Chapter 504 Daniel Full Of Bad Tags
Chapter 504 Daniel Full Of Bad Tags
As Luis was speaking, the car gave another jolt.
Ruth looked back and noticed the tires of the car behind them, which had been rigidly still, were now rolling. She said in slight astonishment, "Son-in-law, how is that car able to move? Wasn't the handbrake already engaged?"
"The brake parts have snapped. With that level of quality, even a slight tug is too much force for them."
Luis spoke smugly as he drove, towing the car all the way to the entrance of the community. With a cold smirk, he pulled the car to a stop just outside the underground garage, got out, and untied the tow rope from the rear.
"Parking it here means no one else can get out!"
Ruth instantly understood what her son-in-law intended to do.
Luis chuckled darkly. "That's right. Since he wasn't willing to come move his car, we can't exactly let him move it easily now, can we?"
As he spoke, a car pulled up. It was an apprentice from Fatty's repair shop.
"Thanks for the trouble!"
The apprentice dropped off the supplies and left. Luis efficiently deflated all four tires of the battered car, then fastened locking wheel clamps onto them.
He then wrapped an iron chain around the axle and bearing area underneath. His movements were so swift and seamless that Ruth watched with sheer satisfaction.
"All done!"
To prevent the property management from pulling any more stunts, Luis drove his Mercedes over to a temporary parking spot in Phase Two, then circled back and headed home with his mother-in-law.
The property management company for Phase Two belonged to the Taiga family, so parking there was a safer bet.
It wasn't the theft itself that was frightening, it was the fear of being targeted. Luis certainly wasn't going to wait around for someone to come knocking. As soon as he got home, he told his mother-in-law to go shower first, then dialed Bella.
He got straight to the point. "President Bella, don't tell me you didn't know what was going on with that property management company."
The Phase One property was under the Leon family's control. There was no way Bella could claim ignorance, she was far too well-connected at a critical moment like this.
"I only just found out," Bella said, her tone laced with resignation. "It's nominally our family's asset, but in reality, Leon's brother put his wife and her relatives in charge of it. So I don't really have any say over what happens there."
"His wife?"
"Her name is Kiara. She manages the property company and also runs a small real estate agency in your neighborhood."
That clicked everything into place. Luis let out a cold laugh. "President Bella, looks like you're trying the old 'kill with a borrowed knife' trick again. Leon's brother's got a hard-on for picking a fight with me, and you've been enjoying the show from the sidelines, haven't you?"
"I'm being wronged here. That man's brain is full of shit."
"You saw what happened that night. We're in the middle of a fight over the inheritance now. You really think he'd listen to anything I say?"
"The more I try to talk him down, the more stubborn he gets, alright?"
"Speaking of borrowed knives, though... I've got a pretty good idea. Haven't the property management teams for Phase One and Two been at each other's throats lately?"
"Alright, alright. We'll talk another time."
Luis rolled his eyes and hung up. Still, he knew he couldn't let this slide. It wasn't the crime that scared you, it was the obsession.
"Hey... Don't get cocky just because I'm being polite."
An unfamiliar number flashed on the screen. It was Leon's brother. His voice was low and venomous. "You think you can protect that bitch? Don't make this your fight, or I'll make sure your family doesn't have a single peaceful day."
Luis mulled it over. He'd already arranged to meet Nina for drinks that night, he wanted to understand what was really going on, why Leon's brother was coming after him with such obsessive rage.
Nina had agreed without hesitation. They decided to meet at Hans's bar.
By the time Luis arrived, the bar wasn't too crowded. At the small counter, Daniel was grinning ear to ear, deep in animated conversation with a young boy.
The boy looked like a freshly of-age college student. Fair-skinned, delicate features, classically handsome, the kind of boy-next-door with an irresistibly cute smile and little fangs when he laughed. Definitely a certified baby-faced heartthrob.
"Luis, meet our future sales champion."
The moment Daniel saw Luis, a flicker of unease flashed across his face. He quickly sent the handsome young man off to take care of some work.
Luis raised an eyebrow. Could it be that Daniel had already crossed that line? He pulled up the Persona Tags and stared, stunned.
Cuckold. Green-hat enthusiast. Both tags were still there, unchanged, same old. Just the font was a little darker, that was all.
But they were completely overshadowed by the third tag: Homosexual. Not only did it have an absurdly bold golden background, but the font was thick and heavy, almost aggressively prominent, like it had fully manifested, saturated with completion.
This was probably the final stage of the Persona Tag system. Among the three, this one had been fully realized.
A purebred gay man. Throw him into a military barracks or a prison cell, and he'd swim like a fish in water. Those were dream environments for men like him.
And Hans's bar? It was famous throughout the surrounding cities, even the capital knew of it as a premier gay hotspot.
Most of the clientele were wealthy, sophisticated, attractive men. Of course Daniel would lose control here. He couldn't resist grazing on his own pasture.
He was thriving here. That was why the homosexual tag had completely activated. Chances were, he'd already slept with that boy.
"Brother-in-law, business been okay the last couple of days? My sister hasn't come by to help?"
Luis suppressed his exasperation and sat down to chat.
Daniel shook his head. "She went to get a facial with Blanche. They've been exhausted these past few days, they need the rest."
Daniel's marketing strategy for the bar was simple: seduction as the core appeal. So his fairy-like sister-in-law, and married women like Chloe, would dress to kill and drop by.
Blanche did the same. Hell, Daniel even threw himself into it, once suggesting that Luis should dress a little sexier and come hang out too.
The whole point was to lure people in. That's why the budget for entertaining Nancy and her college alumni had ballooned recently.
And then Nina arrived, gliding in like water. She wore a sleek black dress that made her look both delicate and devastatingly seductive. Her hair fell loosely, silver earrings catching the light and sparkling with every subtle turn.
The moment she walked in, all eyes were on her. The female regulars, the straight men nursing their drinks, everyone swallowed hard.
"I'll leave you two to talk."
Daniel's gaze at Nina was unnervingly innocent. He smiled politely and excused himself.
Luis smiled and was about to order a drink when Nina took the initiative, looping her arm through his. Her voice was soft. "I haven't eaten yet. Will you take me to get something to eat?"
"Sure."
She was driving Bella's ostentatious red Ferrari. Luis had always thought it suited Nina better, this was what a real beauty and a luxury car should look like.
Behind the wheel, her cheeks slightly flushed, Nina murmured, "I told her you invited me out. Do you know what she said to me?"
"What?"
Luis asked almost instinctively.
