Chapter 282 – Don’t Tie Your Hair

Love’s eyes widened at Klaus’s words. Her heart shuddered, and she instinctively tried to step back, putting distance between them.

But Klaus gave her no such chance. He closed the distance between them as swiftly as wind filling an empty space, grabbed her body, twisted it, and slammed it against the wall beside them.

Love gasped, the air knocked from her lungs, teeth grinding together as she glared at him with intense anger, yet underneath, something unnamed lay buried deep.

"What are you doing?" She hissed, not liking that she’d lost the momentum of this conversation so easily.

"Do you accept, or not?" Klaus asked directly, smiling provocatively, "Or are you actually afraid of losing?"

"I won’t lose to you."

"Then accept."

"What you’re asking is too much." Love shot back, eyes narrowing, "You want me to break up with Emrys? In front of everyone? Have you lost your damn mind?"

"Because I’m the one who’s lost it?" Klaus laughed humorlessly, "You’re the one who said you want me, Klaus, as your slave. I’m not complaining, and you are?"

"It’s not—!"

"I told you, Love, I hate talking to stupid bitches. And you get stupider every time I see you." Klaus said, his tone weary, as if talking to her was too much effort, "You either accept, or I’ll throw you out of my room. And I won’t be gentle about it."

Love didn’t answer right away. She looked deep into Klaus’s black eyes, his face so close she could hear his heartbeat and feel his breath as though it were her own.

His body pressed against her, soft and warm, as if he’d never done a hard day’s work in his life.

His left hand pressed flat against the wall by her right, elbow visible, veins thick beneath the skin, while his right hand rested at her throat, tightening and loosening as though testing exactly how much pressure it would take to crush it.

Never in her life had she found herself in a position like this. She was always the one in control. And with Emrys, he’d always been far too naive and foolish to do anything like it.

This was the first time anyone had treated her this way. And the worst part was, she didn’t even mind...not when it was Klaus.

Because he’d done worse to her before.

He’d nearly killed her during the Entrance Test. He’d punched her in the face so many times she’d lost count, her face left a bloody mess every time.

He’d even blackmailed her, holding a video over her head that could have ended her modeling career for good.

Of course, she’d paid him back, with interest. But their relationship had reached such a point that, in that moment, Love almost expected him to strangle her.

And that expectation didn’t make her try to break free.

"I don’t have all day to waste on you." Klaus said sharply, pulling her out of her spiraling thoughts.

She smiled coldly at him, something nefarious and corrupted dancing behind her mesmerizing, heart-shaped pink eyes.

"You’re playing with fire, Klaus." Love said, "Even if you somehow manage to win, you’ll earn Emrys’s anger. You’re not Cassius. He’ll humiliate you."

"Why would I earn his anger?" Klaus tilted his head, sneering, "You’re the one breaking up with him. And of course, you’ll swear an Oath to actually do it. I may not be the sharpest tool in the box, but even I know better than to trust the word of a whore."

"You—!"

"And the Oath will include never telling Emrys, in any way, that this was a bet between you and me."

He grinned.

"This stays between you and me, Love. Only you and me."

"How romantic." She drawled.

"Spare me the sarcasm."

"I win, you become my slave." Love said, "You win, I break up with Emrys in front of everyone."

"That took you longer to grasp than a five-year-old would need."

"A five-year-old wouldn’t be here, strangled by a man who wants her so badly he’s doing whatever it takes to make her his." Love smiled, then reached up toward his hair, this time managing to pull the tie holding Klaus’s hair into a ponytail before he could stop her.

Instantly, his hair fell over his face, though his intense black eyes still pierced through the forest-green strands.

Love made an involuntary surprised expression before quickly composing herself. She smiled and pressed her right palm against Klaus’s chest, activating a rune on his clothes.

Instantly, the weight of Klaus’s clothing tripled, forcing him to his knees with a resounding crack.

He groaned, veins bulging across his forehead.

He now knelt before Love, who looked down at him, her smile widening with every passing second.

She bent down, leaning in close, grabbed his chin, and tilted it upward. Their eyes met.

Love, with venomous gentleness, brushed his long green hair away from his eyes, then whispered to the straining, huffing Klaus:

"I’m going to enjoy making you my slave, Klaus."

For a moment, her lips brushed against his cheek.

Love let his head drop, then turned and walked toward the door, her steps still soundless.

"Prepare yourself, Love." Klaus growled behind her, his voice husky, "I might just kill you once and for all, that day. I’d be doing the world a favor."

"That’s a good idea." Love snickered, "But you’ll need to actually manage it first, my soon-to-be slave."

She reached the door, then glanced back at him.

Her lips curved,

"And you should wear your hair like this more often." She giggled, opening the door and stepping out, her voice trailing back, "You’d have better luck that way."

Click—!

The door closed. The room fell eerily silent, broken only by Klaus’s heavy breathing.

Soon enough, though, the runes on his clothes wore off, and he let out a sigh of relief, falling onto his back.

Klaus lay there in silence for a while, catching his breath, before clicking his tongue,

"That fucking bitch. Say what you want about her, but her power’s maddeningly annoying."

"Well, you’ll need to be fast." Windy said, perched on his nose, her glowing green eyes fixed on him, "Faster than anything she can keep up with, if you want to win."

"How far am I from the Spirit State?"

"Not very far. You’ve progressed faster than I ever expected." Windy smiled, thoroughly pleased, "You’re more talented than your father."

"Tell me something I didn’t already know." Klaus muttered, suppressing a pleased smile. But the thought of Love wiped it away instantly.

He hissed, "But I’m not fast enough to get there before Monday, am I?"

"You’ll need more time, yes. Around 5 to 6 more days."

Klaus narrowed his eyes. With Love’s wide range of abilities, thanks to her Aspect of Versatility, he’d need more than just his Skills.

"So it’s time for the hard training." He said, slowly rising, his joints cracking as he did.

Once up, Klaus stripped off his clothes, left in only his boxers. His body was toned, muscles built for speed. Lean and supple, with just the right amount of muscle.

His body fat sat lower than most, making his veins more visible, snaking across his skin.

There was also a tattoo covering his whole back.

A tattoo of a stunningly beautiful woman with green hair and green eyes, ears elongated like an elf’s, eyes shining with wisdom even through the ink.

She wore a green dress that seemed to flutter, as though wind constantly stirred around her, a crown resting atop her head.

The woman bore an eerie resemblance to Windy.

"I’ll progress faster if I have no choice but to become the wind itself, just to survive."

"You mean?" Windy asked, concerned.

"Yes." Klaus nodded, running a hand through his hair and pulling it back, "I want you to take all the air out of this room. Every bit of it."

"You won’t be able to breathe, Klaus."

"I’ll find a way." He replied, then paused briefly, wondering where his black tie had gone.

He shook his head, brushing the thought aside, and simply condensed wind to tie his hair into a ponytail instead.

Windy watched and sighed in disappointment.

Love had been right, after all. Klaus was far more handsome with his hair down. But he never liked wearing it that way.

Even his long hair existed only because his mother had wanted him to resemble her more. Strange, but Klaus didn’t mind.

"Shall we?" He prompted, catching her attention.

"Of course, my lovely Klaus." Windy said affectionately before...

CLAP—!

...all the air in the room vanished.

Klaus’s eyes bulged as he dropped to the ground again, but this time his mind stayed crystal clear, his next goal driving him forward.

’I will not lose.’

...

At the same time, in her own room, Love stood in her bathroom, completely naked.

She studied her reflection, her pink hair let completely loose, falling to her shoulders. She smiled, took the black tie in her hand, and tied her hair into a ponytail.

"Beautiful." She praised herself.

And it was, indeed, the truth.

Love was undeniably one of the most beautiful of the Golden Generation.

Next, she sat cross-legged on the floor, where a runic pen and black ink, glowing with essence, waited for her.

She picked up the pen, dipped it into the ink, and began inscribing runes across her body. It was an act that would kill or cripple anyone else who dared attempt it.

But for Love...

"Let’s start with Wind Resistance Runes."

...this was only her First Skill: Flesh of Runes.
