Chapter 1999: The Fate Tyrant
Chapter 1999: The Fate Tyrant
Holy Academy Realm, Emperor Enlightening Academy:
Xu Shi — mid-meeting — stopped as soon as she heard Wang Wei's voice. And once the curse ended, the first thing that popped into her mind was: "Something is wrong. Why is he acting so aggressive — so domineering?" Even if Ma Liqiu had truly enraged him, he shouldn't have treated her so publicly.
"Did something happen, or is he planning something?" she thought.
"Let's end things for now." Xu Shi's meeting with Wang Wei was set for two days later, but she decided to see him early to gauge the situation and maybe gather some information.
"Headmaster, are you going somewhere?"
"Yes, I'll push my meeting with the Dao Opening sect to today. Bai Han, you're in charge of things while I'm absent."
"No problem."
The elders didn't try to stop Xu Shi. With Wang Wei and the Dao Opening Sect's recent major moves, it might be a good idea to visit and check the situation. With Emperor Kong gone and Lin Fan absent, Xu Shi has been at the helm. With her terrifying strength, no one dares underestimate the academy; more importantly, Xu Shi didn't sit and wait for Kong's return. Instead, she took a more aggressive approach, immediately seizing the territory and destiny from the Grand Sect Alliance, specifically what the Glass Pen Sage left behind.
Xu Shi did not immediately leave. Instead, she checked on Emperor Nine Death's condition; he was on the verge of becoming a Primal. More importantly, she had brought resources that could drastically accelerate his strength and progress. After ensuring everything was fine, she finally felt secure enough to leave.
Source Flame Domain, Skill Dao Association:
Bi Longsheng stood on top of a beautiful mountain with an artificial lake, a gold-white pavilion, and two people behind. His gaze pierced the sky as he listened to Wang Wei's curse. "How much hatred does he have to cast such a curse?"
"It makes you wonder," a drunk scholar in a tattered yellow robe replied, sipping from a blue gourd every five seconds.
"But are you sure he's the Mad Emperor and not the Tyrant Fate?"
"Young Master, you know better than I do that everything is just speculation at this point."
"True," Bi Longsheng said, nodding. "Master Liu, what do you think?"
A quiet man dressed in all black stood to Bi Longsheng's left. Master Liu was eye-catching not for his beauty or unique aura, but for his hair; most of the front and top was shaved off, leaving a single braided strand at the back.
"The All Heaven Fate Calamity is approaching; the strings of fate envelop Primordial Chaos. The Mad Emperor—in his path to control his own fate—will do anything to reach detachment.
"The destiny of the Source Fate, the Tyrant Fate, the Free Fate, and the Hermit Fate are intertwined, and their entanglement shall open the gate of madness," Master Liu said. "This prophecy is hard to interpret because we don't know if one of the Four Fates will become the Mad Emperor, or if their confrontation will give birth to the Mad Emperor."
"I'm not asking you to regurgitate information I already know; I'm asking for your opinion."
Master Liu lowered his head. "Young master, you know my opinion. Grandma Ju's new —"
"The prophecy has been verified by countless Saints. So, unless she has someone of the highest caliber helping her, it's impossible for her prophecy to be wrong."
"You said it yourself: it's not impossible."
Bi Longsheng groaned softly; this man was a wonderful advisor, but he relied too much on his intuition. Good intuition isn't bad, but relying entirely on it is a recipe for disaster. From what Bi Longsheng knew, even a few Grand Dao Saints had checked the prophecy, and they hadn't discovered any problem.
"Let's assume there is nothing wrong with the prophecy: what's your analysis?"
Master Liu took a moment to organize his thoughts. "Before the second part of the prophecy, Wang Wei fit well with the Mad Emperor — at least, in terms of someone capable enough of launching the All-Haven Fate Calamity. But now, I think he might be the Tyrant Fate."
"Why not the Freedom Fate? I mean, it's his obsession."
Master Liu shook his head. "His version of freedom is a twisted form clad in hypocrisy and contradictions; I don't believe he's the true embodiment of freedom from a fate perspective."
"But why the tyrant?"
"Because people change."
Bi Longsheng turned to the Blessed Scholar. "Keep going."
"We know he's arrogant, but he usually controls himself."
"So?"
"Think of recent events that he's been a part of."
"You mean he's changed after experiencing the expedition?"
"If I could kill a Tribunal Lord, I don't think I'd be able to control my arrogance," the Blessed Scholar said.
"He didn't kill one, just led to its demise."
"Even better."
"Based on how he reacted to Ma Liqiu, it's obvious that he is slowly losing control of his arrogance," Master Liu said. "Which means —"
"He might be slowly settling into his role as a tyrant," Bi Longsheng finished.
"Yes, but as the drunkard said, everything is speculation. More than 4 people in the Chaos Universe cultivate Fate Dao. Before the right time, the prophecy could be any of them."
"No, Wang Wei is involved in one way or another," Bi Longsheng uttered with the utmost confidence. And he had his reason to. From what he knows, Wang Wei's future as a Grand Dao Saint is the most likely to come true, which means that if nothing unexpected happens, he will be part of the future in which the All Heaven Fate Calamity occurs.
Bi Longsheng turned to look at the sky. "What do you suggest we do?"
"Nothing."
"Nothing."
Master Liu looked sideways at the scholar before continuing. "The Infinite Divine Court's Invasion and the Expedition have cemented the Eternal Ascension World as the Destiny Center World. So, no matter what happens, the Mad Emperor or any of the other four will appear here at some point or another; this place might even be where their confrontation is destined to occur. We just need to wait."
"Wait, huh," Bi Longsheng muttered. The Primeval Body Mansion and the Bi Clan don't care much about the Transcendent Age, since its existence will only affect some of their resources. However, the All-Heaven Fate Calamity threatens their very existence — their survival.
"How is the search for the Eyeless Emperor?"
"Still no update," Master Liu replied.
"Is there really nothing we can do?" Dealing with the All Heaven Fate Calamity is the best way for Bi Longsheng to secure his status as the next Mansion Lord. Currently, his only clue is that the Source Fate was the Eyeless Emperor, since he held the Fate Grand Dao Source Position.
"If you can get a Fate Cultivator, we might find him," the Blessed Scholar said.
"What do you mean?"
"The Fate Grand Source Position Causality Tracking System— anyone who meets the requirement and wishes to challenge the owner will find him."
"That's right." Bi Longsheng suddenly remembered that the only way for someone with a position to stop a challenge is if they are dead and in Limbo. Otherwise, any challenger with the intention can find their target no matter what.
"Wait, I just thought of something. With Wang Wei's personality, there is no way he'll become a Saint without taking that position. If we can wait for when he takes action, we can not only find the Eyeless Emperor, but we can also observe these two and gather information."
The Blessed Scholar nodded. "That's not a bad plan."
"Indeed, but young master, you should prepare for other people to do the same."
Bi Longsheng squinted. Right now, he was the only one from the mansion who had descended into the Eternal Ascension World, but it wouldn't be long before his other competitors arrived. "Do you think we should contact Wang Wei?"
"In what capacity?" Master Liu asked.
"Maybe I can invite him to the mansion again."
"Su Dandan's presence already told us his answer," the drunkard said. "He can be associated with us for the safety of his sect, but he'll never join us himself."
"How about business? He loves doing that, right? Our mansion is full of opportunities; we can cooperate with the Dao Opening Sect."
Master Liu and the scholar looked at each other before the former finally said: "Young master, there is no point in rushing. In fact, rushing is the worst thing we can do."
"The issue of the All-Heaven Fate Calamity will not be solved for a while. In fact, there might not even be a resolution even after the Transcendent Age."
"...You're right. I'm a bit too eager for success."
"Right now, our focus should be on the Infinite Divine Court," the scholar continued. "The resolution of their invasion might have lasting effects on the entire Chaos Universe."
Bi Longsheng squinted. "That's true." While the Primordial Timeline had a few Grand Dao Saints, none had a faction or lineage on par with, or close to, the Primeval Body Mansion. However, if the Infinite Divine Court succeeds in its invasion, that will no longer be true. The Divine Court's foundation will be enough to challenge the mansion.
