Chapter 3031: 3031. Changed Foundation

Many races had been looking back.

This was because the world itself had shown them a lot of ruins isolated, sealed away, or entirely destroyed. The remnants left behind allowed them to find the traces of their races in ancient times. Bits and pieces that explained how they gained intelligence or how they survived.

The lizard man monster species that lacked a key form of intelligence was always related to the dragonkin. Cousins, one that was serving dragons and had grown alongside them and another that lived alone in swamp lands always violent and hungry.

However, it was found that they were somewhat more similar than what was last expected.

Ruins suggested that the dragon blood was added to an ancient salamander species of monster. When the dragons were more violent fighting one another with less acceptance of their intelligent nature. When the salamander monster species could fight dragons at times and even win.

The salamander species of monsters became smaller and many did not even exist nowadays. However, the bloodlines that made them what they were existed in the dragonkin and in the lizard man race.

They were not perfectly related as the people had believed.

These bits of knowledge and proof of that were enlightening and explained why some races held certain values or traditions despite not having a dedicated record for certain things. It also explained in this case why the dragonkin did not really like the lizard man race at all and how the lizard man race was not truly a race and instead was a semi intelligent monster.

For Gil, these memories that appeared, or visions as he said, that appeared in his dreams were something reminiscent of a bloodline memory.

It was something that the demi-humans mentioned often.

They would speak about knowing how to use their different body traits better than they did after sleeping and some would explain that they saw dreams of themselves or others using these traits. Such as a demi-human that had wings or had talons. Using either or would be easier after said dreams.

This was entirely related to their very bloodline remembering that they had these abilities passed down generation to generation. Evidence that they were always connected to the root of who and what they were. Even beyond just the age they were living in now.

Due to this, there were some who would delve in to their dreams and search for these things. It was one way that had already been established to gain certain unique classes or mixed classes related to the traits that the demi-humans possessed.

Even before the world returned to a proper flow and was repaired, they would have some of the most unique systems.

If the bloodline for the high elves was starting to become prevalent enough that they had tapped back in to the memories allowing for their origins and their roots to be remembered in dreams it was major.

Gil had a connection deeper than others so it was expected something like this would happen. But the key to this was that he had told Walker the elves had begun survival by mixing their manas and projectile weapons.

That was their usage of tools to survive.

It was the reason that they had a dual gifted talent known within their race using magic and archers.

As time went on and the elves split because there was a decline in world mana, not that they knew this at the time, and they stopped using magic all the time with archery, they changed. The race split apart and some relied on magic and others relied on archery.

Not everyone was able to meld the two or unify themselves with the nature they lived in. They had changed.

Now they were becoming closer to it all again. Bringing back the high elf techniques.

Doing so had been a major investment of time and effort for Gil. He'd brought back the high elf dagger techniques by unifying and comprehending the dagger styles of all elves. It has been a key to opening the path to reinvigorating the high elf blood left by their first and foremost intelligent predecessor.

Something that many races hadn't even known was possible.

For a predecessor to store literal bloodlines away and access it through marks left on the very world itself was amazing to understand. Also entirely impossible nowadays.

Yet, Gil was doing this and also exploring that bloodline.

"The mana and the physical act for an elf should be entirely one. That was survival for them in the most ancient of times for the entire elf race. The high elf dagger style draws natural mana because it was made to survive and also to resonate with the very aspects of nature around them. What if my arcane archeery did the same?"

"Then you would be able to draw on a lot more mana. It might be why you messed up when you drew in chaotic mana. You were too far ahead. You did the advanced technique before you learned the foundational technique!"

Walker's realization was exactly what Gil was getting at. The pair had already moved to a smaller isolated training ground so that they could begin to understand what paths Gil was grasping at. They also wanted isolation in the short time that they could take a break from paperwork or reports from the others of the elf race.

"I should be looking at the connection between my body, the skills I am using to make magical arrows, and the nature around me." Gil was feeling like he'd changed his entire perspective.

"Do you think this is why you enjoyed making new arrows so much? You had the magic side and the physical side perfectly mixing. Then when we worked together we were finding better and better ways for arrows to unite. Then when you made arrows just out of magic you started to find them weaker or unbalanced. It also caused you issues because it harmed you instead of making an incredibly powerful arrow."

Looking at Walker carefully, Gil gave an affirmative nod. "I also had more strength in that because I am naturally stronger. I just called it weak and then the other elves thought it was strong regardless because I am stronger. We were all fooled by what we assumed was the right direction to learn despite the fact we were on the right path and just missing the point."

Gil removed the most basic of basic wood arrows from his quiver and started to pull at earth mana in the stablest earth elf archer stance. The mana moved and formed around the wooden arrow condensing and hardening.

As it shot through the air and hit the target, the weight caused it to slam the target backward and dent it immensely.

"I did not use additional skills to aim or to enhance the force. I let it fly naturally just by letting the mana flow through my body the way that the stance wishes it to move." He glanced at his body as it stood, "I did the same with the dagger style and never properly the archer style since I saw it as more separated."

Humming softly as he felt the mana and how it did seem smoother and more natural, Walker looked at the target. "If you are doing this with every mana and start to unite the styles, you might be back on track to advance your class. You are still behind but you might be able to do more with it after that."

This wasn't just a guess but a solid idea that would easily be proven. Gil just needed to look back over the stances he learned and what they had in terms of origin. What stances felt like they connected to what naturally present mana. What stances perfectly embodied the elven ways that they came from.

If he did this it would take a lot more time but it would also show the other elves on a path to learn from their history and look ahead how to travel.

It was a path forward for the elf race that had come such a long way. Their methods of isolation were already being erased. Instead, they had cooperation and so much opportunity.

They had become a race at the front of Genesis with the humans, demi-humans, and the dwarven race. Many others saw them as role models. It just depended on how the elves found their way forward from now on.

"I have a feelign we are going to be doing a lot of teaching soon." Gil laughed knowing he had just created a bigger project that would come with a lot of changes to what he had recently been teaching was the best method for the elves to pursue archery.

He also knew that Walker was right by his side and would be taking some of the weight off his shoulders too.
