I Will Create a Good Ending for the Yandere Villainess

Chapter 655: Can We Ever Escape Another's Shadow?

Chapter 655: Can We Ever Escape Another’s Shadow?

Reph sprinted down the corridor, his face covered in sweat as he dragged Silvia by the hand, who was visibly shaken by what had happened.

With a clear shakiness in her voice, she shouted desperately:

“REPH, STOP! W-WE CAN’T LEAVE THEM BEHIND—!”

“WHAT THE HELL DO YOU WANT US TO DO!?” Reph swiftly interrupted her, continuing to drag her along down the corridor. “Nagi’s dead, we can’t change that. Our royal guards are dead too; we can’t change that either! We’re too weak to change anything!”

Although the prince wasn’t shaking as terribly as the princess, he was equally affected by her.

“B-but what about Torahiko—”

“We can only hope that buffoon can get out alive!” Reph shouted, noticing the lights in the halls had completely shut off. He scowled and manifested light of his own.

In truth, Reph doubted that Torahiko could have escaped on his own—he wasn’t naive enough to think the Raiketsu was strong enough to contest with the cultist priest.

But he couldn’t help but hold out hope for the man.

‘I can only just hope he’s fast enough to run away.’

“But still…” Silvia whispered behind him, her voice small and unbefitting of a princess. “Can’t we at least do something?”

“Why are you so desperate to endanger your life!?” Reph snapped before calming down a second later. “Is this still about your inferiority complex?”

Breathing a heavy sigh, he turned around and gazed into Silvia’s eyes, which now reflected a pained look. He took in a sharp breath and opened his mouth, but no comforting words came out.

Instead.

“We’ve known each other since we were young and yet you can’t even nudge yourself out of your sisters’ shadows, after all this time?” Reph said coldly, “You may be the last in line for the throne, but you’re still of royal descent. Begin acting like one.”

The corridor soon dropped to a deafening silence.

After a few seconds, Reph let out another sigh as he turned around. “Look, we are both still in the same boat. As you know, my older brother is the crown prince, but he is also a saint. He is one of the most powerful individuals on this planet. And yet, I, as his younger brother, have yet to amount to much yet. But that doesn’t mean I should be hung up over something like that.”

Reph revealed a soft smile, devoid of any fatigue or tiredness people were used to seeing. “Instead, I idolise my brother. And because of that idolisation, I know I can’t fall behind and harm the reputation of the royal family that the saint was born into. Regardless how much I want to live without stress and just laze around.”

Twisting his head back, he smiled brightly, “So, what if our siblings are more successful than we are? We have our entire life to achieve something so that we can brag to them later. We royals are the symbol of our people; their role-model. We can’t disappoint them now, can we?”

Silvia’s eyes lit up as she unconsciously nodded, “Yeah…”

Seeing that Silvia had completely discarded any idea of going back, Reph stated, “Let’s find our way out of here and regroup. I’m sure they’re all outside by now.”

“Yes!”

Reph nodded and spun his head back around, facing forward.

‘And as long as we can get far enough away or hold out until help arrives, we’ll be fine.’ the prince thought. By now, Reph had already figured that this was an attack by the Cult of Jesters; there could be no other.

‘And by how strong that cultist was, he must be around Tier 3 or possibly a Tier 4!’

As Reph was about to begin moving—

‘Huh?’

—His ears twitched.

Before the moment he was born, his body had already undergone similar enhancements to what Marionette had, but on a smaller scale. However, that didn’t mean his senses were completely inferior compared to hers.

Snapping his head back, Reph’s eyes narrowed.

Clink. Thump… Clink. Thump…

Strange noises echoed faintly back from where they came, but due to the light shortage, he was uncertain what the cause might be. But there was one thing that Reph was—

‘Something’s coming!’

—It was anything but safe.

SWIP!

Quickly throwing Silvia to the side, Reph narrowly dodged a strike to his head. He winced and felt a sharp pain slice through the surface of his shoulder.

Then, without looking at what it was, he immediately dashed back—simultaneously dragging Silvia along—before unleashing a high-speed beam attack.

SCHWOOM!

In an instant, the entire corridor was drowned in a scorching light. The marble flooring and stonebrick walls began to melt, turning bright orange and red.

Soon, the light receded back into a casual orb that hovered above Reph’s head.

Reph let out a cautious exhale as he patted his shoulder, discovering a rift in his suit’s fabric. Looking at it, he noticed the edges of the tear were tied in dark red.

‘That explains the pain.’

“Tch.”

His ears twitched again.

Clink. Thump… Clink. Thump…

‘That same noise again, what is it…?’ Reph furrowed his eyebrows, unable to decipher what the sound was. He continued to listen to the strange echoes, sensing a rhythm to how it repeats.

As Reph was about to get used to the tempo of the sound, he quickly noticed the intervals between the sounds decrease.

Clink. Thump. Clink. Thump.

And as time passed, the echoes grew louder.

Clink. Thump! Clink. Thump!

All of this happened in the span of five seconds.

Reph, immediately sensing danger, picked up Silvia in a princess carry before shrouding himself in light.

Silvia, startled, watched as the world around them began to blur as they began to travel down the corridor at an obscene speed.

The Darkhound’s mansion was of unbelievable size. Each corridor was at least 15 metres wide and a quarter of a mile long. Because of that, it left Reph unable to stop once in motion.

Due to the momentum he picks up, Reph recklessly crashes into countless corners and walls as he tries to escape with Silvia. Luckily, he was able to shield the princess with his body every time. Unluckily, every time this happened, it cost them a lot of time.

Reph’s body was battered, but thanks to his enhancements, the injuries were only minor.

‘This accursed home, why is it so big!?’

He felt like he was trapped in a maze! And the darkness didn’t help in the slightest!

Every now and then, he would hear shouting and loud explosions from a faraway room. But he had no luxury of exploring it.

The reason.

“What!?”

Was that the thing had already caught up to them.

CRASH!

Reph crashed through a crudely-made stone wall; his arms wrapped around Silvia as he rolled against the ground. After getting up, he looked at the crudely-made wall.

‘That wasn’t there before, it just suddenly appeared! It’s like someone had used…’ Reph’s eyes widened, ‘Earth magic…’

He then watched as something slowly stepped through the crudely made wall.

The thing was four metres tall and had a wicked gorilla-like physique. It had two arms that were grotesquely larger than its entire body, an elongated torso that stretched long enough for its human-sized legs to touch the ground. Its skin was a smoky black, and its oversized muscles were bulging disgustingly, like it had taken a heavy dose of modified steroids all at once.

It had dark-brown hair that was slightly charred and green eyes, where a four-pointed star could be seen. Its body was also completely nude, allowing everyone to see its dangling member.

It was Albrecht who seemed to have undergone another mutation.

Reph panted as he wiped the sweat off his brow and dusted himself off, ‘This isn’t good. It caught up to us way too fast, even with all the times I lost by crashing into things…’

With a dark and grim look on his face, he gestured for Silvia to leave.

“Go, try and get out first. I think I can buy you some time.”

“What!?” Silvia shouted, “What are you saying?! We can still get out of here together—!”

“I doubt it. If we continue to try to escape as we did earlier, he’ll only catch up to us. And because of this accursed maze of a home, my body will only continue to be more battered by crashing into things.” Reph summoned a pair of gem-encrusted gloves before wearing them, “Just go! Trust me, if my life is at risk, I’m certain I can escape, so go!”

Silvia gritted her teeth before running away, “Fine, but I’ll come back with help!”

Without looking back, Reph nodded, keeping his eyes focused on the thing in front of him.

In truth, there were a couple of ways the two of them could’ve escaped. The most logical example would be to blast their way out, either through the walls or through the ceilings.

‘But if I do that, it’ll allow Albrecht to escape to the outside with us and reach the people outside.’ Reph wasn’t sure how large the scale of this invasion was, but he knew that if he allowed this thing to escape, it would doom many lives. ‘But… Do I even have a chance against this thing?’

Feeling slightly intimidated by the size difference, a nervous smile broke out on the Second Prince’s face.

Raising his gloved hands to grasp the air, he manifested a gladius made of light, which—compared to the light beams before—felt intensely brighter.

Afterwards, he took a step forward and muttered:

“I don’t have a choice.”

Albrecht, sensing an incoming attack, charged forward like an enraged gorilla, which startled Reph for a split second.

Stepping to the side, the prince narrowly dodged the attack. Then, in retaliation, he struck Albrecht’s side—intending to cut him in two.

SKRR!

But met resistance.

Reph’s eyes widened as he found the monster’s skin to now have a metallic sheen over it. And for some reason, it was really familiar.

“Grrgh…”

“Not good!”

Reph, sensing Albrecht was about to counterattack, quickly converted his body into rays of light and moved out of the way.

CRASH!

Slamming himself against where Reph used to be, Albrecht let out an annoyed and beastly groan as he watched the prince reappear metres in front of him.

Reph panted.

‘Too close… When did he have that ability?’

The prince never once heard Albrecht having an ability that made his skin metallic.

‘It’s like Torahiko’s…’

As Reph was deeply analysing Albrecht’s new ability, the monster quickly rushed in to throw a heavy right hook. And seeing this, Reph prepared himself to dodge.

But then…

Buzz

The Second Prince watched as electricity erupted from Albrecht’s muscular fist.

Reph’s eyes widened.

‘That’s Torahiko’s element…’

BAM!
