Journey of the Fate Destroying Emperor

Chapter 1911: Human Faith

Chapter 1911: Human Faith

"Damn it, I miscalculated," Wang Wei said with gritted teeth. It's not like he never thought about the coffin reserved for him. However, based on his character analysis of the two, he figured they would never use something that was their Lord's property. For someone as extremely religious as Death Reverence, such an act was nothing but blasphemy. However, his mistake was thinking that Future Reverence and Death Reverence were the same. The latter might have some reserves, but the former was all about doing everything it takes to finish the mission. Plus, he's not technically real; he only exists because of a technique, which means he has less of a reserve against the consequences of his actions.

"What do we do now?" Maitreya frowned.

"Let me think."

"How about we use the same plan you used in the Chaos Origin Realm?"

"Grand Dao hasn't already blocked me from using the same tactic," Wang Wei shook his head.

"No, I mean with me. My name is connected to the [Buddhist Destiny]. Maybe we could summon a projection of the Buddha, or at the very least, resonate with [Buddhism Qi Luck] and alarm one of their third-step powerhouses."

Wang Wei thought briefly before shaking his head, "We don't have the time or infrastructure to pull off such a plan. Plus, with the seal in place, it's hard to say whether it would succeed. However, you reminded me of something."

"What?"

"The —" Wang Wei stopped himself, and his expression became severe. The battlefield had changed. Future Reverence didn't just use the coffin to escape death. Now that he knew their greatest trump card had failed, he used the coffin to bolster his strength and, with a single attack, annihilated most of the Primordial Heaven Sword Saint's body.

"That damn bastard," Wang Wei cursed. After his body was destroyed, the Sword Saint fled with his Soul Imprint; the worst part was that he did not return to the array but instead hid in an unknown space. Wang Wei turned his attention to the duchess, and, as expected, she was already in a terrible state despite having suffered only a few attacks.

"If you have a plan, you need to act swiftly."

"I know," Wang Wei said. "I'm going to show you a karmic link, and you need to do everything in your power to enhance it."

"Understand," Maitreya nodded.

"Ai, sacrifice the array to boost the karmic link."

"Sir, are you sure about this?"

"Do it."

In a matter of seconds, the Primordial Sword Dao Array collapsed, leaving only a small dimension for Wang Wei and Maitreya to inhabit. However, he still could not connect with Kong on the other side of the karmic link.

"Ai, could you get more Heavens from the Highest Firmament?"

"I'm afraid not, sir. Now that he holds the advantage in the battle, he has plenty of time to block our attempts."

"In that case, sacrifice all our [Authority]," Wang Wei ordered.

"Sir, is this wise?"

"Do it."

Ai followed the order and, for a brief moment, felt a connection to an unknown world, but the link was only fleeting. Gritting his teeth, Wang Wei contacted the duchess: "I need the [authority] back."

"What's going on?"

"This may be our last chance of survival."

The Erudite Duchess hesitated; the authority she held was the only reason she could last so long after Future Reverence received the blessing from the coffin. Without it, she did not know how much longer she could take this beating.

"Do you need all of it?"

"Very likely."

"Fine," the duchess replied. She returned it to him while activating Project Battle String; to be precise, she sacrificed it for a momentary power boost. With an artificial Critical Hit Path as the sacrifice, the duchess' power was elevated to the point where she could block a few blows, but that was the full extent of her resistance. Meanwhile, Wang Wei did not hesitate to continue his plan.

"So close," Wang Wei thought with gritted teeth. Even after sacrificing the duchess' [authority], the connection was not completed; he still needed just a tiny more.

"I'll do it," Maitreya suddenly said.

"No!"

"I'm the perfect sacrifice."

"I'm not saying no out of sentimentality. We need a power whose essence is on the same level as [Grand Dao Authority]. Sacrificing you would be pointless."

"Then, what can you do? Do you have aunty [authority] left?"

"I don't, but I know someone who does."

Wang Wei did not hesitate to try to contact Siwangji. Although he didn't know where she was hidden, there was still a karmic connection between them. And to ensure his message reaches her, he also sends it to Xu Shi. Then, he waited.

Five minutes passed, and no one answered. So, he sent another round of messages. Ten minutes passed, and the duchess was in terrible shape: half her body was missing, and her pretty face was no longer visible. By now, Future Reverence had sensed that Wang Wei was up to no good and wanted to stop him, but the duchess would not give him any opportunity. Before he kills her, he cannot take a single step toward Wang Wei.

"Are you sure she's reliable?" Maitreya asked after half an hour. By now, Wang Wei had also begun to doubt himself. And it also dawned on him how risky his plan was. Siwangji only had 1% authority left, and it was the key to her survival. Would she really hand it over? This time, he may have put his faith in the wrong person.

After sighing to himself, Wang Wei prepared to think of another solution. Was there another way? Just as his brain was about to explode from analyzing too much information and deducing a path of survival, the Death Chaos Demon God finally returned his communication talisman.

"Just know I'm doing this for Xu Shi," Siwangji proclaimed as soon as she appeared on the screen before Wang Wei. Then, she sent the [authority].

"Hmm? Why is it 2%?" Wang Wei asked.

"The other 1% is from Suiji."

"Her?"

"She said you reminded him of someone, so she's betting on you."

"Why do you sound so close?" Wang Wei asked.

"We've met, we've fought together and against each other, so isn't it normal for the next course of our relationship to be friendship?"

"Normal my ass," Wang Wei thought. However, now was not the time to ponder how these two had become friends. "Tell her I'll remember this favor."

"What about my favor?"

"I'll repay it to Xu Shi," Wang Wei replied.

"You!"

He ended the conversation before sacrificing another wave of [authority]. Wang Wei suddenly felt he was lucky. Two percent [Authority] was exactly the amount he needed to perfect the link. So, without hesitating for a moment, he transferred a projection to the other end of the karmic thread.

"What a strange world," Wang Wei muttered. As far as he could detect, he was in this vast world with a tower at the center. All of the creatures in that world were Light-based Lifeforms, but they were having a terrible time. Wars and natural disasters were killing the majority of the population at a rapid rate.

Wang Wei knew this was not an accident. Each time someone died, their soul and the light essence of their bodies flew to the central tower. He immediately realized that Prince Jiang Ye was using a method similar to the one he used to complete his [Perfect Foundation] to heal his injuries.

"Let's see what Kong is doing," Wang Wei thought. His projection flew through the karmic thread and immediately reached the end. As he appeared, the sight before him was a bit odd. Three people were fighting a golden creature. The first one was Kong, who was now only a soul and using a True Saint Artifact and an array to support the others. The other was Saint Ink Flame — Wang Wei's old partner — and one of the Saints that Commander Dan recommended to take on his mission. Behind the golden creature is Prince Jiang Ye on a bed, surrounded by a golden shield.

"Wang Wei?" Kong asked in surprise. "Quick, help us. We can't hold on for much longer."

"Maitreya," Wang Wei instantly called. Another projection appeared beside him. The Mother Buddha immediately assessed the situation.

"I can't bring out my full power, but I can immobilize him so you can strike him down."

"No, we can kill it; we must seal it."

"Does it keep reviving?" Wang Wei asked.

"Yes," Kong answered. "And you must also stay at least 20 meters from the bed."

"Alright."

With everyone working together, the golden creature — likely a natural guardian forged from Jiang Ye's power — was swiftly sealed, finally granting Emperor Kong's group a moment of respite. After spending so many years constantly fighting and surviving in this hellhole, the group felt relieved. More importantly, they finally had an opportunity to recuperate.

"What the hell happened to you?" Wang Wei asked, glancing at the terrible shape these three were in. Given that their groups had a dozen Saints, he wanted to know why only three remained.
