Last Born Of The Desdemona

Chapter 331: Mother Eve

Chapter 331 – Mother Eve

Once inside his room, Cassius didn’t wait a single second more. He immediately summoned the Origin Store and used the Fated Ticket he had obtained as a reward from his last Cursed Quest at the same time.

Combining his previous reserve of OP and his recent earnings, Cassius only had 21,000 OP.

It was truly not much, and he doubted there would be anything he liked.

Cassius would have seriously avoided today’s Origin Store if he didn’t have a goddess to meet tomorrow and a coming mission for his second Blessing.

’I don’t even have a discount ticket.’ He thought, sitting carefully on the floor of his room. ’Sigh, just give me useful but not expensive stuff, please.’

Secretly, inside his heart, he hoped that he would obtain another page of the True Tales of the Fool once again.

But Cassius knew it was unlikely. And he was proven right when the three items for the day were presented.

[Here are today’s Origin Store Items!]

[Albert’s Boom Boom Boom I Explode Your Balls (x3) (Tier 4): These are three bombs created by Albert Desdemona in his youth, when he wanted to explode a whole city to test the efficiency of his creations.

He slaughtered many innocents during the process and caused many others to migrate elsewhere after losing their homes, but at least, he killed more than half of a hidden organization called Hunters of Flames.

We like to think he did it in good faith, though we know that’s actually not true.

He is your Ancestor, so we will give you a discount, Little Cursed Demon. (5,000 OP)]

[Persephone’s Underwear (Special Item): She loves this underwear so abnormally much. She lost it (more precisely, her husband’s brothers stole it to fantasize about sleeping with their brother’s wife) and would give anything to the one who found it for her.

We can give you the history of why a simple piece of underwear is so important, but we don’t want to spoil you. Just know one name: Adonis. Ring any bell?

Still, if her brother found out it’s in your hands, you would never see the light of day again. As for who that brother is...

...Guess?

We are in a good mood. We will lower the price. (6,000 OP)]

[Mother Demoness of Pestilence’s Hidden Journal (Fated Item):

You are Fated with the Mother Demoness of Pestilence. You should have known it, given all the rewards you have obtained based on Her.

As for how exactly you two are Fated, we are eager to know too.

Buying this Journal, written by Her throughout her entire lifetime, would grant you access to knowledge and conversations you have no business knowing.

This item will never appear again. We are in a good mood, so another bloody discount for our favorite Villain! (9,000 OP)]

[What caught your fancy, and most importantly, what can your pocket afford?]

Cassius read all three items exactly three times. He laughed pleasantly at the first one, happy to see his favorite Ancestor being mentioned.

He chuckled lightly at the second, though the chuckle was laced with nervousness, seeing that a god would kill him if He ever found out about the underwear being in his possession.

At the third, there was no laugh or even a chuckle. This was the third time he had obtained something belonging to the Mother Demoness of Pestilence.

At this point, even Cassius knew there was something wrong with all of this.

"Queen, you once said that Mother Pestilence is among the top gods."

[Aye.]

"How top exactly are we talking about?"

[Gods are divided by Tiers, my beloved.] Ananke said. [We have Tier 0, Tier 1, Tier 2, and finally Tier 3.]

"Oh?" Cassius arched an eyebrow, curious. "The difference between them?"

[There are only three Tier 0 gods. They are called the Holders. They are born with overwhelming powers beyond anything between heaven and earth. No one can match their powers except among themselves. And the birth of each Holder brought with them a new age.]

"You mean..." Cassius exclaimed. "That the Age of the First Revelation...?"

[Only happened because the First Holder was born.] Ananke nodded, confirming his thoughts. [Same with the Second Holder, bringing the Age of the Second Revelation. And finally, the Third Holder, bringing the Age of the Third Revelation, the very age we are in.]

Cassius listened attentively. This was the first time he was hearing anything about the gods.

[Now, Cassius, there are gods born as gods, and those who became gods. But we won’t talk about the latter case, considering only one or two managed to achieve that level by ranking up during all these untold years.] She said. [Just know that the difference in strength between a First Generation god and a Second Generation god is vast in terms of quality and experience. Same with the Second and Third Generations.]

"Mother Demoness is?"

[A Second Generation god,] Ananke replied, [which makes Her stronger than all the gods inside this Continent, who are only Third Generation, born after the Third Holder.]

"What about you? Third Generation too?"

Ananke smiled mysteriously. [I am an exception.]

"Meaning?"

[My origin is more complicated. You will know in time.]

"Like always." Cassius rolled his eyes, focusing back on the Store. "Due to the Store’s unexpected generosity, I can buy all of them. I am a bit skeptical about getting the Journal of Mother Pestilence, but hey...big risk, high reward."

[Isn’t that what you said when taking Adonis’s eyes?]

"I didn’t say it..."

[But you insinuated it.]

"I still technically didn’t say it." Cassius defended himself, then, without much hesitation, bought all three items.

He was sure that all of these would become useful to him at some point.

Just like always, the Origin Store accepted his purchases and delivered the three items to him through its golden realm.

Cassius stored the explosive balls, the underwear, which was quite beautiful, its divine scent making him dizzy, and kept only the Journal of Mother Pestilence with him.

Ananke created a small barrier around him, trying to conceal the divine presence of the Journal.

The Journal itself was of normal size, thick with many pages, black, and looked like the cover itself was rotting away.

Cassius prayed to his goddess nervously before opening the first page. There weren’t many words, and he began to read:

<Six days after my glorious Birth!

I am pretty bored. I am so strong I can control a whole continent and kill all the gods and living things inside.

How boring.

I just created a new ailment and killed a whole tribe in the south. Pitiful.

I have been attending divine gatherings lately, where many gods of my generation and even some of the First Generation (these little bastards are so condescending) get together and just talk.

They called it, uselessly gloriously, the Meeting at the Summum.

What a bunch of clowns.

I regret going there. However, I managed to find an interesting way to cure my painful boredom.

And it was to reincarnate myself as a human being and experience the life of a human from mortal to divine.

The other gods are afraid. I am not.

So I will do it. I will name my human self Mother.

Simply Mother. Maybe I will be the true Mother of Humanity.

What was the name the First Holder arrogantly called that girl in his Book?

Eve?

">I will call myself Mother Eve, then.>

Cassius read the first page with an intrigued expression, taking in the information. He tried to flip to the next page. However, he couldn’t manage it.

And information about why he couldn’t entered his mind, coming from the Journal itself.

He rolled his eyes. "I knew it couldn’t be this easy."

The only way to read the next page, and, he guessed, all the following ones in the Journal, was to go through a test.

The Journal would give him a disease, and he needed to survive it without dying and even become immune to it.

This Journal looked like it was made for him.

"But I have a meeting tomorrow. Let’s not take any risks." He said, before storing the Journal. "Still, Mother Pestilence seems like a...rather good goddess, right? I mean, if we ignore her little genocide. Nothing too bad, my ancestor did the same."

[It was only six days after she was born. We are all innocent and happy and good when we are new.]

"Fair enough." Cassius said, then leaned his body against his bed, looking blankly in front of him.

Now that the meeting was so close, he was stressing like never before. He truly had to succeed, or things would become even more complicated.

Shaking his head, he took his phone and sent a text to Meadow, asking how she was and how her writing had been going lately. He also shared his desire to write short stories and asked her to be his beta reader.

Next, he sent a message to Klaus, who was in the Health Center, telling him he would visit him tomorrow and not to act rudely toward the staff.

Afterward, he sent a text to all his siblings, from Morgan and Dorian to the Twins, and asked them all how they were doing and if everything was good.

He especially asked the Twins where they were, because he had never found them in the Academy.

Then he sent a message to the group with Bishop and Cassandra, asking a silly question: When are you two going to get together?

They answered immediately, with Bishop calling him "My Good Brother!!!!!" while Cassandra, who was at the graveyard at that instant, told him that she was digging a grave for him.

Digging graves and Cassandra were truly a long love story.

Cassius was almost touched to death by how much she loved it.

He laughed, his mood lifting considerably, before finally sending his nth message to his wife, hoping for an answer he knew he wouldn’t get.

When all was done, he looked at the two blood puppets his mother had given him, telling him that as long as these puppets were unharmed, then that meant they were too.

The blood puppets were intact.

’...They are safe.’ He thought with a smile.

Next, Cassius stood up from the ground and sat at his desk. He turned on the lamp, making golden light spill in front of him, then placed his notebook in front of him, along with a golden pen.

He closed his eyes for a moment, taking a deep breath, before opening them slowly and beginning to write, his Goddess watching him with fondness:
