Chapter 445 – I Don’t Need You to Love Me to Be with You
"Should I take him?"
Theophane’s eyes went cold at that question, her heart tightening inside her chest.
She felt her essence surging within her, an aura of menace cloaking her. However, she knew it was useless.
With the strength of a Second Rank, there was no way she could intimidate Seraphim Hood in any way possible. That knowledge made her even angrier, and even more bitter about her fate.
"What kind of nonsense are you spouting?" Sea finally said, looking at Seraphim as if she had lost her mind. "Me? A consort?" He laughed, the very idea so ridiculous. "Do you really think I would become a consort?"
"You are not becoming just any consort," Seraphim said. "But my consort."
"That’s actually worse."
"Please, Sea. How old are you, to still believe the rumors about me?" she countered, shaking her head. "I am better than what they say. Way better. And do you really plan to marry this woman?"
"This woman has a name," Theophane said coldly, speaking for herself. "And yes, he will marry me." She swung her head towards Sea. "Won’t you, Sea? You promised me. And don’t go back on your word after sitting there telling me how your family has a root of Truth or I don’t know what."
Sea said nothing at those words.
"The very fact that she still wants to marry you after knowing that we slept together is quite... strange." The Princess tilted her head, curious. "I am a woman, sweetheart, so trust me on this. If Theophane loved you, she wouldn’t still be here. Which means she doesn’t love you, and she is with you for a purpose."
"And you think I don’t know that?" Sea looked at Seraphim from the corner of his eye, still holding his glass of water, swirling it from side to side. "I think both of you are taking me for too much of a fool. You seem not to understand, or maybe you forget, that I am a Wealth. I have seen and experienced things that you, the people of this kingdom, cannot begin to guess. I am not a fool."
He turned and looked at Theophane. "I know she wants something from me, and I know her love for me is most likely false. But that is the thing, Seraphim. I never said I have a woman who loves me."
He smiled for the first time since this whole ordeal began, and the two women finally caught a glimpse of the real Sea Wealth. "I said I have a woman that I love. Nuance."
"Vorn take me. Correct me if I am wrong, then." The princess chuckled, finding this whole situation more and more intriguing. "So you know this little bitch wants something, that she doesn’t love you, and still... you want to marry her?"
"Yes."
"Because you love her?"
"Yes," Sea replied, then finished his glass of water in one go and slammed it on the counter before turning to Seraphim. "Why? Is that surprising?"
Theophane fell into a tense silence, watching the discussion unfold.
She had always known that Sea Wealth was a peculiar man, and her instincts told her he was not what he seemed. But she needed him.
Both for the stability he could give her, and for all the possibilities that would fall into her hands, possibilities she needed in order to just... just hurt Cassius.
Just hurt him.
That was all she wanted.
But at this point, after what had happened at that man’s wedding, he was slipping farther and farther from her grasp. And that realization frightened her.
’Will... will I get my revenge?’ she thought, and the pain of possibly dying without making them pay was so deep that it felt as if her heart were being ripped from her chest.
’I... I... I can’t die without—!’
"It is indeed surprising," Seraphim said, and her voice snapped Theophane out of her dark thoughts, forcing her to focus on the situation at hand.
She had drawn closer and closer, now standing a few steps from Sea, and so within arm’s reach of Seraphim.
’Why isn’t this woman covering her breasts?’
It was so hard to focus!
"Maybe it is," Sea said lazily. "But I don’t need someone’s love to be with them. What I do need, however, is their willingness to be with me, and their sincerity." He looked at Theophane. "I don’t expect you to love me. In fact, I know you can’t. You don’t love yourself, I have noticed, so it’s impossible for you to love anyone else. But unfortunately, I do love you. I want you. And you have expressed your desire to be with me. I accepted, on the condition that you are loyal to me."
Then he paused, sighed, and continued, "I am sorry about what happened with... Seraphim. It was a mistake. It will not happen again. I won’t stop you if you want to end it all."
"You know well that I won’t," Theophane said, gritting her teeth. "You know it, Sea. Stop acting like this. It’s too late."
"I am still sorry."
"Then why is this woman still here?"
"Because I want to be," Seraphim said with an irritating smirk. "And because now I am curious about Sea."
She then focused on the man.
"If you don’t need to be loved, only someone willing to be with you, then be with me. What I want from you is simple and plain. I am not hiding it from you: I want your body. And I know you want mine. Even in this situation, you can’t hide your desire for me."
"I have—!"
"I am not this little girl. What you can have with me, you can’t have with anyone else."
Sea clamped his mouth shut, saying nothing. He stared at Seraphim, stared at her for a long time, and knew she was not going to change her mind.
It was obvious. She was going to pester him.
It would not be the first time women had bothered him like this. But this woman was not just any woman, and truth be told, Sea was not indifferent to Seraphim.
Yet somehow, he still wanted to be with Theophane, because he truly loved her.
Suddenly, Sea Wealth found himself in a situation he had never imagined he would be in one day.
Two special and unique women wanted to be with him. Neither of them loved him, and somehow, he was unable to refuse one of them because of love, and couldn’t get rid of the other because of her background, and something twisted inside him.
He sighed and stood up from the chair, heading towards the bathroom. "I need time alone," he said. "I need to think properly, and I certainly can’t do it with you two here. And yes, at this point, make yourselves at home."
Soon, he disappeared into the bathroom, his mind full of thoughts.
Seraphim and Theophane were left alone, and their eyes found each other instantly.
The princess smiled, and the White Seer scowled.
But then Theophane’s senses suddenly flared, warning her of danger.
Too late.
Seraphim’s body blurred, and her right hand found Theophane’s throat, gripping it so tightly that her nails dug into her flesh.
Theophane gasped, her eyes widening as pain burned through her throat.
"What...?" she managed, her voice hoarse.
"Few people in this whole kingdom can insult me and live, Theophane," Seraphim grated, her eyes void of amusement. "And you are not one of them. So do it again, and I will kill you."
"You... wouldn’t dare," she said, tired of being bullied by this whole goddamned family. "You wouldn’t dare."
"Oh, really?" The princess smiled. "Then insult me again. Let’s see if I dare or not."
Theophane opened her mouth to speak, but a vision flashed before her eyes. A vision of her body, completely dead, her head ripped from the rest of it, rolling on the ground.
The vision ended as fast as it came, and she shut her mouth, looking at Seraphim with trembling eyes.
Seraphim’s bloody grin widened. "It’s quite useful to be a Seer, I suppose."
"You... you..." Theophane was speechless. Was this woman really about to kill her?
"You have no idea who I am or what I am capable of, girl," Seraphim said. "But if I was ready to cripple my brother and kill thousands of people for the throne, you would be a fucking fool to believe I wouldn’t dare kill a random girl like you. Not even Sea can stop me. So control your damned mouth, alright?"
The White Seer said nothing.
She only looked at her, understanding just how mad this woman truly was.
Yet despite all the pain of being strangled, and the vision of her death so vivid, she was still struggling to ignore the fact that Seraphim’s breasts, which were quite big and firm, were right in her face.
"I... understand," Theophane coughed. "But let go of my throat and cover your chest." Then she paused and added with difficulty, "Please."
That last word demanded more strength than she thought it would.
"Why?" Seraphim grinned, letting go of Theophane’s throat, leaving behind the mark of her hand, and wrapped her arm around Theophane’s waist. She pulled her close, pressing their breasts together.
"I have heard that you play on both sides," Seraphim whispered to Theophane, enjoying her wide, shocked eyes. "I am not interested in women, but I can make an exception for you. What do you think?"
Her voice dropped even lower, and Theophane’s heart was about to burst.
"Do you want to kiss me, Theophane?"
