Chapter 156: Ancient God
Chapter 156: Ancient God
Tian Fan was extremely excited at this moment. He had just obtained the Thunder Spirit Orb, and now there was news of a third Spirit Orb. But to him, it wasn’t just a Spirit Orb. No divine artifact or heavenly treasure could tempt him—only because this was the hope for Zi Ying’s survival.
“You… do you really know where it is?”
Tian Fan asked excitedly. He was desperate to know the whereabouts of the third Spirit Orb. But to his disappointment, the demon didn’t know its exact location. In fact, he wasn’t even sure it was a Spirit Orb. He only had strong confidence based on fragmented soul memories, which hinted at a supremely mysterious Heavenly Orb hidden somewhere.
“It’s at the far right end of this world…”
The moment he heard that, the expression on heir of the Huangpu Clan’s face changed drastically. The far right of this world was precisely where his family resided—the western region of the Divine Martial Continent.
“Far right or not, even if there’s only a sliver of a chance, I have to go.” Tian Fan said firmly, his eyes blazing with divine light as he gazed toward the distant western lands.
“Senior, you…?”
Tian Fan looked at the chains behind the demon. He didn’t understand why this person had shackled himself here. He also glanced briefly at the sealed black hole. But he quickly averted his eyes, his face pale. Even though it was sealed, his divine sense still felt like it was being sucked in.
“I’ve bound myself here to suppress the demons. This is the last duty a sinner like me can fulfill…” The demon’s voice was full of sorrow and guilt, leaving Tian Fan deeply confused.
“What I really want to ask is—how do we get out of here?”
The Holy Son of the Demon Saint Palace stood nearby, looking toward the darkness behind him. It was an endless abyss, where even divine sense would be swallowed. Upon hearing this, Tian Fan also looked over.
“A mere trick!”
The demon said coldly. His golden eyes flashed as he looked forward. Instantly, everyone felt as if a massive mountain had pressed down on them. Cold sweat poured down their backs. This was the pressure of a demon—just looking into his eyes made them feel like their souls were about to disintegrate.
Zzz…
Golden light flickered in the demon’s eyes. Wherever it swept, the darkness vanished. The ancient tomb path that had disappeared reappeared again, but it looked entirely different. It was now paved with endless bones and chunks of rotting flesh. Rivers of dark blood flowed, emitting an overwhelming stench of gore.
Everyone was stunned. They had not seen this on their way in. Back then, it was a smooth stone staircase. Nothing like this. They shuddered, glancing down at their feet. Their legs were covered in dark, filthy blood, and rotting flesh clung to them, giving off a putrid stench.
Awroo…
Faint ghostly howls echoed. Everyone’s scalp tingled. That sound… it was far too familiar. Impossible to forget.
Crack…
Several bones shattered. From the endless pile of corpses, crimson beams of light shot out. Five monsters covered in red fur burst forth. Their claws were long as chopsticks and glinted with black light. They had tusks, and their faces were hideously grotesque.
Five more Corpse Fiends, all shrouded in dark demonic light, radiating deathly energy.
“I get it now… so that’s what it is…”
Tian Fan and the Demon Saint Palace’s Holy Son exchanged glances, chills running down their spines. No wonder they had constantly smelled blood along the way—this was the truth behind it.
“That damned old b*stard was mass-producing Corpse Fiends down here!”
Even the Demon Saint Palace’s Holy Son, a cold-blooded killer, felt his hair stand on end. This ancient tomb was no ordinary place—it was an enormous, supremely yin location. That malevolent spirit had grand ambitions. Using endless souls and blood combined with his cultivation from the Immortal Ascension Realm, given another thousand years, if no deities intervened, the entire Divine Martial Continent would become his paradise—an empire of the undead.
Awroo…
More howls rang out. Several Corpse Fiends stood up from piles of bones and flesh. Blood flowed down their red-furred bodies, which they absorbed into themselves.
Ssss…
Everyone gasped in horror, eyes bulging. A whole group of red-furred Corpse Fiends was rising. All hideously grotesque, and all advancing toward them.
“We’re finished. We’re all going to die…”
Despair filled everyone’s faces. So many Corpse Fiends—enough to make even Immortal Ascension Realm cultivators frown. They could easily tear apart those in the Profound Origin Realm. No one here could stop them.
The Sword Immortal Sect’s divine son looked calm, smiling faintly as if unbothered.
The Huangpu clan’s heir looked equally cold and indifferent.
“What the hell… your grandpa!”
The Demon Saint Palace’s Holy Son nearly cursed out loud. He was practically traumatized, still haunted by the memory of the ghost chasing his ass. His eyes rolled, and then he ran over to Tian Fan with a cheeky grin, speaking to the demon:
“Ahem, senior, would you please use your divine powers to send these evil things to the Pure Land?”
The demon gave him a glance, then looked at Tian Fan. He raised his head, golden light flashing from his eyes. A ripple shot out toward the ancient tomb path.
Poof… Poof… Poof…
Without any suspense, all the Corpse Fiends turned to dust and vanished. The endless bones and flesh along the tomb path also dissolved into thin air. The golden ripple washed over the entire ancient road, scrubbing it clean. Even the heavy stench of blood disappeared.
“Thank you, senior!”
Everyone knelt down, not daring to breathe loudly. What kind of power was this? Just one glance turned countless Corpse Fiends to dust. That golden ripple was terrifying. They felt that even peak Immortal Ascension cultivators couldn’t survive under it.
“I’m leaving… to the Northern Region.”
Tian Fan spoke. He couldn’t wait to leave. He turned to the demon and bowed deeply, catching the latter off guard. The demon panicked, trying to stop him from bowing, much to the crowd’s confusion.
“Xiao Fan, we’ll go with you!”
“That’s right! We want to help save Sister Zi Ying!”
Several disciples from the Great Sealing Sect stepped forward, speaking sincerely. They had been heartbroken upon learning of Zi Ying’s demise. Now that they knew Tian Fan was seeking Spirit Orbs to save her, they wanted to help.
“This old servant cannot leave this place. Let me do what little I can to aid you, young master.”
The demon spoke solemnly. Chains clinked behind him. He glanced once more at the black abyss, then turned back and pointed with one finger.
Boom…
A golden beam shot out. The space in front of Tian Fan cracked open, and a silver portal appeared. Through it, they could see a dense forest ahead, filled with birdsong and the scent of flowers.
heir of the Huangpu Clan’s expression changed again. He would never forget that forest—it was the oldest in the Western Region, not far from his family’s territory.
Clack…
Everyone heard jaws drop. They stared at the demon in shock and dropped to their knees, trembling. They couldn’t tell if it was fear or awe. Someone had actually opened a spatial portal this easily—it was more unbelievable than gold falling from the sky.
“I… I…”
The Demon Saint Palace’s Holy Son was shaking. Li Yunyang and the others gaped. Even Tian Fan, who had mentally prepared himself, felt a wave of emotion seeing it for real.
This was an ancient god!
“At the end of this road, in that land, there is a trace of the Spirit Orb. Forgive me, young master… I cannot leave this place.” The demon said apologetically, glancing back once more.
“Thank you!”
Tian Fan said with emotion. Though the Northern and Western Regions of the Divine Martial Continent differed by only one word, they were separated by tens of millions of miles and a vast ocean. This portal would save him years of travel. Without it, who knew how long it would take? Only a handful of martial sanctuaries had teleportation arrays—and they wouldn’t lend them to outsiders.
“We’re coming too!” Li Yunyang and the others said. Now that they knew Tian Fan was trying to save Zi Ying, they wanted to help however they could.
“Thank you all. I will save her. Even if I have to kill my way across the world, I will gather all five Spirit Orbs. No one can stop me!”
Tian Fan choked up slightly, but his voice was full of determination. He then looked at Huangpu, turned to the demon, and said, “Senior, could you open another portal? The Great Sealing Sect is in the Northern Region and faces danger.”
“No problem.”
The demon’s eyes glowed with golden light. He gazed into the void and pointed again. Another spatial tunnel appeared, showing faint glimpses of the Great Sealing Sect. The disciples were no longer slacking off—everyone was diligently cultivating.
“Yunyang, Senior Sister, Senior Brothers—someday, let’s drink to our hearts’ content again!” Tian Fan said emotionally, which made the others uneasy.
“Tian Fan, you b*stard!”
Sun Yueying shouted, but it was no use. Tian Fan stretched out a golden hand, gently pushing them into the portal with a soft force. He glanced one last time at the demon and nodded. The spatial tunnel closed with a boom.
He wasn’t worried about the Demon Saint Palace’s Holy Son. That guy was slippery and strong, rivaling a divine son. If he wanted to leave, no one could stop him.
“Take care, senior…”
Tian Fan bowed once more to the demon, then cast a cold glance at the heir of the Huangpu Clan before stepping into the portal.
“Wait for me, bro! Senior, when you come visit the Demon Palace, there’ll be no shortage of beauties and wine!” The Demon Saint Palace’s Holy Son shouted shamelessly, following Tian Fan into the portal.
“Young master… take care!”
The demon said softly, then turned to face the others.
“From this day forward, this place shall be sealed forever. Anyone who enters within ten miles—dies!”
The demon said coldly. With a wave of his hand, everyone was swept out of the tomb, landing ten miles away.
The area where the tomb had been glowed golden, and then completely sank into the earth…
