Chapter 1947: Legitimacy
Chapter 1947: Legitimacy
Wu Hong returned to the Sovereign Peak and sat on her throne. The sermon's benefits were immense. First, she organized all her knowledge of the Quasi-Saint Realm cultivation technique, allowing her to perfect much of it, which will help when she spreads it in the Primordial Timeline.
Secondly, the abundant Qi Luck was enough to turn more than 20% of her Qi Luck Dragon into a transparent color. According to Wu Hong's calculation, 20% was the best number: enough to provide some aid, but not enough to rely on too much.
The transformation took only a few minutes, but when it finished, Wu Hong realized a decent amount remained. However, Wu Hong wasn't happy about that. Instead, she frowned. "Isn't this a bit too much?" she thought while holding a piece of luck. It was odd: one sermon should not bring so much Transcendent Luck.
Wu Hong took a moment to think of a reason. "Merit? Grand Dao still exists in some form, and although she can't provide me with merit, she compensates me with more Qi Luck. Is she trying to encourage me to continue reviving the Emperor Path? Interesting."
Wu Hong was sure she was close to the truth, but it would take time to verify. For now, she needed to think about what to do with the excessive luck. Right now, the quantity is at its lowest. As the Emperor Path truly revives, the amount she'll receive will dramatically improve.
"Hm?" Wu Hong suddenly sensed something and closed her eyes: the first avatar was contacting her.
"Is the sermon finished?"
"It is," the second avatar nodded. "Do you need something?"
"The holy land's Saint resources are running low."
"What? How come?"
"Maintaining the Three Path Array is not cheap."
"Didn't Emperor Sui leave methods to create Saint resources for them?" the second avatar asked.
"Yes, but these methods are slow, and as I said, maintaining the array is costly."
"Wait, from what I know about the array, it shouldn't cost that much just to run it."
"Do you remember when I said the array had three sections? Well, the third one is a battlefield located in the Six Path Samsara. That section is under even more pressure than the Source Qi Space."
"Wait, the Six Paths Samsara is still operational?"
"Yes and no," the first avatar said. "The Human Path is still operational; the Animal Path is barely holding on; everything else has been destroyed."
"That would explain why I've mostly seen humans in this timeline," the second avatar nodded. "So, why are you telling me this? Do you want me to improve Emperor Sui's resource manufacturing operation?"
"No. I've already checked, and there is nothing wrong with it. In fact, it's one of the only few perfectly intact foundations of the Holy Land."
"Then?"
"The Xu Clan has a smaller version: see if you can recapture it. But more importantly, have the other two holy lands increase their funding. These bastards have been leaving the majority of the cost to us."
"I see. I'll do my best."
The two spoke for a few minutes before the Holy Lord interrupted them.
"What is it?"
"The Xu Clan Heir and the two Holy Land's Saint Sons want to see you."
"Send them in," Wu Hong said, preparing to put the luck away. However, a thought suddenly struck her: "Can I use Qi Luck to solve the resource issue?... A person blessed with luck will easily find resources and rare inheritance, meaning they are inherently linked. I may be able to use causality to skip the process of finding resources and directly turn luck into resources."
Luck is a universal power, and transforming it into other things is nothing revolutionary: cultivators do it all the time—especially in battle. However, those transformations are usually temporary. Now all Wu Hong has to do is make the transformation permanent.
"This is an idea worth pursuing," Wu Hong thought while slowly putting the luck away. Her eyes then shifted to the three people in the room, who were trying to hide their annoyance that they were forced to wait until she woke up from her thoughts.
The first one was a handsome man who uncannily resembled Emperor Sui. The only difference was his aura; he lacked Emperor Sui's nobility and confident, domineering presence. Instead, the young man projected nobility, but anyone with a bit of discernment could see the lust, false bravado, and snake-like cunning beneath it.
"You're Xu Yuhan?"
"Since when has the Holy Land become so disrespectful?" Xu Yuhan asked. Every Saintess and Holy Lord always refers to the Xu Clan heir as "Young Master or Master."
"You're not a Purple Heart Human?" Wu Hong asked, ignoring his words.
"What did you say?"
"You have an [Adaptation Heart], but it's not something innate; it's something you acquired after awakening Emperor Sui's bloodline. So, you're not a Purple Heart Human — you just have their bloodline."
"Is there a difference?" Xu Yuhan asked with gritted teeth.
"A bloodline means you need to awaken the power; awakening can fail, which means that not all members of your Xu Clan are Purple Heart Humans," Wu Hong calmly stated. "What happened to the original clan? Now that I think about it, why is your surname Xu and not Sui?"
Xu Yuhan's face turned red and green; he felt he might pop a vein at any time. The Holy Lord stepped forward and said. "Saintess, the Purple Heart Race was almost annihilated even before Emperor Sui proved the Dao. In fact, he was the only survivor of a brutal genocide.
"Later in his life, he revived his clan, but after his disappearance, they were once again annihilated. According to records, the Sui Clan had to change their last name to escape this annihilation."
"Do we know anything about the event that caused the second annihilation? And why did they need to change their name?"
"We do not know much," the Holy Lord revealed.
"So, what you're saying is there is no way we can trace their bloodline directly to Emperor Sui."
"Hold on, Saintess," Su Chengfeng said. Wu Hong turned to look at this young man dressed in all green. He was also a snake. Wu Hong could tell. However, unlike Xu Yuhan, this one was better at hiding his true nature.
"Are you doubting the Xu Clan's bloodline?"
"I'm not doubting anything. I'm just asking questions."
"And who are you to question my lineage?" Xu Yuhan said, his voice slightly raised. "Saint Blood runs through my veins. Our Xu Clan has Emperor Sui's legacy; we have his blessing, and the deep foundation he left for us — his descendants."
"That's not as valid an argument as you think," Wu Hong casually replied. "There are many ways to steal a bloodline — even a Saint one. Not to mention other explanations such as that your Xu Clan was a distant relative of the Sui Clan — so distant that even your name is different; after their annihilation, one or two of you successfully awakened your bloodline; you claimed legitimacy and even took the foundation of the Sui Clan."
"How dare you!"
"Lower your tone." Wu Hong released a terrifying pressure that instantly suppressed Xu Yuhan. If not for the fact that she knew the Holy Land still revered Emperor Sui and could not immediately break ties, she would have forced him to kneel.
"Saintess, your arguments are flawed just by the fact that Young Master Xu looks exactly like Emperor Sui."
Wu Hong glanced at Cui Yun. Dressed in an all-white robe, with soft eyes, gentle features, pointy earlobes, and holding a fan with the Yin-Yang Symbol, she exuded a natural aura akin to nature's peacefulness. However, Wu Hong's first impression of her was: hypocrite.
"That is true," Wu Hong nodded, turning her gaze back to Xu Yuhan. "His bloodline is also very pure — almost reaching the ancestral level. So, that's going on."
Xu Yuhan was too scared to speak, so Su Chengfeng stepped up. "What do you mean by this?" He had a feeling he wouldn't like the next words coming out of the Saintess's mouth, but not knowing might be even worse for him.
"Bloodlines are an interesting thing. In the [Mortal Stage] of cultivation, they provide a significant advantage. In the [Immortal Stage], they are balanced by the long process of maturing or the significant amount of resources required. In the [Saint Stage], or, to be precise, Saint Bloodlines are nothing but a curse.
"Saints are unique [Existence]. Everything connected to them will naturally be affected: whether it's the environment, the laws of Heaven and Earth, or even their descendants. They are so powerful that nothing can escape their influence — whether directly or indirectly.
"Now, if you were a proper Saint Clan, you would have been taught at a young age that your priority is to form your own path. The more different or distant you are from the source of your bloodline, the higher your chances of sanctifying in the future.
"However, by looking at you, I can see that is far from the truth. You have Emperor Sui's bloodline; you cultivate his method; you practice his technique; you use his soul cultivation method; you even practiced the same Dao. Your clan might have thought they were cultivating the next Emperor Sui, but little do they know they were systematically cutting off your Saint Path.
"No, even worse, they were slowly turning you into the perfect Vessel for Emperor Sui to either take over or revive in case he ever needs to."
