Journey of the Fate Destroying Emperor

Chapter 1895: The Final Battle II: The First Conversation

Chapter 1895: The Final Battle II: The First Conversation

The Death Beam began to fluctuate violently. The previously slow condensing method accelerated at an alarming speed. In just a matter of seconds, it condensed into a black coffin with gold lines running all over its body. Death Reverence's body trembled as he tried to contain his excitement. After so many years of planning, he was one step closer to achieving his Lord's grand ambitions.

"But, it's not perfect enough," Death Reverence thought. His eyes shifted to the survivors of the Longevity Realm. Many people had survived by absorbing others' lifespans, but the truth is that was not the reason most of them survived.

Most of the remaining survivors were people with a deep karmic bond with third-step powerhouses. And it's not the kind of bond in which they were treated as pawns. No, it was the kind of deep bond where the third-step powerhouse has left a mark on their bodies to keep tabs on their situation.

"Even if I kill these people, the chances of their backers sensing it are small. However, I'm so close to success. There is no need to risk it," Death Reverence thought. The last thing he would want is for one of these third-step powerhouses to be an anomaly, sense something, and become interested in this timeline — not when he's so close to success.

"But, while I can't touch these people, the same can't be said for you, Trinity Venerable."

The Longevity Realm suddenly trembled, and a pair of eyes manifested above the sky, covering everybody and everything. The eyes coldly glanced at Trinity Venerable — who now resembled an old man — and without any hesitation, began to bombard him with lightning condensed with the purest power of death. The Taoist priest couldn't even resist three lightning bolts before his body dissipated, and his soul was collected.

"Not dead?" Death Reverence frowned. "Is this the power of his Life Ego?" After killing three other Tribunal Lords, Trinity Venerable had enough materials to repair, or even condense, another Life Ego. Death Reverence sneered; he immediately used his authority to locate the Taoist Priest's true body, and it didn't take him long to find a hidden soul imprint.

Death Reverence summoned it into his palm and easily crushed it. However, his frown deepened rather than easing. "False and True Ego? You really know how to hide yourself." A quick check of the universe revealed millions of these false soul imprints.

"Forget it. Let's deal with the matter at hand first." After injecting Trinity Venerable's soul into the black coffin, a sense of harmony, perfection, and nobility began to emanate from it. And for the first time in a while, a smile crept on the corner of Death Reverence's face.

"Everything is ready, except for the vessel."

With a flick of his wrist, the Death Coffin teleported to the hidden dimension where Future Reverence is recuperating; there is no safer place than beside the strongest being in the universe. Then, Death Reverence took one step and appeared before the Lesser Heaven and Earth Origin Cycle Array.

His eyes focused on the array, deep in thought, "Truly a brilliant design, optimized to perfection. On top of that, there is also the sub-array empowered by a third-step artifact. What a headache!" Numerous thoughts flashed in Death Reverence's mind, thinking about what was the quickest and most effective method to deal with this issue.

But, just as Death Reverence was about to create a solution, a portal appeared in front of him, inviting him inside. He squinted as he sensed a potent [Order-Disorder] placed at the entrance, preventing any second-step powerhouses from entering.

"The [Order] is decent, and I could easily break it, but there seems to be a powerful seal added to it," Death Reverence analyzed. The seal is the only thing that worries him. If his future self had come, there might be a way to use brute force, but that's not possible right now.

"Do you think I would willingly walk into a trap?" Death Reverence's spread to the portal.

"You will," Wang Wei responded.

"And why are you so sure?"

"Because if you don't, I will kill myself."

Death Reverence laughed, "Is this supposed to be a threat?"

"Come on, we're both smart people, so why are you treating me like an idiot?" Wang Wei countered. "We both know your master lusts after my body, my potential — my unique and unparalleled destiny. After spending so many years without becoming a True Transcendent, I must say, he's a bit of a waste."

The void around Death Reverence collapsed, but Wang Wei ignored him and continued, "However, he has a good eye. He knows that once he has my body, his chances of reaching that level are high. After all, technically speaking, I've already reached it."

"So, you do know," Death Reverence squinted.

"I wasn't sure before, but now, I know — you've met my future self," Wang Wei said. "But, hasn't your master realized that he's just a test for me?"

"A test in which failure is allowed," Death Reverence replied. "A test in which your death is inconsequential."

"That's true," Wang Wei nodded. "Well, are you coming in or not? Let's end this once and for all."

Death Reverence did not follow his words; things needed to proceed at his pace; he needed to control the rhythm of this confrontation. "I don't think you're willing to go through it. You are too arrogant and prideful to die by suicide. More importantly, you have a wife, parents, friends, and deep bonds waiting for you back in the Primordial Timeline. Can you really give all that up?"

"Why are you lying?" Wang Wei rebutted. "While you make an interesting point, you should have studied me. What do I value more above all those things?"

Death Reverence did not answer.

"My freedom — my free will. But you threaten to take the single thing I valued above everything else away from me. Do you think I'll dare kill myself or not? More importantly, can you take the risk?"

"No, I cannot," Death Reverence thought to himself, but he kept his mouth shut. Without saying another word, he raised his hand to summon all 89% of his [Universe Authority] to attack the array; he planned to eradicate it from the source. First, he would isolate it from Heaven and Earth, and without a Dao Source, the array should collapse on itself.

Death Reverence squinted. A power he was too familiar with enveloped the array, stopping the fate he designed for it. "Authority? Damn it, he must have acquired it from that damn Death Chaos Demon God." Another variable had appeared, and this time, it was a major one. With this [Authority] and the aid of the Primordial Sword Dao Array, Wang Wei might survive long enough for the Grand Dao to free itself from the other battlefield. Lord Beyonder was limited in what he could do; for example, he could not damage this Chaos Universe whatsoever, or he would face the wrath of Hongmeng Saint Wang Wei.

"Truly a man favored by fate," Death Reverence thought with great seriousness. Every trial is not just a moment of life and death, but also an opportunity for greater improvement. More importantly, people blessed with a great destiny never faced danger in isolation. Events will occur to give them hope, or, for a better word, an opportunity to survive.

"You want to end this face-to-face? Fine. I'll crush your dignity and mind with my own hands." With a thought, a protective film surrounded Death Reverence's skin before he rushed into the portal.

Lesser Heaven and Earth Origin Cycle Array, Secret Dimension:

Wang Wei's happiness did not last long as he watched Death Reverence tear apart all the traps he had laid for him. With a shield that is a physical manifestation of the rules of Heaven and Earth's protection, nothing could touch this man: poison, power of nothingness, specially designed Quantum Arrays, artificial creation of the Old Gods' [Whisper], and many more.

Wang Wei groaned softly. He never expected these things to hurt Death Reverence. His goal was just to delay the latter, buying enough time for the Erudite Duchess. One of Wang Wei's greatest worries has always been Future Reverence; therefore, he has to plan for a situation in which Death Reverence is pushed into a corner and forcefully summons his future self; no, even a projection will be enough to annihilate him. And that's when the duchess is supposed to come into the picture.

"I wonder what her current status is," Wang Wei sighed to himself. The feeling of having to rely on someone else for protection — especially someone who is not his immediate family — was terrible. But, as the saying goes, when life gives you lemons, make lemonade. Wang Wei was weak, and the duchess was his only opportunity for safety.

"Is there a way to buy more time?" Countless thoughts flashed in his mind, including creating a dimension full of time energy and trapping the latter in a timeloop. Unfortunately, with Death Reverence's control of the universe, the effects of such methods are far from ideal. Wang Wei knew there was a vast difference between the percentage of [Authority] they controlled, but he did not expect it to be so overwhelming.
