Chapter 1896: The Final Battle III: Face-To-Face Talk

Chapter 1896: The Final Battle III: Face-To-Face Talk

"Ai, do you have any suggestions?" Wang Wei asked.

"I've done more than a hundred septillion deductions, and the result indicates that all our methods can only delay him for 10 years max."

"All those calculations, and we can only last 10 years?" Wang Wei groaned softly.

"There are two methods with a high success rate, but one can only last a short period, and the other is not doable."

"The short-duration one should be Project Red, but what's the other one?"

"The Anti-Dao Cube," Ai responded. "[Grand Dao Authority] is still a concept that belongs to this Chaos Universe — even if a foreign entity has corrupted this timeline's hidden rules. With the cube, we should be able to weaken the power of his [authority], but unfortunately — "The cube is in the duchess's hands, who is currently unreachable," Wang Wei sighed.

"Exactly, sir."

"What about the experiment to recreate the cube?"

"They all ended in failures, sir."

"Even after using our 4% [Authority]?"

"Yes."

"That bitch Grand Dao really didn't leave any loopholes," Wang Wei cursed.

"Sir, please watch your language."

"Really? Now of all time?"

"Sir, I'm not warning you just for the sake of being annoying," Ai continued. "I wish to remind you that in such a situation, it's imperative that you remain calm and composed."

Wang Wei decided to ignore her. Just because he was cussing didn't mean he had lost his composure. On the contrary, it was a sign he was in a natural state.

"Sir, what do you suggest we do now?"

"Since the duchess has become an unknown variable, we need to come up with another method to deal with Death Reverence summoning his future self."

"You say that as if you were talking about a simple task," Ai sighed.

"We're used to overcoming insurmountable odds, so we'll be fine," Wang Wei calmly stated. Without wasting another second, he began to strategize. "By the way, how is Kong's situation?" Of all the methods to deal with Future Reverence, the first thing he thought of was the Divine Prince, whom Death Reverence swiftly eliminated before he became a problem.

"Still no news," Ai responded, which made Wang Wei frown. Kong and Commander Dan discovered an unknown karma thread using the token that Hongjun gave Wang Wei. The group followed it, but it's unknown whether the thread truly belongs to the prince or led to some hidden secrets of this timeline.

"In that case, we really have only one other choice," Wang Wei sighed. "Let's hope he agrees to help us."

"I should also remind you of one thing: all of our previous analysis of the power of authority was off by a wide margin. We should prepare for how to deal with that problem."

"I'm aware," Wang Wei sighed. "We'll use Project Red to counter it."

"Sir, is it truly wise to use such a valuable trump card so early in the battle?"

"Do you have another solution?"

"No."

"Then, do it."

Project Red cannot last too long, which is why Wang Wei didn't try to use it to stall Death Reverence. However, it's the perfect trump card for their upcoming battle. Of course, that's assuming Wang Wei can win in the allocated time.

Ten years was a breeze for an eternal being. And as expected, when the time came, a terrifying spatial scar appeared in the hidden world where Wang Wei resides. An annoyed Death Reverence walked out, gazing intently at Wang Wei, who stood calmly atop a mountain, gazing back at him.

"You chose a decent place as your final resting place in the world," Death Reverence uttered as he glanced around. The world was devoid of life, which made sense, since it was about to become a battlefield. However, everything else was untouched: the landscape, architecture, and any signs of civilization.

"Reinforcing the void? Do you really think you can put up a decent fight?"

"You will die here, and with your death, your future self will be gone, and I will have survived this [Time Nexus]," Wang Wei calmly declared.

"I know you pretty well, and I expect this level of confidence from you," Death Reverence stated. "But, somehow, it is quite aggravating. I can't tell why."

"I can. For a servant like you, my confidence is seen as a defiance of your Lord's bidding. In your mind, any resistance is blasphemous; I should have just accepted my fate."

Death Reverence squinted, "You think you know me?"

"In a manner of speaking," Wang Wei nodded. "The Corpse Selling Sect was a crucial part of my cultivation path during my mortal days. And from the moment I heard about you, I've been analyzing your character, updating the analysis with each new piece of information. So, to say I know you, it's true. But at the same time, this is also our first meeting."

Death Reverence did not comment on these words. Instead, he looked around and frowned, "No trap?"

"Not in the way you would think," Wang Wei smiled before snapping his finger. Project Red was activated. A red hue manifested between Heaven and Earth, immediately alarming Death Reverence; he remained composed because he was protected, but his confidence dwindled when he saw his protective shield dissipate.

"Another [Order-Disorder]? And this one is powered by all the vengeful ghosts and Obsession Spirits from all the lives I've killed in this timeline?" Death Reverence uttered. "You want to fight me one-on-one? No, you really think you have a chance."

"Those spirits were supposed to be a trump card, but I underestimated how powerful it was to control close to 90% of a world's [Authority]," Wang Wei sighed. If he didn't deal with Death Reverence's greatest reliance, he would have no chance at winning this battle, which is why he resorted to such a powerful trump card.

"You're quite something to have successfully gathered so much obsession without me knowing," Death Reverence praised. "This must be the result of Gu Xuan's Deception Dao, right? Even your long lifespan seemed to build on that. Who knew such an unremarkable Dao would be pushed to such a level by you."

"It's the cultivator that makes the Dao powerful — you should know that."

"True," Death Reverence nodded. "What else? There should be something else, right? Otherwise, I could slap you to death in an instant."

"Of course."

An enormous eye appeared in the sky of this world, followed by a third eye on Wang Wei's forehead. These two eyes were identical, and as soon as they appeared, a strong resonance occurred.

"A Saint Art?" Death Reverence thought, not truly surprised. Although this wasn't a part of the information he had gathered, he had theorized such a possibility. Wang Wei's talent indicated he was capable of creating a Saint Art as an Immortal, and with his confidence, he should have a trump card that would allow him to fight a Saint. Death Reverence's first choice was the use of the array, but his second choice was a Saint Art.

Twelve illusory pillars condensed behind Wang Wei before entering his body, and his aura suddenly swelled to a terrifying level. He clenched his hands, feeling the power coursing through his veins. This was not the first time he had acquired such strength, but this time was slightly different: this power semi-belonged to him rather than to someone else, such as Maitreya.

"Is that Supreme Unity's Saint Technique?" Death Reverence commented as he watched Heavenly Dao's Eyes slowly dissipate. "Did you improve on his technique for this Saint Art? No, while there are some parts originating from it, the foundation used seemed to be even better than Supreme Unity's technique."

"You seem to know him quite well. Was he one of your pawns?" Wang Wei asked. He would not tell the latter that the foundation of his Saint Art was Hongjun's Saint Technique, so he changed the subject.

"The path of absorbing a Source Chaos World's Heavenly Dao is the most accessible type of Sanctification, but it's also one with a high failure rate. I know everybody who has walked this path — including modern and ancient Saints, and your technique is different from all of them," Death Reverence continued. "You've never met any of these people, which leaves only one possibility: the Prehistoric World. No wonder I always felt Hongjun had a familiar aura."

He had met the so-called Guardian of the Prehistoric World and even received some information about that world from his lord. However, during that meeting, Death Reverence couldn't detect an ounce of information from Hongjun, even after using some of the Beyonder's power.

"Wow, I never thought it felt so bad to be on the other side of that conversation," Wang Wei sighed.

"Tell me, Wang Wei, did you learn about my Lord's home from the Prehistoric World?" A slight purple hue flashed in Death Reverence's eyes as he stared intensely at Wang Wei.

"How on Heaven and Earth could I learn about a being from outside our Chaos Universe?"

"You're telling the truth? No, you're just a good liar, and using Deception Dao has become an instinct."

"I resent such an accusation."

"Well, it doesn't matter." Death Reverence put his hands on his neck and pulled out his spine, which turned into a dark gray broadsword, oozing with the power of death. "Did you know I was supposed to capture your wife and use her as a bargaining chip against you? Unfortunately, she didn't show up. But don't worry, I sent someone else after her. I should be hearing news very soon."

"Is this your attempt at disturbing my mind? I expect better from you," Wang Wei calmly replied. He knew Wu Hong was all right because of their connection and Ai's existence. More importantly, he had more than enough faith in his wife to handle any situation, not to mention she's also someone with a great destiny.
