Chapter 304: Chapter 304 : Morning Wood Is A Certified Proof Of Masculinity
Jax woke up from his deep slumber.
His clueless eyes started scanning through the surroundings. He was confused. The beasts he had killed and used as his cushions were nowhere to be seen. The Behemoth, the Griffin, the Hydra, all of them gone. Just the flattened grass and some bloodstains remaining where a pile of dead monsters should have been.
Then he saw the sun rising above the cliff and muttered. "Fuck. When did I pass out? And in the territory of my enemy at that."
His eyes scanned further and found Sianna. Laid on the ground. Naked. Her ass raised slightly with purple Jacaranda petals scattered across it like some twisted painting.
A voice rang in his mind. "You pervert, don’t you dare start again. I am already going through a lifetime of trauma."
Jax said to Echidna. "What do you take me for? I am not some shameless pervert."
"Really?"
Then she added. "Care to explain what’s happening in your pants?"
Jax looked down and found his dick pledging its allegiance to the morning sun through the fabric of his pants. He covered it with both hands in shame. As if he hadn’t made a full spectacle with that thing for an entire day and night.
He said in a panicky voice. "This is just morning wood. An identification of a real man and a certified proof of masculinity. And it is totally unrelated to whatever you are thinking."
Echidna wasn’t convinced. "Is that so?"
Jax ignored her. Then paused. Because he realized he was wearing clothes. Clean clothes.
"Who dressed me?"
He patted his shirt and thought. ’What the hell is going on? How come the fabrics that should be covered in dust and blood or precisely ruined are wrapped around my body in a good as new state? If I’m not wrong these should have been buried beneath the beasts.’
He stopped.
’Wait. Beasts? Where the hell did they disappear to? What is going on?’
His eyes found Sianna again. Still sleeping. Recovering from the rough day of work.
He thought. ’Did she do this? Otherwise it makes no sense. But come to think of it, that makes even less sense. Why would she care about dressing me? Instead of wrapping me in clothes and cleaning them she would split my head clean off.’
Then Jax realized how massive of a mistake he had committed. He fell asleep right beside the one person in this world who wanted him dead the most. And seeing his vulnerability, she would have absolutely tried to kill him.
He was cursing himself for being so stupid.
He went to pick up his sword and started walking away while thinking. ’Sianna must have been really exhausted. Left with no strength to strike me while I slept. Or maybe she passed out even before me.’
He shrugged. ’She sure missed a great opportunity.’
And while Jax was making things up in his head to explain the unexplainable, he felt the presence of multiple people. And before his mind could fully process the threat, arrows and a few spears shot at him from various directions.
Seeing the attack, Jax had a wide grin.
Because he was feeling different. Very different from before. The world felt slow to him now. He could see the trajectories. The patterns. The coordinated attack designed to leave no room for dodging was nothing but a trial run for his new levels.
So he played along. He cut down arrows one after another, dancing through the barrage in a rhythm that felt more like entertainment than survival. Then came an arrow and a spear at the same time. The arrow targeting his head while the spear, formed from water magic, was aimed at his chest.
Jax simply split the spear down the middle. The water splashes wrapped around his bloody sword while he used his mouth to grab the arrow by its wooden shaft and crushed it between his teeth.
He sat down on the ground. Started rubbing his bloody sword on the grass to clean it while saying casually. "How did you know I needed water?"
He wiped his face with the remaining water splashes from the shattered spear.
"Thanks for the hospitality. It seems like I have to give a farewell now as I have things to do. But don’t worry. I’ll pay a visit again soon."
Hearing that, all the girls from the female order stepped out of their hiding spots among the trees.
The commander from before was burning with rage. Her eyes traveled past Jax and landed on Sianna’s side. Where the duchess was laid out. Naked. In terrible condition. Hair a mess. Face ruined. Body swollen and bruised everywhere.
Her anger reached its limit as she said. "You’ve made a grave mistake."
The girls surrounded him from all sides and were about to attack.
Jax was ready for some slaughter. But before anyone could make the first move, a voice silenced them all.
"Stop this instant."
All eyes turned to Sianna who had started to stand on trembling legs.
"Enough of it. Leave him."
The commander rushed to her side. Covered her body with a royal shawl. Then bowed and said. "But Your Grace, we can’t just—"
Sianna’s hard voice cut her off. "Now you will decide what I should do and what I should not?"
The rage was burning in Sianna’s eyes. She couldn’t do a thing about Jax and she knew it.
She said. "Don’t lay a single hand on him. We are going back to the palace from here. And that is an order."
The order shocked every woman present. Because the duchess they knew would have hung this man from the highest tower by his entrails. Along with his family and whoever he called friends. But seeing her turn away without even punishing him made absolutely no sense.
And on top of that, there was fear in their duchess’s eyes as she looked at Jax. A fear they had never once seen in her before.
Jax himself was baffled. He didn’t know what had changed her. Was it the fear of him using the second day of his reward right now? Or could she somehow sense the new power coursing through his body after maxing out?
Either way, it saved him the time he would have wasted on handling her.
Speaking of time. He realized something.
"My queen Sianna, what is the time right now?"
Sianna twitched for a second at the mention of her name. More fear settling into her expression. But recognizing it as just a question, she turned to the commander. "Report the time."
The commander checked her pocket watch. "It’s 6:07."
Jax’s face went pale. His first class with the new first-year students was scheduled at 9. And there was absolutely no way he could make it back to the academy on time from here.
He muttered. "Fuck. I am screwed."
