Chapter 1998: His Wrath
Chapter 1998: His Wrath
"You'll regret this."
Wang Wei turned his head sideways and glanced at her. "Is this a threat?"
Ma Liqiu's cold eyes stared at him. "Mark my words: you'll regret this." Her avatar dissipated from the court, while Wang Wei's gentle demeanor dissipated.
He calmly turned his head to Maitreya and said, "You cannot blame me for what happened next."
Maitreya sighed. "I won't interfere in whatever you do."
"Good."
The Mother Buddha watched him teleport away and shook her head. "Why did you have to provoke him to this extent?" The last time she saw Wang Wei this furious, an entire timeline was erased. Although she didn't think he'd go this far, Ma Liqiu's fate looked grim.
"Pride is really the bane of wisdom, harmony, and success." Maitreya understood Ma Liqiu's mentality. In her era, the three religions — the Literary Way, Taoism, and Buddhism — dominated until her rise. By stepping over the Literary Way, the Ma Clan dominated the Eternal Ascension World.
Unfortunately, she failed to realize that the Eternal Ascension World was, back then, just a mediocre Source Chaos World. With the 81 Tribulations pushing the world's luck and destiny to their peak, the Eternal Ascension World was nothing special. In that era, only 4 Primals existed, including Ma Liqiu, and she killed the Literary Sage. Her dominance proved nothing compared to the Golden Era, or even the current period.
"Let's hope Wang Wei doesn't go too far."
After returning to the sect, Wang Wei immediately summoned the ancestors along with Dong Lifen.
"What's going on?" Qiyuan asked.
"No time to explain in detail. We are going to strip the Void Illusion Realm for parts and fuse its essence into the Dream World. Dong Lifen, are you ready?"
"No issue."
"Alright, let's move."
The others looked at each other, then followed Wang Wei. Using his authority, Wang Wei sent a last-minute message to all users: the Void Illusion Realm would shut down, fuse with the Dream World, and kick everyone out. Then, he led the ancestors directly into the realm's core, where the soul energy was being stored.
"That bitch already stole 20% of the reserve? Good, good, good. Now, I don't have any guilt whatsoever for what I'm about to do to you."
Wang Wei activated his authority to stop Ma Liqiu's theft while the others helped him. Everyone then worked together to tear apart the Void Illusion Realm, piece by piece, and send it to Dong Lifen for processing.
"Why do I feel like he's a fuse that's about to explode?" Wang Chong asked through divine sense.
"He is," Qiyuan replied. "Maitreya just sent me a warning about him."
"What warning?"
"Don't let him go too far."
"That's concerning," Li Ming said.
"Indeed."
Even Wang Chong admitted it.
"I'm curious what exactly he's planning," Yan Hai said.
Wang Chong rolled his eyes. "Can you look a little less excited?"
"He's grown too fast, and people haven't realized how terrifying he's become; this might be a great opportunity to show it and build our prestige."
Qiyuan nodded; he agreed with Yan Hai's words, but he was also worried about Maitreya's warning.
"So, should we say something to him?" Normally, Wang Chong doesn't mince words, but Wang Wei's current volatile state might backfire if he's too blunt.
"Let's just tell him not to go too far," Qiyuan said.
"Alright."
A few hours passed, and the Void Illusion Realm ceased to exist, with only a small part surviving: the Ma Clan residence. Ma Liqiu separated it from the realm as soon as the authority was taken away from her. This small piece was a saving grace, since it meant her Saint Path still had a chance—albeit at a much lower percentage than before.
Wang Wei returned to the sect and didn't immediately set out on his warpath. As his motto went, business mattered more than personal feeling. So, he called Dong Lifen to check on her situation.
"The essence of the Void Illusion Realm is countless times higher than our Dream World; it will take time to completely refine it."
"How long?"
"Minimum 20 yuan epochs, and maximum, 40-50."
"Can people still use it in the meantime?"
"That's the issue," Dong Lifen replied, "I would need to shut it down completely."
"We can't shut it down," Qiyuan said. "This is the perfect opportunity to incorporate the Void Illusion Realm's customers as our own."
"That's the issue."
"How do you suggest we solve it?"
"We can infuse only a small portion of the essence while keeping the Dream World operational; this will extend the time needed to refine it, but once Sir Wang Bo sanctifies, he might be able to solve the problem."
Wang Wei looked at the others. "What do you think?"
Qiyuan nodded. "I don't see any issue." An agreement was immediately reached, and Dong Lifen began to execute it; she was granted access to all the resources she needed to get it done.
"What are you going to do now?" Wang Chong asked as Wang Wei stood up.
"Make her realize I'm the last person she should have messed with."
The meeting room was dead silent for a few seconds until Qiyuan said, "Don't go too far."
"I won't."
Wang Wei teleported above the sect and immediately summoned its Qi Luck Dragon, using it to protect the avatar's [Existence]. His fingers then released five lights as five rings manifested, all exuding a Saintly power that coursed through Wang Wei's soul and veins.
"In my name, Wang Wei — the Fate Dominator, the Creator of the Heavenly Era, the First Heavenly Emperor, the First Immeasurable Emperor, the Shepherd of Mortal Civilization, the Sage of the Mortal Dao Art, the Dream World Innovator, the Soul Ancestor, the Ender of the Seven Moon Era, the Hero of Supreme Unity Insurgency, and the Herald of the New Age."
These words spread to every corner of the Eternal Ascension World, alarming every faction, lineage, foreigner, and cultivator concerned about the world's state.
"I cast a curse on Ma Liqiu and the Ma Clan. From now on, all their men and women will be infertile, only able to reproduce through inbreeding, for generations after generation, until their bloodline is more filthy than the deepest hole of the abyss."
A terrifying red rune manifested between Heaven and Earth, then rushed into the Ma Clan Realm. Ma Liqiu activated her Saint Array to stop it, but it was useless; the curse descended into the clan, embedding itself into their bloodline and [Existence].
"Wang Wei!" she roared, shaking the realm, but no one paid her any attention.
"Damn," Wang Chong said. Clans or families need genetic diversity to survive. Although inbreeding can temporarily preserve the purity of a bloodline, after a few generations, many issues will arise, including people born with flawed mental states, deformed souls, and many more. With this curse, the Ma Clan will have no choice but to watch themselves slowly become fewer, weaker, and worse, mentally extreme.
"That curse is terrifying," Li Ming commented.
"He's using his achievements and contributions to the world to force Heaven and Earth to cast the curse. If Ma Liqiu wants to break it, her only option is to have even more achievements than Wang Wei," Qiyuan commented.
"Can't she ask a Saint to remove it?"
Qiyuan shook his head. "She could, but even one of Maitreya's caliber, with a Golden Body of Merit, would receive a terrible backlash for removing it. So, her only choice is to have someone as capable as Wang Wei, or hire a Tribunal Lord."
"Then, she's screwed?"
"I'm afraid so."
Wang Wei flew back to Transcending Fate Mountain.
"Is this what you mean by not going too far?"
"It is," Wang Wei replied while summoning Wang Qi and Red Mask.
"Wang Qi, go to the Refining Hall and have them create a luck-absorbing artifact for me; tell them the artifact should specialize in absorbing the Illusion Dao's luck and destiny."
"Yes, boss." Wang Qi didn't linger and immediately flew away to carry out the order.
"As for you, I have two missions," Wang Wei continued. "First, I need you to assassinate anyone who cultivates the Illusion Dao. Except for members of Buddhism and the Origin Seal Continent, no one can be spared. No one. Is that understood?"
"I understand."
"Good. As for your second mission?" Wang Wei didn't say it aloud; instead, he pointed at her forehead and transmitted the order directly to her soul, using the highest preventive measures at his disposal.
"Don't worry, Lord, it will be done."
"Alright, you're dismissed."
While Wang Wei was ordering his subordinate, Wang Chong was already communicating secretly with the others.
"Does that count as going too far?"
"I don't think so," Yan Hai replied. "He's still aware enough to spare Buddhism and his wife's lineage. Plus, we might put the Illusion Dao's luck to good use."
"She's right," Qiyuan said.
"...You guys are just afraid of saying something to him. Admit it: you can't control him anymore."
"Why don't you say something?" Li Ming asked.
"I don't want to die; plus, I want to preserve the little bit of face I still have left."
"Since you won't say anything, shut the fuck up," Yan Hai added.
"Fair."
