Mu Mingtang turned around as Xie Xuanchen smiled and looked at her with understanding. She felt uncomfortable with that look before she left the main hall on the pretext of going out for some fresh air.

Mu Mingtang thought that she wouldn’t be this troubled as long as she didn’t see him, so she sat outside for a while. And after the conversation was over, she went in and asked Madam Yin to take her home. Mu Mingtang originally thought that Xie Xuanji’s family would not come to the capital for several years and she really liked Madam Yin, so she thought it would be okay for her to get closer to the Xie family for the time being. Once the other Xie family came in two years, she would gradually distance herself from them.

Mu Mingtang was startled and turned around in a hurry, finding that Xie Xuanchen was standing beside her since God knows when. Mu Mingtang silently stroked his chest and complained, “Why are you walking without making any sound?”

Xie Xuanchen spread his hands innocently, “I’m not the one walking without making sounds; you’re the one who’s been thinking too hard.”

Mu Mingtang didn’t want to argue with a half-grown boy, so she nodded perfunctorily, “Alright, you win.”

Xie Xuanchen didn’t like her attitude very much. Mu Mingtang sat sideways on the railing and Xie Xuanchen stood beside her, so he reached over her and pulled a branch of flowers down from behind her.

He was so strong that the entire flower tree was shaken by his movements. The tiny petals fell down,some landing on Mu Mingtang’s head, making her really upset. She had been an Empress for several years before her reincarnation and the people she interacted with were all very elegant and poised. She had never seen a reckless and naughty boy like Xie Xuanchen.

She took off the petals on her hair with a dark expression and looked at Xie Xuanchen with a pair of glaring eyes. Xie Xuanchen suddenly smiled, holding up the branch he had just picked and asked, “What kind of flower is this?”

Mu Mingtang didn’t want to pay attention to him, but she was too familiar with this kind of flower. Before she could react, she blurted out, “Begonia.”

“So this is begonia?” Xie Xuanchen laughed when he heard it, “What a coincidence. Is it the begonia in your name?”

Mu Mingtang frowned. Although she was 9 years old now, she was an adult woman mentally after all. Being asked about her name by a man other than her father, brother or husband was considered an offence.

Mu Mingtang didn’t say anything but stood up to change places. Xie Xuanchen didn’t care about her coldness as he suddenly reached out and pressed her shoulders, pinning her down.
