Chapter 6481: My Grandfather Is Here
“What do you mean?” Wen Xue was perplexed.
“You shouldn’t let your guard down just because we have come this far. You mustn’t enter the caverns with your physical body; you can only do so with your consciousness,” Chu Feng said.
“How do we do that? Cultivators of our level can’t actively project our consciousness from our body yet,” Wen Xue replied.
“You’re right, but there’s a formation here that can aid us in achieving that,” Chu Feng replied.
“Formation? Where? I don’t see it.”
“It’s well-concealed. I’ll need some time to find it as well. Senior, why don’t you cultivate first? I’ll teach you the method once I obtain it,” Chu Feng replied.
He activated Heaven’s Eyes and began surveying the surroundings.
Wen Xue took out the compass covered in noses, but the compass merely pointed at a cavern without providing any clues. She took out another treasure to enhance her observation, but she was still unable to discern anything.
She looked at Chu Feng. The latter was studying their surroundings earnestly while forming hand seals now and then. He didn’t seem to be lying to her.
“Junior, I can’t discern anything at all. I’ll leave it to you.”
Left with no choice, Wen Xue sat down and began cultivating. She didn’t expect Chu Feng’s observation to take days.
...
“Haaaa~” Wen Xue yawned loudly inside the stone realm while stretching her back. “Junior, is it really that tough? It has already been days!”
“I’m almost done. You just have to wait a bit longer,” Chu Feng replied.
“I’m not in a rush, but that trashy grandfather of yours is on his way here, right? He isn’t a pushover. We won’t be a match for him if he gets here,” Wen Xue said.
“Don’t worry, senior. There are multiple paths in the remnant, and each path promises different benefits. Jie Tianran will not take the same path as us,” Chu Feng replied.
“Is that so? Hold on! Doesn’t that mean that you’re missing out on better rewards by following my path?”
It suddenly dawned on Wen Xue that Chu Feng had uncovered clues along the way while following her, but he chose to follow her because what she wanted was on this path, even if it meant missing out on better rewards.
“Our path is the best path,” Chu Feng replied.
“You have a glib tongue,” Wen Xue said with a smile. She felt a surge of warmth in her heart.
Chu Feng didn’t criticize her or make any remarks to stoke her guilt. He didn’t hold a grudge against her despite being at a disadvantage. His tenderness made her happy.
Chu Feng was right. The Ancestral Martial Spiritist Sect’s remnant had many correct paths.
Aside from the stone realm where they were, there was also a stiflingly dark underground realm. This underground realm was made from dark stones, and there were many caverns in there as well. In fact, the number of caverns in the underground realm matched that of the stone realm.
A person was in the underground realm—it was the Seven Realms Sacred Mansion’s Mansion Master, Jie Tianran. He had been here for ten hours now.
“I get it now.”
Jie Tianran was alone here, so his words were naturally intended for the entity inside him.
“What did you decipher?” the voice inside his body asked.
“We don’t have to project our consciousness into the cavern. Most caverns are dead ends; entering them results in immediate disqualification. There are only four correct paths, and we have to enter them in the correct sequence,” Jie Tianran replied.
“The Ancestral Martial Spiritist Sect is just a newborn power founded in the earlier years of this era, yet they dabble in such convoluted bullshit, thinking it elevates their stature. They must not have known that such means are viewed in contempt in our era.
“If they want to pass their legacy down, they can just test the challenger. There’s no need to make things so complicated,” the voice inside his voice scoffed.
Jie Tianran formed a hand seal. Countless glowing runes surfaced from the surrounding stone walls and gathered around him—he was invoking the underground realm’s formation.
He had spent ten hours figuring out how to channel the underground realm’s formation to draw out his consciousness. As the formation activated, his consciousness began pulling away from his body.
It was a success.
But Jie Tianran didn’t head for the cavern right away. Instead, he dispelled the formation, and his consciousness returned to his body.
“The formation works. Let’s go together,” Jie Tianran said. He conjured a formation blueprint with a wave of his sleeves.
“Do you need me to accompany you?” the voice in his body asked.
“I feel more confident with you around.”
“All right.”
The space around Jie Tianran warped. A black world spiritist cloak flew out of his body. This world spiritist cloak was puffed up as if someone were wearing it, but there were no feet beneath the cloak. However, a pair of old eyes gleamed beneath its hood as if a ghost had possessed it.
“Let’s begin,” a voice echoed from the cloak. It was the same voice as the entity inside Jie Tianran.
Jie Tianran and the entity formed hand seals together. The runes surfaced, but this time, they shrouded not just Jie Tianran but that entity as well. Their consciousness drew away from their bodies and headed toward one of the caverns.
Meanwhile, in the stone realm, there was also a formation blueprint floating in the sky. Runes surfaced from the stone walls and shrouded Chu Feng and Wen Xue.
“Woah! Junior Chu Feng, you found a way to draw our consciousness out from our bodies! You’re amazing!” Wen Xue exclaimed in awe. She was only able to draw her consciousness out thanks to the formation blueprint Chu Feng had provided her.
“Let’s get going, senior.” Chu Feng made his way to one of the caverns.
“That’s wrong, junior. It’s that cavern.” Wen Xue pointed to another cavern.
“Senior, we have to follow the sequence,” Chu Feng said.
“Is that so?” Wen Xue murmured before following Chu Feng. She had made up her mind not to doubt Chu Feng’s judgment anymore.
In the meantime, Jie Tianran and the entity entered a barren formation realm. Their consciousness manifested as complete bodies in this realm, though their bodies were transparent like a soul.
Jie Tianran examined the sky, where countless runes reminiscent of birds swiftly darted by. Within these runes contained clues.
“Take it easy. No one is here to compete with you,” the entity said lackadaisically.
Weng!
Two figures suddenly appeared next to them. Jie Tianran and the entity were taken aback.
