Chapter 399 – Fucking Bitch
Eyeless didn’t even know what was going on. Not even Isolde understood exactly what she had done.
It was the first time she was using her Blessing, and the sensation was unlike anything she had ever felt.
It felt like her body was being decomposed and then recomposed in order to enter the realm she wanted to reach.
But it was not easy to enter the Gate of a god without the permission of that god itself. Yet Isolde could bypass that permission thanks to her Blessing.
However, the very fact that she was bringing another person with her into that realm meant that she needed to make sure that person also entered without permission.
That was when Isolde understood the very first consequence of her Blessing: when she brought someone into another realm, she would need to bear the existence of that someone, as she was the Guide herself.
And Eyeless was a Fourth Rank being. Her existence was more complete than Isolde’s. So when the two passed through the barrier of the Gate of Death and landed directly inside the Kingdom of Death, in one of its cities... Isolde’s body was already breaking apart from the inside out, blood beginning to pour from every one of her orifices.
COUGH! COUGH!
"Argh!!" Isolde coughed up blood, her body collapsing onto the strange black cobblestones.
She looked around and saw many kinds of beings and creatures taking their distance from her, looking at her with fascination and horror.
All of them had a number on their foreheads. A number Isolde didn’t know the meaning of and, honestly, couldn’t care less about.
She was dying. Once again.
Bearing the existence of Eyeless while entering this realm was outrageous, and it was taking a heavy toll on her. She could vividly feel her own existence shrinking, dying beneath the weight of Eyeless’s existence.
Her eyes were crying blood as she snapped her head around and saw Eyeless just a couple of steps away from her, on the ground, her Phantasm’s Transformation entirely gone.
In fact, Eyeless looked like any random person with great physical strength at that instant.
That was when another consequence, or rather a Rule, of her Blessing came to Isolde.
Whenever she entered another Realm as a Traveler, even though there were rules she could bypass, there were some that were impossible to bypass.
And the most basic rule of the Kingdom of Death was that any Skill needed Death Essence to work.
Eyeless didn’t have Death Essence.
So, at that instant, she couldn’t use any of her abilities. The only thing she could make use of was her own physical strength.
But even that was difficult.
Her head was ringing, and she felt as though she were upside down. Her body was struggling and revolting against her, screaming at her to get out of this place as soon as possible.
No living beings were allowed inside the Kingdom of Death.
However, Eyeless didn’t know how to go back, as she wasn’t the one who had brought herself into that dreadful, death-filled place.
Her empty sockets were wide with fear and dread, her body shivering.
"They are not dead! Look, they are not dead! How are they here? Where are the Guardians?" one of the dead screamed.
"This is my first time witnessing this! And I have been here for hundreds of years!"
"Vorn! Vorn! Is this the end of our peaceful life of death?! Vorn!"
The people around them, or rather the dead, were alarmed. Seeing living beings after spending so long inside this world of death was like seeing an old man crawl back inside his mother’s womb.
It was awfully wrong.
This event didn’t escape Vorn’s notice, however.
Faceless was now gone, and he had been in the process of thinking about what had just happened when he felt the intrusion into his Gate.
No one could imagine his surprise when he turned his hooded gaze toward the disturbance and saw Isolde and Eyeless falling into the middle of Drakan City, surrounded by his servants.
Both of them were mortals he knew extremely well.
One was the wife of Cassius Desdemona, but also the Last Chance of that Murderous Woman to reach the level she wished to reach with the person she wished to reach it with.
The other was a devout believer of the Crimson Dagger, the very Sect he had indirectly created. Which meant that he was the one who had chosen Eyeless because of her abilities and personality.
But...
"Fighting?" Vorn whispered, taken aback. "They are fighting? No, the more important question is, how did they enter without permission?"
The answer came extremely fast as he looked at Isolde, feeling a strange aura emanating from her. An aura that made him feel as though she could leave without him even being able to stop her unless he acted seriously.
Vorn’s eyes widened beneath his hood.
"What did that woman do in this timeline? What did she do to gain power, and what kind of power is this?"
How come everyone was doing all kinds of things in this timeline?
Was it because it was the 333rd one?
Was it because... this was the last one?
The last opportunity to win this endless battle?
Vorn knew that this was probably the latter. And considering how much that woman had lost in the past, it was no wonder she would manipulate every probability she could to become stronger and create better circumstances for herself.
He gritted his teeth.
"This is getting messed up. The need for the dead God’s body continues to increase day by day."
He lifted his hooded head, looking at the endless dark sky of his Gate.
"I need to destroy my bloodline. And I need to do it as soon as possible." His face turned deathly cold. "I need to kill one of my own."
That realization pained him greatly, but it had to be done. It was for the greater good. It was for the chance to survive whatever was coming their way.
Thus,
A Hood must die.
At that chilling thought, Vorn’s divine mind phased out of existence as he probed toward his second hidden weapon.
Katherine. Or rather, Persephone.
He smiled at her progress. But that smile didn’t last, as his Kingdom of Death suddenly became alarmed.
The two living beings were fighting.
Vorn watched them, sighing. He couldn’t go against that Murderous Woman. That woman was very close to Desdemona.
He also couldn’t kill his own subordinate.
So he watched, doing nothing, ordering the Guardians of Death not to intervene.
"Let’s see who will die, and whose Soul I will possess."
Meanwhile, Isolde was thinking of none of that. Her body was breaking apart, and she knew that she didn’t have much time before she actually died.
In a matter of days, Isolde had come close to death so many times, and had even actually died once, that she was getting tired of it.
She crawled toward Eyeless and reached her. She then mounted her, staring down at her agonized face.
Eyeless looked at her, croaking, "W-What did you do?! What did you do?! How do you—!"
CRACK!
Isolde punched her straight in the face, her eyes regaining their purple color, but this time so vivid that it was almost blinding.
Vivid, and merciless.
After the first punch, Isolde didn’t stop. She continued to pound Eyeless with all the strength she could muster, over and over again.
Eyeless, for her part, was completely paralyzed by the realm she was in, a realm she was never supposed to enter, while her abilities were completely unusable.
She felt helpless in a way she couldn’t remember ever feeling before. She tried to counterattack, but it was useless. Her body was begging her to go back, refusing to do anything except fight against the very realm surrounding her.
But Isolde could move. She was a Traveler.
The only thing killing her was the weight of Eyeless’s existence, along with her own lack of proficiency in bringing another person with her.
And it was as if Eyeless had managed to understand that aspect of her Blessing, because soon, she began to burn her very life to increase the weight of her own existence.
Her sockets burned with madness.
"You will not survive this, Olympias! You will not!" she cried out, only for Isolde to crush her throat beneath three punches.
Yet her mad actions worked, as Isolde’s internal organs began collapsing, a sea of blood gushing out of her.
Her vision swam, and her head felt as though the world were turning in every direction at once.
But Isolde was used to pain now.
Pain alone couldn’t stop her.
And she didn’t stop.
She took the Cristo Daggers out of her storage ring and, with chilling intent, under the horrified gazes of the onlookers, began ripping open Eyeless’s chest with all the strength she could muster.
"ARGHHHHHHH!!!"
Not yet.
The chest was not fully open.
The body of a Fourth Rank was not that easy to tear apart.
Isolde continued ripping through it, and continued until the chest finally split open. Her hands were shaking and covered in Eyeless’s blood.
Her vision was dark, barely able to see anything. Otherwise, she might have marveled at the complex interior of Eyeless’s body.
Eyeless was twitching on the ground, still not dead.
The onlookers were crying out, screaming at the horror.
Then Isolde did something monstrous.
She plunged her hand into Eyeless’s open chest, grasped the Fourth Rank’s heart, and ripped it out with all the strength remaining inside her.
Eyeless let out a dying scream, blood spraying through the air.
The heart was still beating in Isolde’s hand.
At that point, she could no longer bear the burden of the Blessing.
Five more seconds, and she would definitely die.
So Isolde rapidly deactivated her Blessing, causing both herself and Eyeless to disappear from the Kingdom of Death.
But what they left behind would never disappear.
The two appeared back inside the blood-filled, putrid air of the Damned Village.
Finally, they were able to use their Essence and Skills properly again.
But before Eyeless even got that opportunity, Isolde grasped her dagger, enhanced it with her remaining Essence, and slashed through Eyeless’s neck, already crushed from her earlier beating.
Her head rolled away from her body, the empty sockets a nightmarish sight as they gazed emptily at nothing.
Eyeless’s body was still twitching, and her heart was still beating even after spending several seconds outside her chest.
Not for long, though.
Soon, everything quieted down.
And Isolde sat atop the headless body, her own body shaking with agony, blood covering her face, her eyes barely able to see anything.
However, even in that state, breathing so heavily that every breath echoed through that death-filled place, Isolde managed to utter two words, her voice sounding like that of a monster.
"Fucking... bitch."
Isolde Amaris had killed a Fourth Rank being.
