Chapter 236: Daemon and Queen
Chapter 236: Daemon and Queen
Chronalis was the first to reach their altitude, her time manipulation allowing her to move despite her injuries. She took a position at Kailthrys’s right hand, her eyes showing pain but also determination.
"Your Majesty," she said quietly.
"Are we certain this is necessary? He fought honorably. Showed restraint with his power."
"Today," Kailthrys replied.
"He showed restraint today. What about tomorrow? What about when he’s angry, or desperate, or simply curious about what he can do with all that chaos? We can’t risk it."
Vorathys, the death goddess, took position opposite Chronalis. Her domain gave her unique insight into Jaenor’s nature, and what she saw troubled her.
"He doesn’t have a normal death," she observed.
"His existence is tangled with forces I can’t cleanly end. Sealing may indeed be the only option."
Aethormor appeared last, his spatial abilities letting him manifest directly into his assigned position. He looked at Jaenor with something like regret.
"Nothing personal, boy. But you’re an anomaly that threatens cosmic stability. Can’t have that."
"Cosmic stability," Jaenor repeated, his voice dripping with contempt.
"That’s what you’re calling this? You’re scared I might upset your comfortable hierarchy, so you’re going to imprison me. And you wonder why I don’t trust divine beings."
"Trust is irrelevant," Kailthrys said.
"Action is what matters. And the action we’re taking is sealing you before you become an even greater problem."
She turned to Suyajna, who floated nearby, preparing her own techniques.
"The seal. Explain how this will work."
Suyajna gestured, and dark energy formed into visible diagrams, showing the structure of what she intended.
"Phase one: Containment. The Sovereigns surround him; use your combined authority to lock down his position. Not trying to harm him, just prevent him from escaping while the seal is prepared."
"Phase two: Identification. I’ll use my connection to him, the fact that I consumed him, and that traces of my essence still exist in his system to locate the Origin Aura threads within his Chaos Origin."
"Phase three: Anchoring. Once located, I’ll attach seal markers to those organized energy threads. They’ll serve as anchor points, places where order can impose structure on chaos."
"Phase four: Expansion. The Sovereigns channel power through me into those anchor points. The seal spreads from the organized energy outward, gradually encasing more and more of his chaotic nature."
"Phase five: Completion. Once enough of his power is sealed, his consciousness can be locked down. We’ll trap him in a space specifically designed to contain his nature. He’ll exist in suspended animation, aware but unable to act, unable to break free."
"This place will become his living tomb."
The plan was elegant in its brutality. Using his own organized energy against him, turning the very thing that made him unique into the tool of his imprisonment.
Kailthrys nodded slowly.
"It could work. But it requires perfect execution. If he breaks free during phases two through four, this becomes a fight we might not win."
"That’s why you heal your wounded Sovereigns first," Suyajna said.
"Restore them to full power. And why I need to absorb additional strength to assist properly."
She looked toward where the Seven Sins still watched from the forest edge.
"Their power will flow back to me, and combined with what I’ve already achieved, I’ll become something that can properly assist a Sovereign Queen."
Jaenor was watching them, but he didn’t do anything. He was confident that he could deal with whatever they were planning. His tremendous power gave him the courage.
Kailthrys made her decision.
"Chronalis, use your time manipulation to accelerate healing on the wounded. I want every Sovereign at full strength within minutes. Aethormor, prepare spatial locks around our target’s position. Multiple layers, redundant systems. Vorathys, stand ready to sever any connection he tries to establish with external power sources."
The Sovereigns moved to obey, their divine coordination making the preparations swift and efficient.
Suyajna descended toward the ground, toward where the Seven Sins stood.
She looked at them, and they understood what she was going to do.
They all knelt before her.
She raised her hands, and dark energy erupted from her palms. It split into seven streams, each one targeting a different Sin.
Pride’s form began to dissolve, power flowing back to its source.
Then he was gone, absorbed completely.
One by one, the Seven Sins were absorbed into her, their power flowing back into Suyajna, their consciousness being reintegrated into the being who’d birthed them.
And as she absorbed them, Suyajna changed.
Her form expanded and grew taller and more massive. Additional arms erupted from her torso, not two, not four, but fourteen in total, each one ending in clawed hands that dripped with dark power.
Her face split, not literally but through the manifestation of additional features. Four eyes total now, arranged in a diamond pattern, each one seeing different aspects of reality.
Her elegant beauty was gone, replaced by something that defied description. Not monstrous in a simple way, but wrong. An abomination that combined a daemon goddess’s nature with the Seven Sins’ fundamental aspects.
She was Pride and Wrath and Lust and Greed and Sloth and Envy and Gluttony, all unified into a singular horrific form.
When she spoke, her voice carried seven distinct tones simultaneously.
"Now I’m ready. Now I have the power to assist properly."
She rose to rejoin Kailthrys, her fourteen arms moving independently, her four eyes all focusing on Jaenor with predatory intensity.
Above, Chronalis had completed her work. The wounded Sovereigns were restored, Vorathys’s arm regrown, Chronalis’s own legs healed, and the burns on the others erased through accelerated time manipulation.
Six Sovereigns at full power, arranged in a perfect hexagon around Jaenor’s position.
And at the center, above them all, was Kailthrys the Sovereign Queen, with Suyajna’s transformed abomination floating beside her.
Jaenor looked at the assembled force arrayed against him, and his expression shifted through several emotions. Anger, certainly. Betrayal, at being attacked after proving himself.
But underneath it all, determination.
"So this is it," he said quietly.
"This is how cosmic justice works. Fight me to a draw, then gang up with overwhelming numbers and call it necessary."
"Yes," Kailthrys said simply.
"Because I’ve learned that fairness is less important than results. And the result we need is you contained."
She raised her hand, golden light blazing.
"Begin."
