Chapter 1591: The Final Hunt: Death

Chapter 1591: The Final Hunt: Death

[Unedited Chapter]

----

The Terracotta General swung the Dragon Protection Sword, releasing a terrifying roar that shook the Heavens. A humongous claw tore apart the void, followed by a purple dragon head with two horns. The primordial dragon forcefully entered this realm from the beyond.

The creature immediately released its might to show dominance, but something immediately caught its attention. The dragon glanced at Terogene Khan; to be precise, it looked at the rules in this environment, trying to restrict it.

The primordial dragon reached with its claws to eliminate the Order-Disorder Rules. Terogene Khan reacted by adding more power to his artifact, but the creature’s power was primal; it was as if this dragon was the physical manifestation of Primordial Chaos itself. So, without hesitation, Terogene Khan fueled the artifact with more of his Great Hunt Qi and the power of the Grand Dao Source.

The dragon roared in anger; how dare a lowly human try to stop it? Three small purple orbs manifested around each of the divine beast’s claws as it siphoned even more power from primordial chaos. Then, a sound of cracking reverberated between Heaven and Earth.

A magic circle manifested above the cube in the Khan’s hand. He knew his tactic of slowly weakening his opponent’s stamina would soon be useless, but he would not allow them to get away with it without paying a price. The cube released a white light as the magic circle rotated.

The dragon’s attack tore apart the rules, but the backlash for this act was immediately directed toward it. The beast roared in pain, and his aura fluctuated like someone who was losing control. The Terracotta General waved his hand, and the primordial dragon shrank until it was a little bit over 3 meters. His action seemed to have stabilized the creature, so it surrounded him as if it were a guardian.

The general then looked at his opponent, and without hesitation, he teleported before the latter and swung his blade. As soon as the attack touched skin, the Khan exploded into a cloud of fire and lightning. These two destructive elements perfectly fit one another, meaning this attack should have been devastating.

However, the general remained intact. Terogene Khan flew from the latter’s shadow for a sneak attack. However, his spear was blocked by a dragon scale. Additionally, the dragon’s tail hit him in his ribs before he could even react, sending him flying a few light-years away. This was the perfect opportunity for consecutive attacks, so the general teleported above the flying Khan, trying to stab his heart.

[Desperate Attack]

Death is the ultimate equalizer, and when any creature is confronted with it, they will either accept their fate or fight desperately. So, Terogene Khan’s aura suddenly intensified as if it had received a jolt to its system. His spear was surrounded by a red aura of power and destruction.

His target was the head, which should be housing the puppet’s soul. In fact, this attack was more of a scaring tactic. He wanted his opponent to hesitate or flinch, thus giving him the opportunity to escape the dangerous sword attack. Sadly, he misread the current situation.

The Terracotta General had the ultimate confidence in his defense — even against such a desperate attack. So, his sword atomized the Khan, including his soul. If the latter did not use a life-saving ultimate skill to exchange his life with one of his spirits, the Khan would have to return to Limbo.

As soon as his body regenerated, the Khan summoned a black gate with the character for "animal" written in bold words. The door opened to release black chains that headed directly for the dragon guardian. However, the creature looked at this attack with disdain. How could such a weak connection to the Six Paths of Samsara affect him?

The dragon casually fired a purple beam that destroyed the shackles. However, while this beast was occupied, another Grand Construct appeared on the stage: the River of Time. By combining the River of Time and the animal path from the Six Paths of Samsara, Terogene Khan summoned physical manifestations of all the creatures he had hunted in his life: from demons to devils, gods, Innate and Chaos lifeforms, and even Fiendgods.

These creatures were immediately bloodlusted as soon as they manifested, so they rushed to trample on the tiny puppet that dared to oppose their summoner. The Terracotta General remained calm. He could have summoned his Terracotta Army to confront these wild beasts, turning this battle into a group fight. However, he had a better solution.

"All things must return to chaos," the general muttered as he raised his left hand to condense a dark-purple energy orb. The summons immediately felt danger, especially the Fiendgod — who resembled a combination of a human and a crab. It rushed over, trying to use its crab claw to snap the general in two.

His reaction was fast — maybe too fast. However, its actions were meaningless. The guardian dragon did its job and protected the person it was bonded to. Meanwhile, the purple orb expanded to every corner of this domain, and everything it came into contact with turned into ash. Terogene Khan acted swiftly by saving one of his Primordial Chaos Lifeforms and turning it into a protective shield around him. Such a quick reaction saved him from the purple orb’s expansion, but the situation was not looking good for him.𝐟𝗿𝐞𝚎𝚠𝐞𝚋𝕟𝐨𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝕔𝕠𝚖

’Damn it, I need to get that sword away from him,’ the Khan analyzed. Without that sword, they can fully utilize the same amount of Grand Constructs. The puppet is also limited by his Dao and the fact that he is not in Qin, which is where his powers were designed to work at their maximum.

[Dragon Judgment Strike]

The sword flew from the Terracotta General’s hands along with the guardian. The sword grew in size alongside the dragon circling it. Once the two were thousands of meters in size, the dragon turned into a purple light that fused with the sword, leaving a dragon-shaped rune.

Terogene Khan’s heart started beating wildly as the sword locked his body, soul, and every essence. ’This feeling... is death approaching?’ Oddly enough, he did not panic, or remained calm in the face of this danger — he smiled.

Hunting has been his entire life. The Mammoth Spirit Tribe loves hunting, and they have a long tradition of warriors proving themselves by hunting ferocious creatures or entities. Terogene participated in his first hunt when he was 15, just before he started cultivating.

Even among his tribe, he was an anomaly because of how much he loved hunting. That’s why he chose the [Ultimate Hunt] as his warrior initiative, which required him — a mortal — to hunt a Tier 1 demonic beast. Despite all the odds, Terogene became one of the five people who succeeded in this hunt.

Using his cunningness and years of planning, Terogene slowly injured the creature with numerous traps before it ran out of energy, and he stabbed it. By the end of the hunt, he only had six uninjured bones of 206, and he was on the verge of passing out due to blood loss, but he was victorious.

From then on, hunting has become his passion — his life. He did not even hesitate to cultivate it as his Dao. For his training, Terogene has experienced all aspects of hunting — including being hunted himself. The only aspect he has not truly experienced is death. A hunt is a battle between the prey and the hunter, and one of the outcomes of such a battle is the death of one of these two.

Terogene knows what it’s like to kill his prey, for his prey to escape successfully, for his prey to outsmart him, and for the status and prey and hunters to be reversed; however, he has never truly experienced death during a hunt. He died during the Ultimate Taboo, but the process was so quick that he could not learn much from the experience.

’I am so close to forming a permanent connection to the Six Path Samsara,’ Terogene Khan thought. ’If I can survive this attack, maybe I will finally see the light.’

The Khan suddenly laughed like a madman before taking action. He summoned the Great Tree Spirit from the Life Tree Temple to increase his vitality and healing powers so he could tank this attack. He summoned the Wolf Spirit to increase his Willpower Manifestation and further boost his defensive measures. Lastly, he summoned the Titanic Mammoth Spirit to protect him.

"Give me your best," he roared, and the sword obliged. The weight of Primordial Chaos was dropped on him, along with the power to annihilate all laws and concepts. The sword’s power spread to many areas of Wu Hong’s territory, forcing many cultivators to flee and hide.

"Hahaha, is this death?" Terogene’s booming echoed in the aftermath of this world-scale devastation. He looked horrible. His left eye socket was empty, half of his scalp was burned, a chunk of his right torso was missing, and one of his legs only went to the knee. However, an invisible tree trunk tied to his back kept him alive.

Terogene was ecstatic. As long as he enters seclusion, he can finally master his third construct, increasing his strength. "I guess I should thank you," he smiled at the general. "Now, let’s end this fight." He was about to summon the War God Spirit, but stopped himself when this terrible smell of blood assaulted his senses. He turned to the side to see someone staring at him.

"Bai Qi?" he frowned.
