Chapter 6411: Xiahou Jue
Many powers were gathered at the Immemorial Cemetery’s entrance. They had come to watch the commotion, only to be sucked into the Immemorial Cemetery right before it closed.
They dared not to venture in, so they continued to linger at the entrance. They were hoping that the entrance would open soon so that they could leave this place.
Little did they know that a humble tombstone realm nearby was drawing a huge army over, and this tombstone realm was none other than the sixth star.
“T-t-the heck! Is this it?” Wang Qiang exclaimed.
The group had already inspected the tombstone even when they were still a distance away. They found nothing special about it, but they thought they were just too far away, and that they should notice something peculiar when they observed it close up.
They were close to the tombstone realm now, but they still failed to find anything special about it. It still looked as normal as it was before. It felt like an average tombstone realm with nothing good inside, so much so that they wouldn’t have been surprised if it was empty.
“Yes, this is it. There’s no mistake,” Chu Feng replied confidently. He turned to Shen Hui, who controlled their escape teleportation formation, and said, “The sixth star will be more difficult to deal with. It could be different from the other tombstone realms we have been to. We need to be more vigilant than before.”
“Don’t worry, Lord Chu Feng,” Shen Hui replied.
The crowd dared not to let their guard down. They faced no trouble passing through the formation layer, but the moment they entered the formation realm, Chu Feng felt an ominous premonition.
Before they could examine the tombstone realm, the sky suddenly turned blood-red. Thick, crimson smoke resembling fresh blood had enveloped the sky, and it harnessed tremendous energy.
“It’s a sealing formation. Lord Chu Feng, the teleportation formation has been sealed off,” Shen Hui said apologetically. She could still invoke the talisman paper, but the teleportation formation they had prepared wouldn’t work.
Huangfu Zhantian also noticed something was amiss and raised his cultivation. He whipped out his God Armament spear and thrust it toward the crimson aura.
Boom!
The crimson aura rippled, but it remained unfazed.
“What’s going on? Is it a trap?” Huangfu Zhantian murmured with a tight frown.
The crimson aura was formidable, but it wasn’t native to the tombstone realm, evident from how it was at odds with the tombstone realm’s aura.
“Over there.”
The area where Chu Feng looked at distorted, and a figure appeared out of thin air. He was dressed in a red cloak, a red, veiled bamboo hat, and a red cape. Written on the cape were the words ‘Netherworld Marshall’.
“It’s someone from the Netherworld Sect?”
The crowd was surprised. Why would someone from the Netherworld Realm be here? Could he be the culprit behind the terrifying crimson aura?
“Song Yun?”
Before Chu Feng could say anything, the Netherworld Marshall cast his eyes on Song Yun. His voice resembled that of a middle-aged man.
But with the exception of Huangfu Zhantian, Chu Feng, Song Yun, and the others was still hiding inside a concealment formation. The Netherworld Marshall’s ability to see through their concealment, as well as the crimson aura sealing off the tombstone realm, made it clear that he was extremely powerful.
“Lord Xiahou? What are you doing here?” Song Yun asked in surprise.
At the same time, she sent a voice transmission to Chu Feng and the other key figures of the group. “He is Xiahou Jue, a Netherworld Marshall belonging to the new faction. He and the others in the Netherworld Sect’s upper echelons went into closed-door training at the same time, and they were at Heavenly God level before then.
“I don’t know whether their closed-door training succeeded or not, but if it succeeded, they would have grasped the power of the Netherworld Embryo. If so, it’d be tough for me to estimate how much stronger he is now.”
Xiahou Jue took off his veiled bamboo hat, revealing a ghastly-pale, emaciated face. His eyes were emanating the same crimson aura that enveloped the tombstone realm. He likely noticed them due to the crimson aura.
This crimson aura was also at odds with his own aura; it was likely from an external treasure.
“The Netherworld Sect has been around since the nascent years of the present era, and it has many formidable treasures in its grasp. However, these treasures can only be channeled with a sufficiently powerful Netherworld Embryo. He must have succeeded in his closed-door training, granting him further control over the Netherworld Embryo to channel those treasures,” Song Yun warned.
“I chanced upon the Immemorial Cemetery right after I emerged from my closed-door training, so I came to join the commotion. It’s a huge coincidence. The Immemorial Cemetery closed the moment I came in here. I wouldn’t have been able to get in here if I was any slower.
“Perhaps I was lucky, but I received a directive from the Immemorial Cemetery to kill everyone who steps into this tombstone realm. If I succeed, I’ll receive a huge benefit. I didn’t expect so many people to come here. It must be a truly huge benefit,” Xiahou Jue spoke with a smile.
He looked at Chu Feng and the others as if they were sheep in the slaughterhouse.
“So, h-h-he’s here to ambush us. But how does he know w-w-we’ll be here? Is he the one planning to s-s-stop us from forming the Seven Stars Orbs?” Wang Qiang asked.
Chu Feng didn’t say a word. Something felt amiss. Someone was keeping track of their movements, but he couldn’t tell if this was someone’s scheme or the directive of the Immemorial Cemetery’s directive.
“Lord Xiahou, could this be a misunderstanding?” Song Yun asked.
“Misunderstanding? How so? I was promised a benefit if I killed you. Would you give up on this opportunity if you were in my shoes?” Xiahou Jue asked.
“Lord Xiahou, my friends are here as well. Can you spare them on my account? We have grasped the initiative in the Immemorial Cemetery, and there are fortuitous encounters to be found all around. We’ll compensate you severalfold,” Song Yun replied.
“Spare them on your account? Song Yun, you’re a Netherworld Sectmember, but you aren’t wearing your uniform and are instead hanging out with these people. You must have betrayed our sect, haven’t you?” Xiahou Jue asked.
“Lord Xiahou, that joke isn’t funny. The Netherworld Sect has treated me well. I’d never betray the sect! I’m under the Netherworld Sect’s orders to explore the Immemorial Cemetery. I’m only with my friends to better accomplish the mission,” Song Yun replied.
Song Yun knew Xiahou Jue rarely intervened with sect affairs, and he had only just emerged from his closed-door training. There was a chance he hadn’t received news about her leaving the Netherworld Sect yet, so she thought she could pretend that she was still a Netherworld Sectmember to convince him to spare them.
“Hah... You’re a resourceful one to have made so many friends. But Song Yun, humans are inherently greedy. I’d receive a huge fortuitous encounter by killing you. Even if you are here under the Netherworld Sect’s order, you’re still doomed to die here today. Only I, Xiahou Jue, will leave this place alive today,” Xiahou Jue declared confidently.
“Damn it! That bastard wants to kill us all. Why are we wasting words on him? Let’s screw him over already!”
Unable to tolerate it anymore, Huangfu Zhantian brandished his spear to slice Xiahou Jue into half, but the strike dissipated before it could reach. Xiahou Jue casually unleashed a sliver of his oppressive might.
That was enough to plunge the crowd into despair.
Xiahou Jue was a rank four Heavenly God!
