Chapter 303: Chapter 303 : Love Makes People Lose All Senses

As Sianna’s sword came down aimed right at Jax’s neck to split it apart, Jax rolled in his unconscious sleep. Fully countered the attack without waking up. The blade went past his neck and split the flesh of the beast beneath him instead.

Sianna clicked her tongue and went in again for a final blow But same result followed as he rolled the other way like a man having a pleasant dream about dodging responsibilities.

Frustrated and in pain, Sianna couldn’t hold it anymore. She dropped the sword and started gathering her mana. If the blade wouldn’t work, magic would.

Meanwhile inside Jax’s soul, Echidna didn’t know what to do about this suicidal sleeper. She was trying to wake him up from inside but he wasn’t even flinching. And that was all she could do to protect him because she couldn’t use her own powers in this state.

So she sighed. ’You brought this on yourself. Now pay for it.’

Then she realized something. ’Wait. Mother would go mad if he dies.’

She thought more. ’But she can resurrect him, right? But then why did she entrust him with me in the first place?’

She was fighting her own thoughts when the final realization hit. ’What am I even thinking? It’s not like I can actually do anything right now.’

So she just watched. Preparing herself to witness the end of Jax as Sianna was about to unleash her attack.

Sianna spoke through wrathful eyes. "You can’t run anymore, you filth. Now die, you accursed cur."

But before she could release her magic, something pressured around her throat. Invisible. Crushing. She began to choke and the magic she had gathered dissipated instantly.

She struggled while being completely baffled. Her already ruined body was going through even more pain at the hands of someone she couldn’t see.

She screamed in agony. "Show yourself, you coward!"

And at that moment, green light started spiraling in front of her. Forming a tornado that grew brighter and denser until it disappeared entirely. And behind it stood a beautiful woman.

Her gaze alone sent a chill down Sianna’s spine. Her heart was beating so rapidly it felt like it would rupture. A feeling of fear and terror that she had never once encountered in her entire life registered in her brain. Every instinct telling her to bow. To apologize. Because the being ahead of her was not normal.

The mana surrounding this woman made Sianna feel like puking. And through all that horror she managed to speak. "Who are you?"

The woman just smiled and said. "A coward, I guess. Isn’t that what you just called me?"

She walked toward the duchess who was naked and with swollen holes and On her knees. Then grabbed her by the jaw and said. "I also go by the name Witch of Eternity. But I’m sure I’m not quite popular enough to be remembered. Not in this timeline."

Sianna was confused as to why such a powerful being had appeared here of all places. "Why did you protect this worthless scum? This disgusting leec—"

Her words died in her throat. Because the anger on the witch’s face froze her blood solid. Her eyes glowed green and the mana leaking around her told Sianna she had made a terrible mistake.

The dead bodies of the beasts they had been lying on started to move. Their missing limbs regenerated from nothing. The terrain itself shifted and cracked, leaving Sianna struggling as the ground beneath her split apart and she started falling deeper and deeper.

But before she could get hurt, one of the mouths of the Hydra caught her mid-fall and placed her gently on solid ground. Meanwhile the witch stood on the back of the Griffin which was now very much alive and carrying Jax’s sleeping body.

The witch walked halfway toward Sianna. All the beasts Jax had killed during the day now stood around her in a circle. Resurrected. Complete. Showing exactly what kind of power this woman commanded.

She spoke with a dangerous face and tone. "Worthless? Choose your words more carefully. They may be your last."

Then she composed herself and said. "I don’t want to kill you. There would be consequences. But don’t mistake that for inability."

She raised her hand and Sianna’s body floated off the ground. The choking pressure returned around her throat.

"Just make sure you know your place. And never try to get in this man’s way again. I will be watching you. And if I find any plotting, or even an insult from that filthy mouth of yours, even I don’t know what I would do to you."

She dropped her hand. Sianna slammed into the ground.

The witch walked toward the naked and unconscious Jax. Touched his cheek while a gentle smile appeared across her face. In the next moment, his clothes fitted him perfectly. The same clothes which would have been ruined and buried beneath the bodies of the beasts were now restored and good as new on his body.

Then she clutched his face against her chest and said softly. "You are such a fool. Sleeping so peacefully when nothing around you is so peaceful."

Her smile vanished. She spoke through telepathy. "Echidna, stop hiding and show yourself."

Echidna said. "How do you know I was here, Tempris?"

"I know everything. You idiot."

Echidna said. "How foolish of me. But hey, where were you all this time? Things weren’t exactly quiet around here."

Tempris smiled again while looking down at Jax. She placed his head on her lap and said. "I know."

Echidna said. "By the way, who is this guy? And why do the ’don’t give a fuck’ types keep taking a liking to him? First Mother and now you. So who is he? And what is he to you?"

"Everything." Tempris replied while ruffling his hair.

Echidna said with cute anger. "Don’t mess with me and spill the beans. If it’s some romantic situation then I am absolutely in for the gossip."

Tempris flushed and said. "Shut up. There is nothing like that."

But Echidna ignored her as she was already deep in her imagination. "Come to think of it, now I understand why you always acted so cold in front of other men. You were busy saving all that warmth for him. You were freezing everyone else out just to melt for this one idiot."

Tempris said hissing. "Just shut up."

But Echidna continued. "But let me warn you, this guy is a cheater. Plus he is a disgusting perver—"

She stopped. Because the angry grin on Tempris’s face was one she recognized from centuries ago. The kind that preceded events Echidna preferred not to recall.

Tempris said. "You didn’t learn a single lesson from what I displayed a moment ago? Looks like I need to find your real body and play with it for a while."

Echidna gulped seeing the seriousness on her face. "How could you do such a thing to your own sister?"

"We aren’t sisters."

"How evil of you, sis. You forget the moments we spent together. Oh god, love sure does make people lose all senses."

"One more word about love and I will punish you right here."

"Zip."

Tempris looked down at Jax while a sad smile settled on her face. "Looks like my time has run out." She said. "Echidna, promise me you will take care of him. His path will be filled with danger and he will take it head on while being all alone."

She was already starting to fade. Her body dissolving into the same green light she had arrived in.

Echidna said quickly. "Wait! Where are you going?"

Tempris silenced her with a soft. "Sshh."

Then right before she vanished completely she said. "And don’t tell him anything about what happened here."

The green light disappeared. The late night breeze returned to the cliff. The resurrected beasts started to move in line like a trained dog towards deep inside forest while Jax continued sleeping.

Echidna cursed into the silence. "This girl has sure gone crazy."
