Infinite Mana In The Apocalypse

Chapter 4219: Feasts and Festivals! III

Chapter 4219: Feasts and Festivals! III

He saw Titano, the simple giant, being shown by Erikson how to properly hold a piece of fish with a slipper for maximum comedic effect.

He saw his son, Henry, standing with Liora, as the two ate.

He saw it all, and he knew this moment of peace, this fragile island of joy in an ocean of impending doom, could not last.

It was time.

He rose, and the joyous din of the feast quieted. All eyes turned to him, their gazes filled with a mixture of reverence, loyalty, and a deep, abiding trust.

"We have been through many things together," he began, his voice a calm, steady current that flowed across the golden sands.

"We have faced apocalypses, battled monsters, and stood against forces that should have unmade us. We have survived. And we have grown stronger for it."

HUUM!

He let the words hang in the air, a shared acknowledgment of their impossible journey!

"Recently," he continued, his tone shifting, the warmth in his voice giving way to a cold, hard gravity, "I learned of events that occurred eons ago, in the Earliest Folds. Events that set into motion the collapse of Existence itself. A coming Fallout."

...!

A hush fell over the crowd. The food, moments before a source of ecstatic pleasure, suddenly felt heavy in their hands.

"The stories you have begun to hear about THE Living Existences, about THE Creature... all those beings are supposedly protected in a bunker of their own making. Everyone else, everyone outside of this bunker, of this... Loom... is destined to perish."

BOOM!

The words were a quiet detonation, a truth so vast and so terrible it seemed to suck the very air from the Shore. Many paused mid-chew, their eyes wide and bright as they listened, the taste of desperation from the meal now a chilling premonition.

"All of this was set in motion eons ago," Noah’s voice was a flat, unyielding line. "Even those who built the bunker did not know when this would occur. It did not happen in the past millions of years. It may not occur in another million years. Or... it could occur in the next year, the next month, or even tomorrow. Nobody knows. And herein lies the reason for our desperation. Why the food you are feasting on is filled with the Concept of Desperation. Because since we do not know when the collapse and the Fallout are coming, we have to do everything we can to attain enough power to survive it."

An immense silence followed, a quiet so profound that the gentle lapping of the Sacred Waters on the distant shore sounded like a roar.

His people gazed at him, and in their eyes, he saw no fear, no despair. Only a shining, unwavering faith.

A faith that was a heavier burden than any crown.

He sighed, the weight of their trust a physical thing upon his shoulders, and he turned his gaze to his son. To Henry.

He looked at him, and then at all of them.

"We have survived many things before this," he said, his voice softer now, laced with a vulnerability. "But the ordeal ahead is one that even I... am unsure of. The power we need to attain is a distant, almost mythical thing. It is not a Power, but THE Power. If we have time, we will achieve it. And that is the only peril...not knowing how much time we have. But until then... we continue to be desperate. We continue to struggle."

He took a breath, his gaze sweeping over each of them, a leader seeing not just soldiers, but family.

"I tell you this situation not to foster fear, but to let you know that I will be doing everything I can. But that is me, in this vastness of existence. Each of you has your own existence. There is no harm in being desperate yourselves... in going as far as you possibly can. Just like any other apocalypse... we will survive this. We will do... whatever it takes."

HUUM!

Whatever it takes. The words were a vow, a promise, a declaration of war against fate itself!

In the silence that followed, a single, defiant figure rose.

The Emperor Penguin, a piece of celestial fish still held in its flipper, raised its other flipper high in the air and bellowed, its voice a comical, yet profoundly serious, squawk.

"WHATEVER IT TAKES!"

For a moment, there was just that single, absurd voice.

Then, another joined. Erikson, a wild grin on his face, rose and raised the Slipper of Existential Humiliation. "Whatever it takes!"

Then Kazuhiko, his hand on his sword, a silent, deadly promise in his eyes. Moiraine, a quiet, burning loyalty in her paradoxical gaze. Titano, a simple, booming echo of his new Brother’s will.

Ruination, her voice the sound of endings choosing to fight. The Infiniverse, a chorus of countless souls speaking as one. One by one, they all began to rise, their individual voices a dissonant, chaotic chorus of defiance.

And then, in a few seconds, they found their harmony. They all spoke as one, their unified voice a thunderous, wheel-shaking roar.

"WHATEVER IT TAKES!"

BOOM!

An electrical energy, a current of pure, unadulterated fervor, surged across the Shore!

Khor, who had been watching with shining, ancient eyes, smiled and joined in, her voice a whisper that was somehow the loudest of all.

In the Inevitability Ranch Sanctuary, the young Inevitabilities raised their tentacles and screeched, a hungry, joyous cry of agreement.

Heidrun and Yoshinami appeared, their eyes blazing with a fierce, protective light. Malphas, who had been observing with a profound, respectful gaze, looked at his Lord and mouthed the words, his loyalty a silent, unbreakable oath!

Noah felt it all, their booming shouts, their collective, desperate will. A tidal wave of emotion!

And he did not fight them. He let them wash over him, through him. The bloody purple flames of his Haki, which had been a controlled, contained fire, erupted from him, a raging, regal inferno that reached for the heavens.

He opened his mouth, and his voice, the voice of their Emperor, their leader, their family, joined theirs.

The entire Radiant Shore, every being, every grain of sand, every drop of water, roared as one.

"WHATEVER IT TAKES!"

BOOM!
