravens blotted out the moon. At the same time, illusory rose petals fell from the sky like snowflakes, closely followed by a light crimson rain of blood.
The battle lasted for an entire thirty minutes.
SWISH!
After landing another decisive blow on the Hound of Ruin’s back, Marek immediately sought refuge in the storm of ravens—using their black, feathered bodies to hide.
Watching as the King of Ravens went in for an attack, the Roselle planned to attack right after.
But what occurred next left him stunned.
Hound of Ruin, who had visibly gotten bored with the current scenery, anticipated the Nightraven’s movements and struck him with a blow that caused him to vomit not only the contents of his stomach, but also—
“PUAGHK!”
—Blood.
Like a fighter jet piercing through a sea of clouds, King of Ravens shot out of the sea of ravens—his black wings ragdolling behind him as his body sped through the air.
Eventually, he crash-landed onto a nearby mountain top. The sound of his landing caused a loud BOOM to reverberate across the mountain ranges as the mountain top he crashed into slowly fell apart.
The ravens that flew around Hound of Ruin and Crown of Roses began to slowly disperse as they instinctively travelled towards the Nightraven’s current position.
Orvane rolled his fist, sighing in disappointment.
“Still too fragile…”
Before Crown of Roses could move to hide or distance himself from the Hound of Ruin, he was met with a devastating blow to his chest, which sent rivers of cracks across his robotic body.
“Ngh…!”
A heavy groan echoed from the speakers as Marek’s mechanical body was thrown through the air, barreling towards the mountain range.
The first mountain he crashed into crumbled, along with the second and third. His appearance caused a landslide and chaos in the barren mountain range.
Fortunately, he came to a stop once he met the fourth mountain, but his body was now left in rough shape and buried under rubble.
Orvane appeared on a nearby mountain top, looking down at the Crown of Roses, who slowly pulled himself out from the rubble—his mechanical body battered and heavily damaged.
What followed were streams of blood that flowed out from behind the face of the robot.
Hound of Ruin spoke:
“You can no longer hide it anymore, separate yourself from that metal shell; it will do you no good now.”
Marek snorted.
With a loud hiss, the robot began to open from the front, revealing a tall and extremely handsome man standing at 6ft2. He had a sharp, clean-shaven jawline, long black hair tied in a ponytail, and a pair of intimidating blood-red eyes.
He wore a sleek black suit of armour, branded with the Roselle crimson crest on his left shoulder, which had a blood-red orb nestled at the centre of his chest.
Combined with his cold look of indifference and other familial traits, there was no doubt that this man was Marionette Von Roselle’s father.
Orvane’s expression hardened slightly as he watched the Roselle stand up to his feet.
“To think you would abandon your post to travel all the way here to kill me. I’m quite honoured.”
“Abandon is a strong word…” Marek muttered, wiping the blood from the corner of his lips, “I merely asked for a temporary leave to visit my daughter, that’s all.”
“And what would the consequences be for tricking them?” Orvane asked, watched as the Crown of Roses picked up his sword before pointing it at him.
“Who said I was lying? I’ll do just that after killing you.”
