Chapter 656: On my Royal Name as Lionbright?
Chapter 656: On my Royal Name as Lionbright?
“It’s the exit!”
The nobles who had fled the ballroom first had finally managed to reach the exit. But when they moved to the parking lot, they found all of their vehicles had been trashed and destroyed.
“MY LIMOUSINE!”
“OH FUCK, MAN! THIS IS MY DAD’S LIMOUSINE!”
“H-HOW ARE WE GONNA GET HOME NOW!?”
“WHOEVER DID THIS I’M GONNA…”
While some people threw rageful tantrums and others buckled over out of fear, Crystal was scrambling around asking random nobles one singular, important question.
“Uhm, excuse me, have you seen my servant?” Crystal asked timidly.
A nobleman looked back, his eyes filled with terror, but enough clarity to answer Crystal’s question.
“W-what did they look like?”
“They had purple hair! And uh, bright gold and orangey eyes! They were also in a black suit!”
“I-I’m sorry, I haven’t seen anybody like that on my way here.”
Crystal nodded before thanking them. She was deeply worried. Earlier, before everyone had to flee, Millis had asked to be excused to the restroom. It has now been close to 15 minutes since she last saw the woman.
‘Millis… Where are you?’

CLANG! THUD! CLANG!
In a corridor smothered in utter darkness, two forces battled each other with savage intensity—each determined to overwhelm the other and snuff out their light.
One was shrouded in blinding light, while the other crackled with destructive electricity.
CLANG! THUD! CLANG!
Together, they tore through the darkness, leaving a path of illumination with their violent clashes. Wherever they went, destruction followed, and nothing but ruin and char was left behind.
They moved at obscene speed—speed that allowed them to cross dozens of metres in milliseconds. Their tempo for clashing was relentless and quick.
And with each clash…
“[Goldenmane Style 1st Form!]”
It resounded like thunder.
“[FIRST ROAR]!”
CLANG!
Striking down on Albrecht’s raised arm, Reph gritted his teeth as the two of them crashed through a wall, breaking through—
CRASH!
—And ending up inside a large, open chamber.
SKRR!
Unlike the prince’s earlier attack, this one managed to slice through the metallic sheen protecting Albrecht’s body.
As the illusory form of a golden lion roared itself into existence behind Reph, the prince continued to force his blade deeper into Albrecht’s arm, wanting nothing more than to chop it off!
But unfortunately, he couldn’t keep it up for long.
Schwoop!
At the swing of Albrecht’s arm, Reph vanished backwards, reappearing several metres away in a blur of light.
The prince then tiredly bent over, panting for air as his exhaustion became clearer and clearer in his eyes. His once-pristine and expensive suit was now in partial tatters, stained in both dust and his blood. His body was also littered with bruises and shallow cuts.
Fortunately, his injuries weren’t that serious.
Not yet, at least.
Thud.
“Haa… Haa…”
Dropping to one knee, Reph’s vision blurred as the world around him suddenly tilted violently. He let out a forced groan as both fatigue and vertigo crashed into him in waves.
“So… Tired…”
Reph’s Flaw wasn’t as simple as keeping him constantly tired or appearing so; rather, it made whatever action he took require more energy to achieve. On any casual and normal basis, it wasn’t that big of a deal.
However, in a fight for his life, he had to be even more cautious. If he pushed himself too much, his body might cause him to black out—which would leave him wide open for an attack.
‘I’ve also heard that people can die from over-exhaustion…’
The prince’s fighting style was simple: to charge up and unleash an attack strong enough to completely annihilate his opponent. It was a method that had plenty of victories. But unfortunately, a plan as simple as this had its issues.
He struggled heavily in prolonged battles.
‘I never liked drawn-out fights like these…’ Reph thought as he panted.
Lifting his head, he locked eyes with Albrecht.
The mutant calmly inspected the wound Reph had carved into his arm. It was a deep wound—deep enough for people to see an exposed bone.
That was… if anyone could see past the blackened, cauterised flesh.
Reph watched as the Albrecht tore off the damaged flesh and bone with his bare hands before regenerating his arm. The Second Prince grimaced at this.
“How ridiculous…”
In truth, he wanted to somehow capture and save Albrecht to cure him of his condition. But he was growing more and more doubtful whether he could achieve such a thing.
‘I just gotta hold out until Silvia brings help.’
Sensing the ground tremble beneath him, Reph quickly got back up and dashed back—dodging a humongous earth spike. Then, he ducked under a bolt of lightning, which struck the ground and exploded behind him.
Reph was sent into the air.
“Nngh…!”
He then inevitably hit the ground rolling.
When he was about to get back up, he felt himself get lifted into the air, which soon began to spin. The winds became turbulent and sharp, transforming into a tornado that began shredding Reph.
“Ugh…!”
The Second Prince, manifesting a sphere of light around him, flexed his muscles and bursted out of the tornado. However, that freedom was short-lived as he was then caught in another attack.
For the next minute, Reph was caught in a near-endless onslaught of attacks. Eventually, he was able to break out on his own at the cost of a large supply of mana.
Thud…
Dropping to the ground, Reph glared at Albrecht bitterly as he shakily got up to his feet. The number of his wounds now doubled, and they’re more severe than before.
Itchy burns, deep cuts, throbbing bruises; his clothes were almost in complete tatters.
“How long has it been since I was put in such a sorry state…?” Reph muttered, his breathing heavy.
Remembering the abilities that were just used on him, Reph frowned in deep resentment—his hands clenching until his nails drew blood.
Wind, Electricity, Metallic Skin.
Those were his friends’ abilities!
“I understand now…” Reph said with a low voice, “This mutation of yours isn’t completely random. It relies on what you eat, doesn’t it?”
As he said this, something inside him broke. If his hypothesis was true… then there was no way for his friends to come back. The hope that he had for them was shattered, and the fear that he had put off entered his heart.
“Keheheh… Reph~! Reph~! So weak~…”
Reph widened his eyes as he watched Albrecht speak. He watched Albrecht laugh. He watched Albrecht call his name. He watched Albrecht mock him. And for some reason, Reph couldn’t stop shaking.
It wasn’t speaking in its own voice.
But in his friends’ voices.
It had stolen his friends’ voices.
“You…” Reph’s mouth gaped at what he heard, his expression freezing.
The fear that had entered his heart suddenly combusted. And what it brought and fueled was a new kind of emotion, one he wasn’t that familiar with.
It was Rage.
The Second Prince’s eyes then began to glow with burning brilliance.
Albrecht, who had grown intelligent enough to use its new voices, noticed something off about the prince. He sensed a vast and intense sea of bloodlust from the prince.
As he was about to charge in, he noticed a massive gathering of mana above him.
Looking up, Albrecht’s eyes widened.
Hovering high above him was a sea of radiant swords all pointed down at him, their edges brimming with heat.
Albrecht instinctively hardened the metallic sheen covering his entire body.
And it was a good thing he did.
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
Because each sword fell like a bombshell.
Albrecht, who was completely covered in a metallic shell, could feel the force of the swords through his defences. Each sword that fell on him left cracks in his shell and drove him deeper into the ground.
Whenever he tried to escape, the ground beneath him sank a little. Whenever he tried to raise his arms, the swords would knock them back down.
He was trapped!
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
After thirty seconds of never-ending bombardment, Reph ceased his attack.
The massive chamber fell silent.
Riiiiip…!
Stepping forward, Reph seized his tattered clothes and tore them off his upper body, revealing his lean, chiselled body, which now began to radiate a dreadful brilliance.
The jewellery and expensive items he had on his body had multiplied several-fold. Golden bands, rings, and glistening ornaments were layered over his body. It was to the point where both of his arms were almost hidden under the extravagant amount of jewellery.
At this moment, Reph abandoned all restraint.
Any lingering desire he had left to save Albrecht had now long since been eradicated. In his eyes, the thing standing before Reph was no longer Albrecht. No longer human.
He was a beast. He was a monster. And to prevent casualties, all monsters were to be exterminated.
Light radiated violently in his eyes. And with grief and fury twisting in his voice, he roared:
“THIS IS NO LONGER ABOUT BUYING TIME OR BEING A ROLE MODEL! ON MY ROYAL NAME AS LIONBRIGHT—YOU WILL NOT LIVE TO SEE TOMORROW!”
