Chapter 3032. Pushed Away

"Smells funny." Midnight stretched while she approached the mountains moving further and further in front of her.

She didn’t like the deep earth smell right now since it was in her way. She knew very well that she had to cross this distance and the smell was not purely just the earth mana naturally dense within the earth elemental plane.

She also had begun to firmly grasp the fact that the scent of manas was not something simple. While dragons could associate manas with certain smells, for her it was different.

She had a bond with Walker and had an affinity for all elemental manas. Therefore, her interpretation of manas as a whole had become different than normal in interpretations.

She could smell the density of earth mana and how the monsters feeding on it and using it to hide in the expanse of earth that was the earth elemental plane were ahead of her. She knew that they were there and understood that they were something she would need to handle if she intended to remain slow and steady in her dragonkin form.

But that was the important part, if she stayed in her dragonkin form.

As she swapped forms, the entire area seemed to still. The earth mana flowing seemed to avoid her for a moment before Midnight harnessed it and used it to push off from the earth better. The flap of her wings even used earth mana in higher densities to push away the same as some who were beginning to use gravity magic might do.

It was a show of what a predator was. What an intelligent being that studied manas was. What a true dragon champion represents regardless of what species of monster was around or what environment they were in.

"It seems you are trying to move through this area quickly. I will give you a push." The sudden voice and appearance of the true earth sage seemed forced. Like the true sage had been annoyed and was ready to push Midnight back to the world if she was not clearly moving forward with a goal and a lot of strength behind her movements.

In a push of earth, Midnight felt a slam on her back nearly making her draw in her wings as she had taken her full dragon form and prepared her defenses to resist just about any mana.

Yet, her eyes were transfixed on the nest of creatures she was thrust over and past.

"They are resting and I made a promise for them to have peace while their children were born and feeding." the true earth sage was gone, the golem bodies made of earth and sudden change in the mountains entirely gone. Midnight had already massively passed the area where she had just seen the massive creatures.

The bridges to the elemental planes also never stayed in the same places and the elemental planes rotated. Therefore a deeper and more isolated territory like this had been the place people would appear if they had walked through. Yet, everyone else knew not to do such things.

Midnight just lacked the fear to stop when others felt the density of earth mana and would have turned around.

Midnight also had a few tricks to help her. She had learned very well from the rest of the party that being able to be prepared was important.

So, whether or not anyone had cared to ask, the dragon armor that shifted with her but was often seen as useless now that her scales were stronger had some value.

Such as the all around appraisal scrolls made based off of Walker’s all around appraisal could be used with her mana and thoughts.

’Canyon spine serpent

This is a serpent known within the earth elemental planes as a carver of canyons and devourer of mountains. They consume extremely dense earth mana and earth affinity monsters. They are also a monster that can easily cross in to other elemental planes due to their extreme defensive abilities and destructive earth mana affinity.

They are considered trump cards that live for thousands of years if they are able to remain away from others of their own kind or other monsters stronger than themselves. They were forced to combat powerful enemies during the elemental wars and now rest peacefully in semi conscious states.

Due to this they are never seen and are said to be personally protected by the elemental king of earth and the true earth sage so that they continue to rest and recover their species. As such, they are a monster that is never to be bothered by any within the earth elemental plane, even the strongest of the earth elemental plane’s races and monsters would fear them due to the extreme amount of damage they can do if they wish to...’

She sighed and stopped trying to read. She also felt like she shouldn’t have seen that. But her mind wasn’t fixed on trying to fight that monster kept as a trump card. She could tell Walker about it later and her momentum from being flung away from the area had slowed.

The distance she had moved clearly was more than it should but she had felt similar strangeness when the true earth sage had moved them before. The earth elemental plane was part of them so it moved with their will. So, she had been given a helping hand, in a strange way and a rude way, but a helping hand.

This also spoke a bit to the consequences of bothering the true earth sage or earth king. They were stubborn and that showed part of what they were as earth affinity beings. Yet, they also were decisive and powerful enough to push hard enough to make her move away and from where they did not want her with minimal energy.

She still was somewhat weak. Something that she would need to fix sooner than later.

She sniffed the air and felt the bond between herself and Su. she pointed herself in that direction and flapped her wings.

Meanwhile, Su looked up with her eyebrows furrowed.

"I thought I sensed something, sorry to slow us down." She apologized to Walker even though she was the one leading the way and Walker had just slowed her down to examine a small frog called a plane hopping frog. Another strange monster that was very different from what they expected.

A tiny fingernail sized monster that leaped from elemental plane to elemental plane letting the manas alter its body so that it could survive there until it hopped again. It was weak and small but that was how it survived. It was also harmless and more akin to a wanderier without risk. Unique as all things could be.

"It’s fine, I keep stopping us to look at odd things and I even attracted a few monsters while having a sealed light elemental plane with me. But we should keep our senses sharp." Walker knew that Midnight was approaching faster and faster since she wished to see Su and also wanted to be out here with them. He also knew that she had gotten much stronger and was now using that strength in her flight.

He was always impressed with Midnight’s flying speed. She truly proved why even earth dragons could fly if they wished. They were a race that truly had the ability to dominate the sies no matter their affinities. They were born with that ability and owned it.

"I want to see that dual elemental plane you said you sensed. You said it was water and earth, but I think we are missing something with how large it is." Su had a gut feeling and Walker had been trying to get a clearer and clearer image of it. But he was actually struggling since the manas were also spread out like a fog around the elemental plane in question.

This made it hard for him to pin down the actual feeling and also for him to to even get an appraisal on it. The only thing that kept him confident was that the manas were surprisingly balanced and that the chaotic manas around did not cause it harm.

This simply meant it was strong and most likely had some sort of seal or natural resistance to the chaotic manas. Perfectly allowing it to develop out here in the outer elemental planes where there could be many monsters or beings exploring.

The mana shivered as they approached, though. That shiver came as the fog of water and earth mana was blocking Walker’s mana senses even more strongly. Like the earth mana mixed in did not want to bend and was showing the stubborn nature of earth.

But the water itself was shifting more now. Like it was curious. Like it had just seen them and was trying to gauge what they were.

The feeling that Su had also found tis way to Walker.
