Chapter 2137: That Dagger Again

The Immortal steps.

And the eleventh steps of the stairway.

Not considered one of the steps.

A gap in the steps.

That invisible step is not considered as part of the true Supremacy Stairway.

But it is like a line dividing between mortal and immortals.

The moment he lifts his feet he felt divine energy entering his body.

And he laughed

"What a different treatment!" he noted and he could not help but laugh loudly. In the past when he lifted his feet to walk the step after reaching the eleventh step, he felt pain in his entire beings.

It was like every part of him is being cut, being stabbed.

Of course, since then he had experienced more pain and more inexplicable torment.

But that did not mean that pain did not give him scare. This time however, he did not feel any of that cutting and stabbing feeling

"because I am no longer a mortal. There is no mortal part in me?" he asks himself. The Supremacy Stairway would not answer him

The answer you get is the answer. Maybe that is the whole point. Those who reached this stair are all beings who have that invincible aura.

Sometimes, that aura is innate. Since they were born, they believe they could conquer the world.

And it is not simply a belief. They truly did it and each victory created this invincible mentality

Some cultivated it. With each victory, after victory, after more victory, their mindset had changed

It is not like they become arrogant. Arrogant is the precursor toa downfall.

This invincible mindset is some kind of "pride" that appears with confidence and experience

They believe that they could defy the odds.

They believe that even when the situation is dire, they could turn it back

This kind of belief somehow created miracles.

Because some people faltered almost immediately when they are faced with pressure and faced with insurmountable odds.

But only those who have such mindset could see the escape path.

The ironic thing, those who have this kind of mentality does not always see the escape path in the beginning

Most of the time, when they are in dire strait, they too, could not see an escape path.

But they could laugh at the death staring at them in the face, and then pointed a sword into this closed door.

And somehow, as they keep fighting forward, somehow, that closed door.... open a gap.

From a dead end, to a small chance of victory.

And those who have this mindset somehow managed to pried open the door from that small gap

Of course, sometimes, such people die.

After all, even if you open a gap, it did not mean you could open the entire door.

But, if he did not even try from the very beginning, if he is not bold enough to point the sword forward and relentlessly charge forward regardless of seeing the insurmountable odds, then that gap would not have opened at all

Like the universe has a heart.

And its beating is creating this rhythm.

This beat seems to be created from many universes.

And each beat is slightly different, yet somehow it harmonizes when it reaches his ears.

Probably when the beat first occurs, it is out of sync.

But once it reaches his ears, the beats have already sync with each other

The Song of the Universe

This is not the first time Azief had heard such song.

He had heard it in many breakthrough

He did not think much of it. He knows it is called the Song of the world, the song of the seas, the song of the Universe depending on where this song comes from

Some have souls but do not have intelligence. But there is something in even the most inodiated thing.

A soul.

What is this so-called soul anyway?

No one really knows and different supreme beings have different interpretation of what a soul is

They know it exists.

They just didn’t know whether their version of the soul is the real version of the soul

One thing is certain.

A soul is like some kind of instruction.

Even a proton, or neutron, or electron, these most infinitesimally small particles that made up an atom has a soul

Though the instruction of this soul is probably different than the direction of a soul of a being like a human or an animal or nay other beings

Stones have souls, water, soil, air.

A soul is not tangible.

This is something that Supreme Beings have all discovered.

It almost like it is not there. But it is there. You just couldn’t see it. You couldn’t touch it.

You would even find it difficult to conceptualize it.

But you could sense it

The stronger and the close you are to the Universe the more you are attuned to this sense.

One might think if everything has a soul then wouldn’t that be a sin of killing when one crushes a rock, or one sip water, or when one mess up the soil beneath their feet

Mortals sometimes correlate soul with life.

But to supreme beings not all that have soul have life.

This is a hard concept for some mortals to accept.

To most mortal, they think since they can think, they can moralize, they can seek knowledge and do all of these stuff that no other beings could do, only beings that possess the same kind of constitution or specification could possess soul

When one crushes a rock they found on the side of the road, they did not ponder whether rocks have souls.

But they do.

They are just not alive.

In a simpler way, everything has a soul.

Everything.

Like if you made a game, and everything is zeroes and one.

And that is it.

Soul is the building block that exist but could not be seen, could not be touched and mortal even debated its existence

Because mortals are limited.

They could only see certain things.

And the most limited are those who simply believe in their senses.

They did not believe things they could not see with their eyes

Then they created the microscope and they see things that their eyes couldn’t see.

It was like a new world had opened up.

Then they created more powerful microscope, electron microscope that could even see atoms

But what about things they couldn’t see?

They believe that eventually they could create things that could see even further.

Some wanted to delve into quantum world, and see a new world.

Some would porose all kinds of theory to see different worlds and they all would believe that they could achieve this.

But there is limitation to mortals’ ability.

One of them is their longevity.

The other are their inherent limitation of senses.

Then there are many other limitations.

Of course, if they focused their energy in exploring all kinds of science, these limitations could be expunged, reduced or even removed entirely.

but how many mortal civilizations is like that? Most of the time, the advancement of their technology outpaced their mentality

they lost their souls even before they could reach the peak and when one loses their souls, darkness fills the heart.

And when darkness fills the heart, then life become worthless

And when a civilization put life at the back of the priority, then it would not be long for such civilization to either crumble to other forces or crumble from within

It would be like it cannibalizes itself

Even magical beings find out hard to gauge of what is the soul is.

Azief is here on the steps of the Supremacy Stairway, debating the nature of souls and he could not help but laugh

"Hahaha!"

That is what these songs are resonance souls.

And you could hear it.

Sometimes, it is warning you.

Sometimes, it is urging you on.

Other times, it just wanted to sing its song.

Azief did not know the intention of this song.

But hearing it made his soul feel refreshed. He smiles and take another step

"Is it the dagger this time?" he seems to be asking himself and as he ask this, there is dagger that appears.

An illusory dagger. Could cut through planets and universes like it was nothing.

The aura of it cut the spacetime around its edges

Azief smiles.

This dagger had once cut him.

This time however, this dagger did not come fast at him.

Instead, it is there in front of him, seemingly floating
