Lackey's Seducing Survival Odyssey

Chapter 1890: If people like you are the ones God saves... then He isn't God!

Chapter 1890: If people like you are the ones God saves… then He isn’t God!

“Did you two hear that?” Lily asked, her voice lowering as if she had heard a cry coming from outside the house.

She glanced toward the door, then looked back at Lia and Tiny Fairy.

Grace had no interest in such mundane matters. She simply closed her eyes and waited calmly for Aether to return, completely detached from whatever was happening outside.

Lia merely shrugged. She wouldn’t give a shit about what was happening outside as long as her son was with her.

Instead, she worried something else… What if this random woman suddenly woke up and took her beloved son away?

One part of her prayed that this random woman would never wake up, while another part wanted her to open her eyes already, simply so her son could finally focus on himself instead of constantly worrying about her.

She was caught in such a ridiculous dilemma that even she found it irritating!

Lily sighed softly before carefully parting the door and peeking outside.

The moment she looked out, her expression stiffened. Numerous dead walkers stood around the unpaved road, cowering in fear, while a weak-looking man knelt in the middle of the road, trembling as tears streamed down his face.

The weak man desperately clung to the legs of the armed soldiers, his fingers trembling as he begged them with a pleading expression,

“Sir, please… please, sir… P-Please, take my life instead. Just… don’t…”

Lily’s eyes slowly turned lifeless as she lowered her head, as though she already understood exactly what was happening.

‘Another one… ah,’ she thought bitterly.

After all, Lucus had already filled her with enough information to understand why these people came here.

RICH VIPs only came here for one thing.

To buy the goods.

Yeah… to the RICH, these people were nothing more than mere goods, things that could be bought, sold, and discarded whenever they became inconvenient. She had heard plenty of stories about children around her age being treated like products instead of human beings.

It didn’t matter whether the child was a girl or a boy. They were sold all the same.

She had heard stories about hungry women and hungry men preying upon children, and there were barely any rules capable of stopping them.

And even when laws existed, what could they possibly do when placed in front of money and influence?

In front of wealth, laws could become nothing more than words written on paper!

After all… money spoke louder than mere people, right?

Lily clenched her fist, her nails pressing into her palm as anger slowly burned beneath her otherwise expressionless face. Yet she knew that getting angry would not help them.

The soldiers had weapons, and she would be dead before she could even reach the man, let alone save him.

‘It’s alright… This is… how the world is,’ she muttered inwardly, forcing herself to accept something she desperately didn’t want to accept.

Her fingers tightened around the doorknob as she continued staring outside. Every part of her wanted to do something, anything, but her rational mind kept reminding her of the truth. If she stepped outside, she would accomplish nothing except becoming another body lying on that road.

Suddenly she blinked and slowly turned around and looked at Lia, a faint hope appearing in her eyes as she asked, “Can yo—”

“I’m not interested,” Lia interrupted bluntly, shaking her head without even bothering to look outside.

Lily clenched her fist again. “B-But you have powers, right? With those magical powers, you could save them all. You could stop this right now.”

“And why would I do that?” Lia asked, finally giving Lily a small glance. Her expression held neither anger nor sympathy, only complete indifference.

Lily was taken aback by the question.

“Girl, let me be honest with you. You aren’t worth anything in my eyes. The only reason I’m even looking at you is because you matter to my son. Otherwise, I wouldn’t give a shit if you rotted out there with the rest of them,” Lia said in an utterly emotionless voice.

Lia, of course, did not give a shit about anyone else. Whatever was happening outside had nothing to do with her, and she saw no reason to involve herself in someone else’s suffering.

In her eyes, Lily wasn’t even worthy of her concern. The only thing that mattered to Lia was her son, and everything else in this world existed somewhere far beneath that single obsession.

Lily was utterly taken aback, as she hadn’t expected this level of coldness. She blinked several times before glancing at the tiny fairy, who remained completely silent without even sparing her a glance.

Lily lowered her head, her fingers slowly tightening at her sides. “Even though you all have powers, and yet…” Her voice trembled as she looked at them with disbelief.

“Shouldn’t the strong protect the weak? If you have the power to stop someone from suffering, then what is the point of having that power if you simply choose to watch?”

Neither Lia nor Grace said a word.

Lily bit her lips as she glared at them, her eyes filled with disappointment and anger.

“I cannot believe you all… You’re worse than those animals outside.”

With that, she turned around and walked out of the house, her expression furious.

Lia and Grace barely cared about what Lily had said.

Neither of them bothered to stop her.

Just then, they noticed a gentle glow appearing over Aether’s mother’s body. Her form softly flickered, becoming increasingly transparent as though she were slowly being pulled away from the world.

Lia’s eyes widened before a huge grin spread across her face. “Fuck yeah! He belongs to me!”

Grace gave her a deadpan look.

Lia’s face immediately turned awkward. “Haha… I-I mean… fuck no… my poor baby only has me now… sniff, sniff…” she said, pretending to cry as she rubbed at the corners of her eyes.

Grace simply rolled her eyes before glancing back at Aether.

Meanwhile, Lily stepped outside the house, clenching her fists as irritation and anger twisted across her face. She couldn’t understand why people like them had been given powers while those who desperately needed them had nothing.

Was this how the world worked?

“If I only had powers like…” Lily muttered as she clenched her fist.

“Argh!”

The weak man suddenly groaned when an armed soldier struck him with the back of his gun and shoved him away.

“Get away from me, asshole!”

“N-No… Please… Please… si…r… Please…” The weak man begged through his tears, desperately trying to reach his only child before the predators took her away.

“Haha… Look at him, pathetic as he squirms…” one of the armed men said as he crouched down, grabbed the man by the hair, and lifted his head.

“P-Please… save… my child…”

“We’ll throw you a few pieces of bread, so shut the fuck up,” the soldier said before punching him in the head.

The weak man flew backwards and slammed hard against the ground, only for another armed man to kick him in the stomach.

“You should be grateful that our Boss chose your daughter,” he said coldly, a wicked amusement lingering in his voice.

“Don’t cry, old man. If she satisfies our Boss, she might receive better treatment, and you might even get to eat three times a day.”

The men laughed wickedly among themselves.

The man’s face turned pale, his body trembling against the ground. His eyes had lost their light, as if something inside him had already died.

Lily watched this with her hand clenched tightly. She knew she should have left, just as she always did. Cover her eyes, turn around, and walk away as though this was simply another normal day in this world.

Yet every time she did, something inside her chest hurt again and again, as though she were slowly becoming someone she never wanted to be.

She knew how ugly this world was.

Yet, for some reason, Lia’s silence kept echoing inside her mind.

If people with powers refused to protect the weak, then who would?

Lily clenched her fist even tighter, her fingernails digging into her palm.

‘I-I am emotionally unstable… This isn’t good… Think rationally, Lily. What can you do? There are so many people, and it’s impossible…’ she thought, her expression tightening as she desperately tried to convince herself to leave.

“Arrhhhh!”

The man’s agonised cry echoed through the street, making Lily’s heart tremble.

“M-My child… Please… save her, God—Arghhh!”

“God? Don’t make me laugh. Gods don’t save everyone. God only saves the ones who are worth saving… You weren’t one of them. You know that, right, Dead Walker? If you were, you wouldn’t be crawling through the dirt begging for mercy…. ahaha…” the armed man said with a cruel laugh as he kicked him again and again, each blow forcing another broken groan from the weak man.

The weak man continued begging through his tears, desperately reaching toward the direction where his child had been taken.

Then, in the next instant, Lily’s legs moved before she could even think.

“Stop!”

Lily stepped between them, gripping a knife tightly in her trembling hand. Her breathing became shallow as she stood there, her small body positioned between the helpless man and the armed soldiers.

Her heart hammered violently against her chest.

She hadn’t expected this.

She hadn’t planned to come outside, and she certainly hadn’t intended to reveal herself. Her mind was screaming at her to turn around and run, yet her body had already made the decision for her.

The armed men flinched for a second before their eyes widened as they recognised the girl standing before them.

“Oi, is that her?”

“I think so.”

Both men exchanged a serious glance before nodding. If they took her to the Boss, they could become the next captains.

But when their eyes fell upon her trembling hand, their seriousness quickly disappeared, replaced by mocking amusement.

Her hand was shaking so badly that she looked like someone who had never killed anyone before.

“Oh? Are you gonna kill us? I’m so scared. Haha…” one of the armed men chuckled, deliberately drawing out his words to provoke her.

Before Lily could react, he kicked the weak man’s head as though he were nothing more than a piece of discarded filth.

“W-What?” Lily was taken aback.

In that brief moment of hesitation, another armed man knocked the knife from her hand.

The weapon clattered against the dirt.

“Argh!”

She suddenly groaned as the armed man grabbed her hair tightly and lifted her from the ground as though she weighed nothing.

“Girl, quietly come with us. Don’t make this harder than it needs to be.”

“L-Let me go, you perverted assholes!” Lily shouted, fear and anger mixing together as she suddenly drove her knee upward with everything she had.

Her knee struck his chin with a sharp impact.

“Argh!”

The armed man bit down hard on his tongue and released her immediately. Blood trickled from the corner of his mouth as he staggered backwards, his weapon slipping from his hand.

Lily didn’t waste a second.

She lunged forward, grabbed the fallen weapon, and raised it toward the armed men. Her expression was furious, but her trembling hands betrayed how frightened she truly was.

The armed men froze for a moment.

Then they noticed her shaking fingers struggling to keep the weapon aimed at them, and their fear once again turned into mocking amusement.

“What? Are you gonna kill us? Huh? I’m so scared.~” one of them sneered, deliberately stepping closer as though daring her to pull the trigger.

Lily gritted her teeth.

“If people like you are the ones God saves… then He isn’t God!”

The two men chuckled.

One of them slowly licked his lips as his gaze travelled over her with disturbing amusement.

“You look cute… I wonder if I’ll get to taste you after our Boss is finished.”

“Haha… She really does have such a figure. I understand why the Boss wanted her.”

Lily’s heart skipped a beat.

For one terrible second, the world seemed to become strangely quiet. An itching pain spread across her shoulder, and the men’s faces began to blur together, overlapping with the face of the person she hated most in the world.

Jonathan…

Her breath caught in her throat.

Her legs began trembling beneath her, and the weapon suddenly felt impossibly heavy in her hands.

The light in her eyes faded—

Ssshh~

A gentle hand caught hers.

Lily flinched violently and looked beside her, and the moment she saw him, the lifelessness in her eyes slowly faded, replaced by a warmth she thought she had lost.

“Stand brave… You are stronger than you know.”

His voice was gentle and steady, like a vinyl record playing softly in a quiet room, giving her something to hold onto when everything else inside her was falling apart.

[+4000 AP]

Aether gently tightened his hand around hers.

But then… his body flickered… Violently!
