Journey of the Fate Destroying Emperor

Chapter 1993: Reunion of Allies IV: Xiao Songxi

Wang Wei didn't explain right away; instead, he handed them a talisman detailing what Emperor Kong had achieved during the expedition before his capture. Dong Lifen and Wang Peng tried to remain calm as they digested the information.

"Confucianism — the Way of Kong," Dong Lifen uttered. "No wonder I always felt the Literary Way was missing something compared to Buddhism and Taoism. It turns out it was still incomplete."

Wang Peng sighed. "Master Kong truly deserves the title of a Sage." It's easy to predict how much more power and cohesion the Literary Way will have once this form is spread. Of course, there will also be major resistance.

"Can we steal his destiny?" Dong Lifen asked.

"Honey."

"Now is not the time to be soft. Confucianism is literally a new trend of Heaven and Earth. This is the kind of destiny that can accompany you for all three steps, and maybe beyond. We can't give up such an opportunity."

"I understand how you feel, but do you think I can bear such a destiny in my current state?" Wang Peng was talented. After all, he was born into the main branch of the Wang Clan, and with such a wife supporting him, he had abundant resources. Unfortunately, he had no unique destiny, and more importantly, he was born too late. After so many years, he was now in the Seventh Heaven of the Paragon Realm, far ahead of everybody in his generation.

"It's still not too late. There is still time for you to catch up and compete for it."

Wang Peng smiled wryly. His wife was gentle about everything except his future. "You must understand. I —"

"You can stop showing your affection in front of me. This destiny doesn't belong to you, and will not belong to you."

Wang Peng blushed, but Dong Lifen remained composed. "Then, why did you tell us? What's your plan?"

Wang Wei calmly handed her a booklet. Ever since Emperor Kong explained what he had done, he had been scheming. Grand Dao either forced Emperor Kong to inherit Confucius's spirit, or used his ideas to improve the Chaos Universe. Regardless of the truth, Wang Wei saw an opportunity.

Throughout Chinese history, besides Confucius, a few people are considered Sages, including his fourth-generation disciple: Meng Ke, Master Meng, or Mencius. Many philosophers believe Mencius improved or perfected Confucius' ideas, and Wang Wei plans to use that. His plan is simple: wait until Emperor Kong spreads "Confucianism," and then Wang Peng will appear and present the ideas of Mencius, divide Kong's destiny, and become one of the leaders of Confucianism.

Of course, the plan isn't perfect, mostly because Kong's Confucianism isn't a perfect replica of Earth's version. His version includes some of Emperor Kong's personal ideologies, and even some ideas from Mencius. As such, when designing Wang Peng's ideology, he drew not only on Mencius, but also on other philosophical ideas from Earth—both Eastern and Western.

"Do we have to wait for him to spread Confucianism? Can't we strike first?" Dong Lifen immediately asked. This plan was brilliant and, more importantly, perfect for both him and Peng'er.

"Confucianism will be a large pie, which means a lot of people will want a piece. So, it's in our best interest to let Kong face most of the pressure before we take our share."

"That makes sense." Dong Lifen calmed down; the desire for success had gotten to her.

"You still need to refine this ideology, but I'm sure this is not an issue for you?"

"...Honey?"

"Um? Oh, no problem, sect master."

"Then, you can start now."

Wang Peng paused, looked at the two of them, and understood; he bowed politely, then flew away.

Wang Wei nodded, then glanced at Dong Lifen. "You understand that choosing such a Saint Path means a slower path?" Ma Liqiu only needs the Void Illusion Realm for her Saintification, so if she wanted, Dong Lifen would only need one Dream World.

"I understand that, but I feel this approach has a lot of potential."

"That is true," Wang Wei admitted. Once the Dream Worlds are spread to countless worlds, it will be easier for Dong Lifen and Wang Peng to use its power and condense their Flesh Quintessence.

"Well, it's your choice." Wang Wei was happy she chose this path since it meant she'll have to rely heavily on the sect to spread and protect the Dream World. One of the best ways to ensure a successful alliance has always been to intertwine benefits and profits.

Dong Lifen didn't stay long. After an hour of discussion, she left, and Wang Qi brought in the next guest: Xiao Songxi. Wang Wei calmly observed him: dressed in all white with a peaceful, scholarly aura, and a Peak Boundless Paragon cultivation with one Ultimate Skill mastered. However, that wasn't the most interesting thing about him. Years ago, Xiao Songxi asked him if he could switch to the Eternal Path using his Sacrifice Dao. Wang Wei told him it might be possible if he sacrificed the right person, and now they have confirmed it.

"How is the family?"

"Great," Xiao Songxi replied with a smile. His sister was one of the sect's Saintesses, and now, after becoming an Empyrean, she swiftly gained the status of a Peak Seed. Meanwhile, his mother had used merit from the war to switch paths, successfully prove the Dao, and become an Eternal Emperor. "Thank you for everything."

"I was just keeping my word."

"And how many cultivators do you know still do that?"

"Fair point. Anyway, let's get down to business. How is the Research Team?" Many have been doing research since the lower dimension, but he didn't establish an official team until he met the Impermanence Society. Xiao Songxi has been part of that team, and over the years, he grew into its Vice-Leader.

"Much of our research has borne fruit, which is why I'm here."

"Any high-level one?"

"Yes. The Two Dao Imprints Experiment."

"Oh?" Wang Wei immediately focused.

Xiao Songxi handed him a report, then explained. "There are only a few situations in which a person can have two Dao Imprints. First, it's a temporary copy; replicating or faking other Dao Imprints that exist simultaneously with the true imprint doesn't seem to cause any trouble.

"Second, it's possible to condense a second, illusory Dao Imprint, but only inside the Grandmist World."

"Isn't that useless?" He can do whatever he pleases inside the Grandmist World.

"Not at all. If done correctly, and using the ChronoSpirit, we've successfully resonated the Illusion Dao Imprint and the True Imprint. Unfortunately, we are still working on possible applications."

The report was highly detailed, containing all the research attempts to condense a second attempt; the research had been going on for a while, so there were many. However, most failed, with only two "successes."

"I remember one of the teams was studying how to divide the [Existence] into two separate but connected wholes. How is that going?"

"There has been success in dividing the [Existence], but the experiment subjects never live past five years — no matter their cultivation level."

"Can they survive after recombining their [Existence]?"

"Yes, and with minor side effects."

Wang Wei nodded. "I need you to combine your experiment. See that the two independent [Existence] can condense separate Dao Imprints."

Xiao Songxi's eyes shone lightly. "That's a good idea."

"I also need you to secretly leave the timeline to conduct this experiment. I want to know if a second Dao Imprint can be condensed in other timelines. You should also send a team to the Origin Rune Continent."

"For what?"

"You'll know when you get there." Wang Wei wanted to know if a second imprint could be condensed inside another Dao Source. His wife still had some pieces of Gu Chang'an's Dao Source, which he planned to use for this experiment.

"Do you want me to participate in the experiment with the Origin Rune Continent?"

"It's up to you."

"Okay."

"Is there anything else?"

"Yes, two things," Xiao Songxi replied. "Firstly, there will be a meeting of the Impermanence Society in less than 10 million years. Do you plan to attend, or do you want me to still represent you?"

"Ten million years? That's too short of a notice. Go, and keep an eye out for anything that might interest me. I'll attend the next meeting."

Xiao Songxi nodded, unsurprised by the decision. A lot is happening, or will happen, in this world; he didn't think society would be the boss' priority for a while. "The second thing is about the Sea Race —"

"They contacted you?"

"Yes, and they heavily implied that they were willing to hand power to me and surrender to you."

"Ignore them. They just want to use our hands to deal with the Barbarian Race; if the situation is muddled enough, they might have a chance at a comeback."

"I figured as much, but I thought it was best to still report it."

"Focus on your research, and ignore everything else." Wang Wei didn't expect Xiao Songxi to have research talent, but since he did, he'd use it.
