Chapter 1994: Reunion of Allies V: Wrath & Lu Chuntao

As Wang Wei watched Xiao Songxi walk away, he couldn't help but think of someone else. "Wang Qi, have you kept an eye on Yang Guowei's mother?"

"No. The last thing I heard was that she had entered a retreat to enter the Paragon Realm. I haven't heard anything since then, so I figured she might have failed."

Wang Wei's silver-gray eyes lit up as he immediately harnessed fate's power. He sighed, shaking his head.

"I was right?"

"She did fail, but only because someone attacked her. Now, she has reincarnated and is starting over."

"Do you want me to help?"

"No need." Everyone has their own fate. Wang Wei had already helped her before, but she still failed. Their fate had ended, so there was no point in interfering further. "Who is next?"

"Wrath is waiting, while the others have sent replies saying they will arrive in the next few days. Oh, and Xu Shi also wants to see you."

"Is she here?"

"No, she said she'll be here in a few hours."

"Kong and Lin Fan are missing, so she must be busy holding things down," Wang Wei said. "Alright, send Wrath and that woman."

Wang Qi teleported away, and a few seconds later, Wrath and Lu Chuntao walked toward the pavilion. Wang Wei did not stand to welcome them or offer them a drink. Instead, he calmly sipped his wine while watching them.

Wrath sighed. "Is this necessary? After all, we are old friends."

"My time is precious, so don't waste it. Why are you here?"

Wrath looked at her wife, but Lu Chuntao was pretending she wasn't there. "Fine," she thought, turning toward Wang Wei. "We're here to join the Dao Opening Sect. We're willing to become one of your affiliates."

"Well, I didn't expect that." He thought they came for the trouble with the Chaos Demon Gods.

"I'm sure you're aware of our situation. We've tried everything, but these creatures refused to leave us alone."

"But why are you coming to me? You should know you're no longer welcome here."

Wrath's lips twitched; this man was too petty. "We've tried others, but they have not worked out."

"How so?"

Wrath looked at Lu Chuntao again, even motioning for her to take control of the conversation, but she kept playing ignorant. "Buddhism and Taoism cannot accept us."

Wang Wei nodded. The City of Sin is essentially the world's biggest brothel, so whether for their image or other reasons, these two factions cannot openly accept these two.

"The swordsmen looked down on us; the Qin Court and the Skill Association wanted us to disband our powers and join them. As for the Limitless Exchange Hall? Well, they are now a group of paper tigers."

"The Demon Race?"

"Too many people lusting after Tao'er's bloodline."

"The Origin Seal Continent?"

"I can't serve under anyone but her."

Wang Wei looked Lu Chuntao up and down. "Arrogant, aren't we?"

"Anyway, I'd rather die."

Wang Wei tapped his finger on the desk. "So, you ran out of choices and came to me — the sucker, huh? The one you think will be stupid enough to not only take you back, but also retain much of your power and freedom."

"I told you this was a bad idea. Let's go."

"Sit down," Wrath said, pushing her back into the seat. "We came to you because you are the most open-minded."

Wang Wei chuckled, but his face held no joy, only a deep sneer and mockery. Wrath remained composed, while Lu Chuntao tried her best not to explode.

"You are the only one who can fully utilize our worth. Most of these factions can see our worth, but they are suspicious and only want to control us, not realizing that approach limits our development. But you — you are different."

"Appealing to my ego?" Wang Wei asked, stroking his nonexistent beard.

"Is it working?"

"Unfortunately, it is."

"Then?"

Wang Wei didn't answer; instead, he slowly stood and faced northwest. His gaze pierced the endless space to observe the Infinite Divine Court's territory. Without the black dome, spying on them would be much easier, but he didn't go too far for fear of alarming them.

"I can accept your offer," Wang Wei said, turning to face them.

"But?" Wrath asked.

"You must first fulfill two conditions."

"Which are?"

Wang Wei raised his hand, manifesting an orb. Lu Chuntao's eyes squinted: how could she not recognize that artifact? It's the very one she spent countless yuan epochs scheming for, but was eventually stripped from her hands.

"Are you trying to humiliate us?"

Wang Wei looked at her calmly, saying nothing, prompting Wrath to immediately appease her wife. "We're listening."

"First, I need you to lure the Time Eater so I can kill him. Use —"

"How are we supposed to do that?"

Wang Wei frowned. "If you don't want to be here, you're free to leave. Nothing is stopping you."

"Apologies," Wrath said. "Give me a moment." She took Lu Chuntao aside and talked for more than ten minutes. Finally, the couple returned to the pavilion, with Wrath fully in charge of the negotiation and the Serpent Empress reverting to her mute persona.

"Please."

"As I was about to say, you can use the [Time Skipping Orb] to make it look like you're condensing a Time Bloodline. Make sure everything appears as if you were doing it out of desperation."

"And you're sure that's enough to lure him out?" Time Eater hasn't shown up for quite a while. Many people believe the Infinite Divine Court killed him after losing his usefulness.

"If done in the right place, it should."

"Are you talking about the River of Time?"

"No, the Source Qi Space." Wang Wei had a nagging feeling the Time Eater was responsible, or at least crucial, to the Divine Court's ability to navigate the Source Qi Space.

"I'm not following."

"And you don't need to. Just follow my plan."

"I see. What's your second condition?"

"You need to cooperate with the sect to lure these three Chaos Demon Gods."

"You want to capture them?"

"Obviously," Wang Wei replied. "Do these two things, and then the sect will accept you as one of our affiliates."

"Wait, you want us to do the work before you accept us? What if you go back on your word?"

Wang Wei calmly gazed at her. "That's a risk you must be willing to bear."

"You!" Lu Chuntao's face turned ugly.

"We accept," Wrath immediately said. Wang Wei looked at her, then turned to Lu Chuntao and waited calmly.

"Her…decision is also…mine."

"Good." He handed her the orb, but right before she retrieved it, he pulled back.

"What? You're changing your mind already?"

"By now, you should understand the consequences of using a foreign item as your Saint Path, correct? I don't need to remind you, right?" It would be a waste if Lu Chuntao ruined her future because of her past obsession with the Time Skipping Orb.

"I know," she replied with gritted teeth.

"And thank you for what happened before," Wrath added. With the Golden Merit Scroll, they now understood how Lu Chuntao was on the wrong path. Had Wang Wei not taken the artifact, Lu Chuntao's Saint Path would have failed badly or condensed into the weakest foundation.

"Good."

Lu Chuntao held the [Time Skipping Orb], and a flurry of emotions rushed into her mind. How much time and effort had she spent to acquire this thing? How much did she suffer after losing it? And today, the man who took it from her casually handed it back as if it were just a common spirit stone.

"Let's discuss the nitty-gritty."

Wang Wei's plan had to start from this meeting. After leaving the sect, these two had to pretend things didn't go well—as if they were rejected; they'd then keep trying other means to solve the problems without success, leading the Heavenly Serpent Empress to try something desperate in the Source Qi Space.

"With such a clean background and alluring bait, I don't believe you won't show up," Wang Wei thought. He still remembered his promise to Time Eater that he would refine his body and soul into the best Time Artifact. As someone who kept his word, Wang Wei was fully prepared to fulfill it.

"I wonder if I could turn the City of Sin into a faction capable of competing with the Desire Heart Palace." Lu Chuntao's City of Sin was just a large brothel that could gather a lot of information, but Wang Wei felt it had much more potential—especially in the fields of Seven Emotions and Six Desires.

"Right now is not the time to be competing with the Ji Clan, so let's shelve this plan for now," Wang Wei thought.

"Wang Qi, who is next?"

"It's Lady Xu Shi, but she hasn't arrived yet. It will probably be a few hours."

Wang Wei frowned. "What about Ma Liqiu?"

"The meeting is set for three days later."

"She didn't come immediately?"

"Boss, she's a busy woman; she can't drop everything just because you want to meet her." Wang Qi was speechless about his boss' personality. If he doesn't like someone, he'll become extremely biased against them.

"Whose side are you on?"

"I'm on the side of reason."

"Does reason pay your salary?" Wang Wei asked.

"I mean, I'm on your side, boss. She was wrong for now showing up."

"That's more like it."
