Chapter 46.2 - Secret

Chapter 46.2 - Secret

Luo Fei didn’t notice Mo Han’s abnormality, and chatted with his uncle affectionately: “I just heard at the front desk that there’s a big event at the school, are you here for it?”

“That’s right.” Major General Ling An said with a smile. “The military organizes a mech competition every year. This year’s competition was entrusted to me, so I came with some of my subordinates in advance.”

Luo Fei suddenly realized, and immediately asked, “You’re the only one here? Didn’t Grandpa and the others come?”

Ling An said: “Your grandfather went out on a mission recently. It may take several months before he comes back.”

“Grandpa really can’t stay idle.” Luo Fei couldn’t help sighing.

He suddenly remembered that Major General Ling An greeted Mo Han just now, and he couldn’t help but wonder, “Do you know Mo Han?”

Ling An glanced at Mo Han with a smile. “I met him at your birthday party. Mr. Mo’s proudest son – I have a deep impression of him.”

Mo Han’s scalp went numb from his sharp gaze. He coughed lightly, and said, “Luo Fei, you can talk to the general, I’ll go back to my room to rest first.”

“I’ll take you there,” Luo Fei immediately said. “Uncle must be busy with military affairs, I shouldn’t disturb you…”

But Ling An said: “It’s okay, I’m free today. After you send Mo Han off, come to Room 1701 to find me later, I have something to ask you.”

Luo Fei was startled, met his smiling eyes, and nodded. “Then I’ll come and find you later.”

After sending Mo Han to his room, Luo Fei went to find Ling An.

After Ling An returned to his room and took off his military jacket, he looked much softer1as in welcoming; less austere.

Luo Fei and Ling An have always been very close. When he was a child, he often followed behind him, falling him uncle. He also learned a lot about fighting and firearms from him. After Ling An graduated and went to the Glory Legion, it became harder to meet his uncle, but their relationship did not deteriorate.

Without outsiders around, there was no need to pay much attention to military etiquette. Ling An took the initiative to pour a glass of water for Luo Fei, beckoned him to sit down, and asked in a low voice, “Are you still used to the academy?”

“It’s okay.” Luo Fei nodded.

Ling An said: “I heard that you got full marks in all subjects during the special training for freshmen. Your father is very happy. He wanted me to tell you to do well in school. If you can maintain these scores at the end-of-year assessment, he will give you a big reward later.”

Luo Fei smiled and said, “Don’t worry, I will work hard. If I don’t perform well, I’m afraid my dad2Lin Yuan will beat me up again.”

Ling An patted his nephew on the shoulder with a smile. “Your dad’s beatings are also good for you. Now you can react super fast to any sneak attack.”

Luo Fei: “…”

He can’t refute this. The continual beatings while growing up made him very thick-skinned and resistant to beatings, so he didn’t feel much pain when repeatedly injured during the special freshmen training.

Ling An paused, then changed the subject. “The wound on your forehead, and these small wounds on your arm, did you get it while climbing today?”

Luo Fei said, “It’s nothing serious, just some scrapes.”

Ling An rubbed his chin thoughtfully. With Luo Fei’s reflexes and athletic skills, the probability of being injured is very low. He should have gotten injured protecting Mo Han? Thinking of this, Ling An said, “Do you have a good relationship with Mo Han?”

Luo Fei’s heart skipped a beat, and he pretended to be calm, “We are good friends.”

Ling An smiled and looked at Luo Fei. “Really? But I heard that it was because of Mo Han that you lost your calm at the birthday party?”

Luo Fei: “…”

How could even my uncle know about that ‘glorious’ deed? Grandpa must have told him?

Luo Fei had no choice but to bite the bullet and explain: “When I met Mo Han in Lyra, I faked being his senior to become friends with him using a made-up identity as a graduate of the Agricultural Science Department of Hermann University. As a result, when Mo Han appeared at my birthday party, my lie was exposed directly. I was too embarrassed, and lost my wits for a moment.”

Ling An said: “Your grandfather also said the same thing. But Luo Fei, I know you well – I don’t think things are that simple.”

Being on the receiving end of the sharp gaze, Luo Fei looked away guiltily and touched his nose. “It’s true, Mo Han and I are very good friends.”

“You’re obviously lying,” Ling An smiled. ”Every time you lie in front of me, you touch your nose.”

Luo Fei: “…”

He immediately took his hand away from his nose and looked at his uncle in embarrassment.

Ling An stretched out his hand and patted Luo Fei’s shoulder. “The age difference between us is less than ten years old. I may be your uncle in name, but in fact I feel more like your elder brother. Don’t worry, I’m very open-minded. I won’t object if you like Mo Han.”

“Really?” Luo Fei’s eyes widened in surprise.

“So, you really like Mo Han?” Ling An looked at him with a half-smile.

Luo Fei: “…”

He really can’t beat his elders. As soldiers baptized on the battlefield, it’s too easy for them to learn the truth from Luo Fei. His uncle has tricked many star thieves into telling the truth, let alone a simple student like Luo Fei.

Knowing that he couldn’t hide it, Luo Fei spilled the beans. “I really like Mo Han, but I’m not sure I can catch him, so I didn’t tell anyone else.”

Ling An advised earnestly: “Luo Fei, I don’t mind whether the person you like is an alpha or an omega, but uncle must remind you that Mo Han is different. He is much more complicated than you think. You tend to think too shallowly and take things at face value, so uncle wants to remind you not to be fooled by him.”

“Will he lie to me?” Luo Fei was startled. “Their family is in business, and they have nothing to do with our royal family. What can he lie to me about?”

“…” Ling An rubbed the center of his brows with a headache. “Have you never suspected the kidnapping in the Mo family? You never suspected Mo Han’s identity either?”

“I had suspicions, but I haven’t been able to find any evidence. There was no police intervention back then, and there are many doubts about what the Mo family announced to the public.” Luo Fei lowered his head and carefully walked through his thoughts. “Actually, I think that Mo Han’s father, the omega named Fang Ziqian, is probably not dead. Mo Han’s younger brother, Mo Lin, may not be mentally ill either.”

“You’re not too stupid.” Ling An smiled slightly, and said in a low voice, “Luo Fei, let me remind you that Fang Ziqian ran away on the wedding day under the surveillance of countless people from the Fang and Mo families. He disappeared without a trace, and the two families teamed up for a whole year before finding him. All transportation in the Empire requires real names, and real identity information is also required for shopping and accommodation. Do you know how he disappeared for a whole year?”

“…” Luo Fei’s heart skipped a beat.

That’s right, this key point was actually ignored by him. How could a living person – a weak omega – being tracked by two big families, disappear completely for a whole year? How’s that possible? Was there a powerful force behind him?

Just as Luo Fei’s head was spinning, he heard Ling An say with a smile, “Because Mo Han’s father, Fang Ziqian, is the top hacker in the Empire.”

Luo Fei: “…”

So the phrase “like father, like son” that my uncle said at the birthday party was not referring to Mo Qiming, but Fang Ziqian?

Mo Han’s hacking skills were taught by his own father? No wonder Mo Han could complete the four-year curriculum at Hermann University in two years, easily cracked the Locke virus, passed the highest professional certification exam in advance, and participated in the R&D of the new generation smart spaceship at his young age…

With such a powerful father, all of this can be reasonably explained.

Ling An went on to add: “The reason why Fang Ziqian escaped smoothly back then was because he directly hacked the Internet, making it impossible for the Fang and Mo families to find his information. In the end, they were able to find him with the help from the Glory Legion. Fang Ziqian was hiding on the remote Planet Ryan, and was seriously injured for some unknown reason. The people from the family quickly rushed to Planet Ryan to pick him up.”

Luo Fei suddenly realized: “So it’s like this…”

Ling An said: “The Mo family has requested to keep this matter secret, and not many people know about it. I want to remind you so you’re you mentally prepared. Not only is Fang Ziqian behind Mo Han, you probably can’t find any information about the kidnapping case because Fang Ziqian dealt with it. I don’t know what the Mo family is doing behind the scenes, but I’m sure there are forces behind Mo Han who want to harm him. You need to be careful if you get close to him.”

“Thank you uncle, I will pay more attention.” Luo Fei nodded vigorously.

Mo Han is indeed not simple, but he couldn’t do anything. Since he likes such a person with a complicated background, no matter what happens in the future, Luo Fei is willing to bear it with him.

The IQ pecking order: Everyone (Mo Han, Ling An, Luo Ning, etc) > Luo Fei
