Journey of the Fate Destroying Emperor

Chapter 1898: The Final Battle V: Intense Clash

Chapter 1898: The Final Battle V: Intense Clash

"Lord, I have shamed you," Death Reverence muttered. He had long known of the only vulnerability of his [Death Power], and he had tried to fix it. Unfortunately, Buddhism and Death Reverence's death power do not match well, even with the usage of Yin-Yang. And more importantly, as Wang Wei stated, there is no absolute in this world.

Death Reverence glanced at Wang Wei, "I really can't let you live for long." While it was true Buddhism was one of his weaknesses, not any Tom and dick can injure him with a Buddhist Spell. No, the power and intensity required are not something most monks — even those who have spent their entire lives learning and reciting sutras — could muster. Yet Wang Wei did it casually, with a bit of help from the sun.

Holding his weapon, Death Reverence caressed it gently while muttering, "Oh, Angel of Death, Eternal Servant of the Lord, come to my aid."

Wang Wei's expression turned ugly, and he instinctively released another wave of the True Samadhi Flame. He was too slow. A woman dressed in black armor — with a noble yet dangerous aura, a pair of 32 black wings, and with only half her face containing any flesh — rapidly condensed from the bone sword Saint Artifact, holding a death scythe. And with one swing, the purification flame was redirected, annihilating an entire star region.

Wang Wei reacted swiftly by forcing a drop of his blood to condense into a Blood Avatar, but he knew it was just a delaying tactic. The Death Angel was on par with Death Reverence, while his clone barely had 70% of his powers; there was no competition whatsoever.

Boom!

The two messengers of death appeared before him in the blink of an eye; they were so fast that Wang Wei couldn't tell whether they had teleported or flown in a straight line. The blood avatar did not survive a single swing of Death Reverence's newly summoned sword. However, it did accomplish what its creator programmed it to do upon his death: explode.

Wang Wei flew backward using the force from the explosion, buying him a brief moment of respite to strategize. The two followed them like a cat chasing a mouse; no, more like ravenous hunters hunting their prey, determined not to end the day still hungry. Unfortunately for them, their prey fought back; strings suddenly blocked their paths, attacking them left and right. At first, Death Reverence and the Death Angel easily cut off the strings, but they were forced to slow down when Wang Wei began mixing them with the power of fate.

One string might just be a regular energy cord, but another might be connected to the fate of the world, and cutting it would incur a terrifying backlash. The sun went out, gravity dissipated, day and night stopped operating, space and time became chaotic, but these two did not care; they easily tanked the world backlash as they rapidly reached toward Wang Wei. There was only one thing on their mind: get to their target. So, they cut whatever was on their path.

"No, watch out," Death Reverence suddenly yelled as the angel cut through one set of strings, but it was too late.

As soon as she finished, the angel paused before suddenly vomiting a mouthful of blood. Then, two pairs of wings suddenly disappeared, leaving her with 28. The strings of fate controlled everything, including the Death Angel's source of power. Normally, even Wang Wei wouldn't be able to cut such a string easily, but it's a different story if the owner is the one doing it.

"Be more careful," Death Reverence ordered as he threw her a pill, which she immediately used to regenerate the wings she had previously lost. After wiping out an entire universe, Death Reverence lacked many things, but not death powers; it was literally everywhere in this timeline.

The Death Angel nodded before focusing on Wang Wei. Once again, these two attacked together, and this time they resonated with each other, boosting their strength. Wang Wei wanted to curse; it was already bad enough that there was more than one, they had top-of-the-line healing pills, and now, they were using combination attacks.

"What happened to being prideful and only fighting one-on-one?" Wang Wei thought. Unfortunately, Death Reverence was not the typical cultivator. Before everything else, he was a servant. His objective is to accomplish his Lord's ambition at any cost. Pride was useless for such a man — except for the pride and confidence he has in his Lord.

Wang Wei's mind went into overdrive, calculating his next move; no, he was calculating several moves ahead, all for the sake of securing his victory. As he was distancing himself from his attackers, another Wang Wei condensed next to him, with an identical aura; it was uncanny how much they looked the same at the anatomical — or in this case, an [Existence] — level.

"You think you can deceive me more than once?" Death Reverence sneered as a purple hue flashed in his eyes. "Not a deception, but an illusion?" Wang Wei didn't practice Illusion Dao, but wasn't the belief in free will the ultimate illusion? The belief that fate does not exist or does not matter in determining a person's life?

Death Reverence, and the angel did not stop their pursuit. It didn't matter if one of them was an illusion; they would just kill both. With one swift swing of their weapons, both Wang Wei were bisected, but no blood was revealed; instead, they dissipated with the wind. Another Wang Wei appeared behind the angel, but her wings shot countless feathers, instantly dissipating this one as well.

Death Reverence immediately scanned the world. No life can escape his sight. After all, without the ability to detect life, how can death reap it? However, the messenger of death soon frowned; no matter where he searched, he couldn't find any sign of life, which was an anomaly since his detecting methods were top-notch, and on top of that, he knew almost everything about Wang Wei – or, he should have.

"Is it because of Heavenly Dao?" Death Reverence thought. Wang Wei is connected to this world's Heavenly Dao, which is technically life and not life. With this assumption, he checked once again, but aside from detecting a few scattered traces of Heavenly Dao's existence, he couldn't find anything else: neither its concrete locale nor anyone bound to it. This made sense, since it was Wang Wei's source of power and required the highest level of protection. However, as someone who prides himself on knowing how to manipulate the rules of Heaven and Earth, Death Reverence felt it was a great shame that he had failed to discover Heavenly Dao's location.

Boom!

A beam of Samadhi Flame rushed from the sun, trying to purify these two heathens. A Golden Buddha manifested in the void and raised its palm to aid the flame. Scriptures about purification and enlightenment of the mind spread from every corner of this battle world. All of these techniques worked in perfect harmony to target these two messengers of death.

"Initiate Final Judgment," Death Reverence said to the angel with gritted teeth. Although these spells wouldn't truly hurt him while he was on guard, they were annoying. And since he couldn't find Wang Wei, he'll destroy every corner of this world; he doesn't believe the bastard won't reveal himself once there is nothing or nowhere to hide.

As for these Buddhist Attacks? Death Reverence was enough to deal with them. With one sword slash, he easily countered the Buddha's palm and the flame. And with one scream, he overwhelmed the chanting, turning their holy nature into something terrifying and ominous.

Meanwhile, the Death Angel followed her orders. She calmly inserted the scythe into the ground, and that was it. The earth cracked, volcanoes erupted everywhere, the grass withered, mountains collapsed, the ocean raged, sending tsunami after tsunami. Armageddon had descended on the world, and death had claimed another victory.

Death Reverence sensed a minor spatial fluctuation and immediately teleported to its source. Floating in a pool of water in front of him was a smudge painting, and with a flicker of his wrist, it flew into Death Reverence. He glanced intently at the painting before suddenly remembering something; he immediately turned around, but it was too late.

Wang Wei had reappeared, and more importantly, he had bound the Death Angel with sealing strings before using the effect of the last Saint ring: absorb. By turning the angel into the purest form of energy, Wang Wei will have more options in this battle: whether to further enhance the other stat-boosting rings or to use them for healing.

"Wang Ju's technique?" Death Reverence muttered while crushing the painting. He knew of a weaker version of this technique since Wang Ju had used it. By lowering their dimensionality, the caster can enter a hidden world where only 2-dimensional lifeforms exist. This world is well hidden, and most people do not even know of its existence, let alone think to search for it.

"Well, technically speaking, it was my technique; she just created it for me," Wang Wei smiled.

"You're happy too early," Death Reverence sneered. He raised his hand, and to Wang Wei's horror, the bone sword rapidly recondensed. On top of that, another Death Angel materialized, but that wasn't even the worst. The angel embraced Death Reverence before turning into dark armor that covered him from head to toe.
