Chapter 6412: Promise of Ten Days
A searing aura suddenly assaulted the crowd from all directions. It only took an instant for everyone to be sweating profusely. The heat was unbearable.
To deal with the incoming heat, the Huangfu Heavenly Clan’s Clan Chief unleashed his martial power, and Shen Hui hurriedly constructed a formation. Even so, the heat remained unbearable for most people.
“Damn it! W-w-what is this? Are we in a c-c-cauldron?” Wang Qiang exclaimed in a fluster.
Flames were raging all around them, both in the sky and on earth. It felt like the world had transformed into a pill cauldron.
“He isn’t the one behind the flames,” Chu Feng said with a frown.
While Xiahou Jue was a powerful rank four Heavenly God antagonistic to them, the flames around them didn’t contain his aura. The flames felt like the Immemorial Cemetery’s tribute formation.
He looked at Xiahou Jue and saw that the latter was unfazed by the flames.
“It’s true. It looks like the Immemorial Cemetery intends to assimilate you.”
Xiahou Jue smirked in glee. With a wave of his sleeves, the crimson aura morphed into countless arrows that shot toward Chu Feng and the others.
However, the arrows shattered as if they had crashed into an invisible wall.
A black aura containing countless blood-red eyes had manifested out of nowhere and enveloped the surroundings. It was this black aura that blocked those crimson aura arrows.
“New king?”
The crowd turned to the new king. The black aura was from the new king, but who could have thought he could raise his cultivation level from rank one Heavenly God to rank four Heavenly God?
“You’re able to raise your cultivation by three ranks as a Heavenly God?!”
Xiahou Jue wasn’t the only shocked one. Even the experts on Chu Feng’s side were flabbergasted as well. That explained why the new king had been so confident. His limit was not rank three but rank four Heavenly God!
“Who are you?” Xiahou Jue asked.
He did notice the new king, but he thought the other party was just another Ancient Era’s monstrous beast and was nothing noteworthy. But things were different now. The other party was displaying strength and talent that he had to take seriously.
“You’re not worthy of knowing who I am,” the new king said.
He straightened his right arm and opened his palm. A black thorn emerged from his palm.
The black thorn was long, resembling a spear, but it was no ordinary weapon. It felt more like the new king’s body part.
The new king placed the black thorn next to him.
Boom!
More black aura flared from the new king as he grew several times stronger.
“You miserable creature. Are you certain you want to make an enemy out of me?”
The new king looked at Xiahou Jue in disdain. His gaze sent shivers down Xiahou Jue’s spine.
“Y-you are a junior?” Xiahou Jue asked.
This was important. Xiahou Jue was a prodigy as well, but he had only reached this level by tapping into the Netherworld Sect’s vast resources, obtaining many fortuitous encounters, and cultivating for countless years.
If the new king were a junior, he couldn’t begin to imagine the humongous chasm that would arise between them in the near future.
“Scram right now, and I’ll spare your life,” the new king said.
“Lord Xiahou, this entity’s ancestors used to be a powerhouse in the Ancient Era. He isn’t an entity we can deal with. There might still be hope if you back off now, or else our Netherworld Sect will be destroyed because of your actions today,” Song Yun said.
She understood Xiahou Jue. The latter wasn’t intimidated that easily. She had to stoke his fears further to force him to retreat.
“Is he that formidable?” Xiahou Jue first remarked, then burst into laughter. “Hahaha...”
He laughed manically as if he had lost his mind. Then, he reined in his smile and flared his killing intent. “More reason not to let you off. The strong prey on the weak. I might kill you if I go all out today, but if I let you leave, I’ll definitely die in your hands in the future.”
Xiahou Jue clasped his hands, and a golden God Armament truncheon emerged from each hand. Crimson aura gushed from his body and enveloped the God Armaments, greatly raising his fighting prowess.
He crossed the two God Armaments before swinging them.
The world shook. A humongous blood gorge hissed as it charged toward Chu Feng and the others.
The new king waved his sleeves and sent his black aura at the blood gorge.
The world shook yet again when the red and black auras clashed. Were it not for the new king’s intervention, that single move could have killed all of them.
“Incredible!”
The crowd was awed by the strength of the rank four Heavenly Gods.
“Chu Feng, can I trust you?” the new king sent a voice transmission to Chu Feng.
“What’s wrong?” Chu Feng asked.
“I’ll give you ten days. You have to save me within ten days,” the new king said.
He formed a hand seal and vanished. The next moment, he reappeared behind Xiahou Jue.
“An ambush? Hmph, I’ve been expecting you.”
Xiahou Jue was prepared for it. As soon as the new king appeared, he twisted his God Armaments to slash at him.
The strike landed, but Xiahou Jue stiffened up. The area where he struck the new king at emanated thick puffs of black aura that coiled around his weapons.
“Ant Tribe’s Secret Skill: Mutual Imprisonment!”
A dense black aura poured out from the new king’s body to form a massive sphere that enveloped him and Xiahou Jue. Xiahou Jue thrashed around with all his might, but he was helpless against the sphere prison.
Just then, the new king’s black thorn shot toward the sky.
It struck the crimson aura sealing off the tombstone realm, forming ripples of crimson and black that swiftly brewed into a massive vortex. Moments later, the black thorn finally pierced through the crimson aura, thus unraveling the seal.
“The n-n-new king is sacrificing himself to rescue us! Is he no m-m-match for Xiahou Jue?” Wang Qiang asked in bewilderment.
The new king boasted tremendous fighting prowess. With both him and Xiahou Jue at rank four Heavenly God level, he should have been able to easily subdue Xiahou Jue.
“His aura changed,” Chu Feng replied.
“Ah? It did!”
The crowd realized that even though the black aura imprisoning the new king and Xiahou Jue remained at rank four Heavenly God level, the new king’s cultivation had regressed to rank one Heavenly God level.
They finally understood what was going on.
The new king must have resorted to an unorthodox means to raise his cultivation to rank four Heavenly God level. This increment couldn’t be sustained for long, and his fighting prowess also wouldn’t have been as strong as it was when he was at rank three Heavenly God level.
He was doing this just to save Chu Feng and the others.
Shen Hui and the others quickly transported Chu Feng and the others out of the tombstone realm.
As they flew out, Chu Feng noticed the black thorn. It had been a majestic spear moments ago, but as if having expended all its energy, it was only the size of a carrot now, and it was devoid of energy.
Chu Feng grabbed the black thorn and looked back at where the new king was. “Hold on tight, new king. I’ll rescue you within ten days.”
