Chapter 444 – I Am a Hood, of Course I Am Sick in the Head
Sea looked at Seraphim neutrally before his expression slowly shifted, growing as firm as a mountain.
He reached out and pushed her away from him, without much gentleness. "I don’t know what you’ve come to think about last night, but it means nothing at all."
"Oh?" Seraphim smirked. "That’s not something you’re supposed to say to the woman you just spent the night with."
"You are not just any woman, Lady Seraphim," Sea said. "And although I don’t know you that well, I have heard enough to form an opinion of you."
"Humor me, then, sweetheart. Tell me that very opinion."
"I would rather not," he said, pushing her even farther away, his heart knocking against his chest. "And please, and I am being polite right now, I need you to leave. I don’t want any kind of trouble with a princess of the kingdom."
"No one likes a scandal, I suppose."
"Then go."
"But what if I don’t want to?" Seraphim replied, more amused than irritated. In fact, she was not irritated at all.
Now that she had regained, and even surpassed, her past beauty, Seraphim had received a boost of confidence she never thought she needed.
The world had suddenly become brighter, filled with colors she had never imagined possible in the past.
And even more, the world had now become like a wild expanse of jungle filled with predators and prey.
For years, Seraphim had accepted living in the shadows, hidden like a wounded beast, bearing the shame and anger of having her face ripped apart by her own brother.
And for years, she had mourned the beauty she once had, sometimes barely stopping herself from tearing at her own face.
She had only managed to find comfort by looking at pictures of her nephew, a face so similar to her own. But it seemed she had underestimated him.
She didn’t know where he had gotten that potion, but thanks to it, Seraphim had been born anew.
And that rebirth came with a hunger that made her feel she could swallow the whole world and still not be satisfied.
Seraphim Hood wanted everything she could lay her hands on. And the man in front of her just so happened to fall into her lap.
She would be damned if she let go of the son of Willow Wealth.
’But I must be careful,’ Seraphim thought, frowning internally. ’Sea is Meadow’s brother, and Meadow is a close friend of my Cassius. I can’t let my greed overwhelm me again. I have hurt Sefira, my twin, in the past. I can’t disappoint Cassius this time. Anyone but him.’
"Are you listening to me?" Sea said, a bit louder, snapping Seraphim out of her reverie.
"Oh. Yes?"
"I said leave," he hissed, his patience wearing thin. "Don’t make me use force."
"Force? Against me?" she taunted. "You might have many artifacts, dear Sea, but you need more than that to wound me, let alone beat me." She arched an eyebrow. "Or maybe, despite all the things you have heard about me, you don’t know my Aspect."
Sea fell silent, glaring at her.
She simply shrugged. "And besides, there is no need to go that far. I just want you to promise me that we will see each other again."
"Why do you want to see me? You can have any man you want, Seraphim." He was calling her by name now. "And you were right earlier. I have a woman in my life, a woman I love. This night was nothing but a mistake."
"Sometimes a mistake is all you need to find what you truly need."
"I am not in the mood to be your plaything, Seraphim."
Sea stood up from the bed, his lower body clad in baggy white trousers. He sighed, walking towards a large counter in his expensive room, behind which was a small bar stocked with drinks.
Seraphim looked at him, at his wide back packed with muscle, and his locks tied high into two knots.
He reached the bar, and there the sun reached through the window, falling upon his black skin like a blanket, illuminating it as if it were smeared in gold.
Sera chuckled.
Now that she thought about it, the Wealth Family were quite the handsome bunch.
So handsome that she was curious about who their father was. Just who had managed to win the heart of a woman like Willow Wealth?
Seraphim knew Willow was not from the kingdom, maybe not even from this continent. That made her wonder why she had chosen Seraphim’s own family’s kingdom to settle in.
’An intriguing family with unusual amounts of wealth. What would I gain by staying beside one of that family’s heirs? What would I see, witness, and experience?’
Oh, now Seraphim was getting interested.
She wanted new challenges.
Handling a bunch of fools who wished to destroy her family was getting boring.
’Should I kill them all and ruin that poor bastard’s plan?’
At that thought, Seraphim shook her head. This was not the time to think about that.
Whirling her attention back to Sea, she saw him sitting on a chair in front of the bar, drinking water.
She moved, wearing only her white underwear, her breasts bare.
Placing her feet on the cold floor, she marched towards the man like a lioness towards her prey.
"I am not interested in being your woman, or in you being my man," she said. "I am searching for something much simpler."
"Let me guess," he said dryly. "You want us to be some kind of sex friends?"
"Is that too much to ask?"
"Why would I need that when I already have a woman, and am about to marry her? You don’t make sense, Seraphim. But now that I think about it, you never did make sense."
"I am a Hood." Seraphim reached the bar, climbed onto it, and sat atop it, right beside Sea’s glass of water. "You will never find a Hood who makes sense in this world."
"I don’t doubt your words."
"So let’s stop wasting time. Answer me," she said. "You already know I won’t let you go that easily, don’t you? I can be quite persistent. And did you just say marry? How interesting. I have always wanted to do it with a married man."
Sea looked at her, his nose wrinkling. "You are sick in the head."
Seraphim’s smile broadened. "You have no choice but to be sick in the head to survive in my family."
"But I don’t—!"
BAAM!
"Sea Wealth!!"
Both Sea and Seraphim stopped whatever they were doing at that precise moment and snapped their attention to the door of the room.
And there, Sea’s heart dropped as he saw Theophane standing in the doorway, beautiful and angelic, her white eyes widening by the second as she took in the sight of her soon-to-be husband and another woman, both half-naked.
Seraphim arched an eyebrow, momentarily confused, before a light of understanding flashed behind her blood-red eyes, making her heart halt in surprise.
But that was only for a moment.
Because she immediately regained her calm, staring at Theophane, remembering how wary her Cassius was of her. She could even say he didn’t quite like her.
A dark thought immediately began to take root inside her rotten and broken mind.
"What... is this?" Theophane muttered, still stunned. In her left hand was the key to the room, a key Sea had given her himself out of foolish love.
And he cursed himself profoundly at that moment.
"Sea," Theophane spoke again, and this time her voice was dead cold. "What is happening here?" She narrowed her eyes at Seraphim, her heart pounding as she looked at her face and naked breasts, and managed to finish, "Why is the very Twin Princess of the Kingdom half-naked with you?"
"Now this is getting more interesting," Seraphim said, laughing. "So the woman you wanted to marry was Theophane Celeste herself? Sea, I thought you were used to women using you for their own gain? This woman has fucked almost every teacher and student at the Academy."
"Huh?" Sea’s eyes widened, and it felt like that day was going to be the worst of his life yet. "What do you mean by—!"
"And what about you, you slut of a princess, standing there half-naked in front of your own student, flaunting yourself before a man younger than you?" Theophane snapped, feeling a kind of anger she had never imagined directing at anyone other than Cassius and his goddess. "Who the hell are you to judge me when you have no shame yourself? Who gave you the right to stand there and spread lies about me?"
"I am half-naked, so what?" Seraphim said, smiling. "Am I arousing you, dear?"
Theophane’s lips pressed tight, and without meaning to, her eyes trailed down Seraphim’s scar-covered body, and she felt her heartbeat speed up even more. She suddenly bit her lip, taking control of herself, before glaring at Sea.
"Answer me, Sea," she hissed, walking menacingly towards him. "What did you do with her, knowing what you promised me?"
"Do we truly need to spell it out for you?" Seraphim retorted, then said flatly, "We slept together."
Theophane stopped in her tracks, shaking, looking at both of them.
"And just now," the princess went even further, finding a dark pleasure in this unexpected situation, "I was telling Sea that I could accept him as my consort. What do you think, Theophane?"
She tilted her head.
"Should I take him?"
[Vorn, Lord of Death, is looking at his descendant with profound exasperation.]
’Shut up, old man. It’s for my Cassius.’
[You are truly no better than Hel.]
’Eww. Never compare me to that half-undead again.’
