Chapter 3045. Accept It

Chapter 3045: 3045. Accept It

"We are far enough away now. I could sense the monsters approaching in a wave. I think it might have been a hive or swarm?" Remey was exactly right. Walker and Gil had the sharpest eyes and they could see the multiple moving creatures.

"I would say that you are right and that those things are exactly why we didn’t see anything following the chaos collector spider." Even the arrow that gil had in his hand was held back since he didn’t want to risk making those little things move toward them.

"I could fight off a few but there might be a million out there." He even made it sound worse the more he stepped back. Not that it was an understatement. He could see the moving shapes and was waiting for Walker to explain with an all around appraisal for the others to know.

’Starved chaos roach swarm

This is a swarm of chaos roaches, small and flighty monsters known for following behind powerful beings and monsters. They do this to consume waste, absorb higher amounts of manas, and they will always find ways to destroy whatever they find by slamming their bodies in to one another and causing the manas they consume to clash in to chaotic mana.

They consume this way since they are a singular swarm. Alone they perish instantly because they need the chaotic mana to keep their bodies from becoming still. They are in a constant state of movement to match the flow of manas that allow the blood in their bodies to flow along with the mana. Therefore, when they stop they die.

They will slam bodies together and kill themselves in explosive, chaotic manas to keep the whole swarm alive. They will also use this to break larger items, materials, and even living monsters or beings to pieces. This way they can consume more.

They are known to leave behind the waste of their own bodies which become extremely valuable to various forms of herbalists, farmers, and natural growing plants of all forms depending on the mana affinity of the dead body.

They are hated since they can even break apart larger elemental planes. But that is rare due to...’

They all looked unhappy with the details.

"It is interesting, without a swarm they don’t even exist. So that means that they developed and adapted to chaotic manas. But that makes their survival dependent on it and they can’t calm themselves or else. I wonder what it is like when they come in to contact with a being powerful enough to stabilize an entire area?"

"I think Su is asking the right questions. If they are swarming, aren’t they deterred or defeated by the strong enough powers out there?" Since Remmey wondered the same, Walker also thought about it.

"I would assume that the are not really bothered with since they might understand that they could be killed easily. But they have to rely on following monsters like the chaos collector spider or they won’t feed enough to keep living."

His mind also went to why this was a monster never capable of growing to become intelligent.

It had a massive weakness in the very reason that it was a threat or a powerful creature. It was always barely on that line of survival or death. Making it clear that it would never have the time to actually grow and develop outside of that singular trait. If it tried it would stop for too long and that would be that.

Before Walker could build on this thought, he moved the manas around them and shielded from a burst of chaotic manas.

"That feels familiar."

"Not in a good way."

"Very bad."

Gil, Onyx, and Midnight spoke out while Remey balled her fists and Walker glared at the distance toward a spiky looking elemental plane that had clashed with a few smaller water elemental planes now disappearing in shards of ice and bubbles of wanting water elemental planes from the collision.

’Spine bear elemental plane

This is an undead elemental plane that encountered a few mixed elemental manas causing the life mana and death mana to become undead mana. The pressure from being smashed between several chaotic elemental planes miraculously did not destroy it and instead allowed it to survive and even absorb those manas.

It moved in unknown patterns through the outer elemental planes as the fighting spine bears within try to strengthen their undead might.

They do not have intelligence but the desire to collect power. However, their bones always rise again due to the dense undead mana within which keeps smaller spine bears forming to fight the larger in an endless cycle.

The plant growth is also of the undead nature along with the various water, earth, and light materials. Dark mana and fire mana are rare within while wind is minuscule, causing a strange balance kept only by the uniqueness of the flow of manas and drifting nature.

The terrain is made of massive spiked bone trees that have been harvested by traveling beings and used as materials. Some undead spine bears have also been taken as pets or materials over time.

No being has tried to capture or use the spine bear elemental plane since they have lacked the mana to properly seal it and keep the undead mana from leaking out in detrimental forms. No powerful intelligent undead or undead intelligent race have ever managed to come across it. If this was the case it would already be used in many other ways such as...’

Walker stopped himself from reading out the uses this had. He was not in to the study of necromancy or any skills related to undead mana. He had held off mostly with this since he knew that it was a rough and potentially deadly study.

He also knew that they all had a bad taste in their mouths even remembering that the immortal king existed or that the immortal chasing race had caused so much harm in ancient times.

Let alone been the catalyst to causing a demon lord appearing and breaking the flow of the world.

"We aren’t going to explore it, are we?" Remey was fine with ignoring it. But she also said it like she didn’t believe she didn’t want to explore it.

"It is drifting and hasn’t been toughed really. It has been harvested and it is large enough to house dangerous unintelligent undead trapped in a loop of fighting and trying to grow. There could be things we learn from it." Walker offered a logical reply. But he also was looking for excuses to just ignore it. Everyone heard that in his tone of voice.

"Brother, you should go to test your strength." Saying what needed to be said, Onyx broke the silence after Walker spoke.

"He’s right." Everyone said all at once other than Walker we were still very apprehensive. But they also said it in a way that proved they would be right behind him to keep his abc protected.

"I wanted an excuse, you know." The long sigh after this ended with Walker sensing that the water elemental planes nearby and the wanting water elemental planes were still degrading.

He chose to absorb some and strengthen the water multi dimensional storage he had. Also improved the central storage more too. Expanding it and being able to spend time later building it up.

"I have the weight of other manas and planes right now, but I can carry more. I just don’t see a place for this in the elemental planes or the world. It just doesn’t fit."

Immediately, Su shook her head at him. "Waler, that is why we are all thinking wrong. We are afraid because undead were a problem in the world that we faced and struggled with. But they exist whether we like it or not. It is part of everything too. So learn from it and let yourself see the place it should be."

"Su has a good point. That undead ridden city still exists in ruins even without something controlling them. They will be there pretty much forever and if we wipe it out undead will appear in older cemeteries and crypts. It just happens sometimes." Gil shrugged trying to make this topic feel lighter than it was. He was being nice and that meant a lot.

"I hate that you’re all right too. But I have to admit that I would not mind breaking some bones with my fist to work through our problems." Remey had the most practical solution to her feelings about the undead.

She would punch them until she accepted that every undead wasn’t the worst being out there for everyone. And eventually she would be able to explain the flow of nature in this way and how undead would always exist in the same way that life was never truly normal.

Death and life didn’t always become a clear cut "normal" thing. Sometimes they were odd and understanding that just took time and different views.
