Chapter 4706: Inspection
Chapter 4706: Inspection
Gu Mo looked at Luo Yu and asked, “Aren’t we going to investigate further?”
“How can we investigate?” Luo Yu retorted. “That aura is so powerful; how could you possibly get close to it? Moreover, if Hell’s Lord is truly inside, we can’t just force our way in, can we? If we accidentally hurt Hell’s Lord, how would we ever explain that to our Master?” Luo Yu glanced at the shimmering barrier. “Let’s go up first and leave a mark here. We’ll wait for Master to decide after we notify her. After all, just because we can’t get close doesn’t mean Master can’t.”
Hearing this logical reasoning, Gu Mo nodded. “Let’s go!”
Luo Yu, holding the water-repellent pearl, and Gu Mo gathered their energy and propelled themselves upward from the seabed, directly towards the surface. Their ascent from the ocean floor to standing on the sea’s surface took approximately half an incense stick’s worth of time.
“I didn’t expect it to be so deep,” Luo Yu exclaimed in surprise once they breached the water. “If it weren’t for the water-repellent pearl, I’m afraid we wouldn’t have been able to enter the deep sea at all.” After they emerged, they glanced around, only to find that the coastline was no longer visible. The sky had completely darkened, making everything pitch black and severely obstructing their vision.
Gu Mo retrieved an airship from his spatial ring, and the two of them promptly jumped aboard. The airship didn’t fly away immediately but instead remained hovering directly above the spot where they had emerged from the sea.
“I wonder if Master has finished refining the medicinal pills,” Luo Yu mused as he took out his communication jade tablet. “I’ll contact Du Fan or Leng Shuang first and tell them what we’ve discovered here.”
“You stay here and keep watch!” Gu Mo instructed. “I’ll go and scout the area to see how far we are from the coast.” With that, he gathered his qi and flew off with his sword, heading in the direction where his divine sense had detected signs of human presence.
An Unexpected Encounter
As night deepened, some cultivators patrolling the sea discovered the illuminated airship. The cultivators exchanged glances, their curiosity piqued, and approached it cautiously.
“This is the East Sea Spirit Realm. We are patrolling the sea on the orders of the Southern Emperor,” a voice full of authority resonated from above. “Who are you? Why has your airship landed in the East Sea Spirit Realm? If you have no important business, please leave immediately.”
Luo Yu, who had been in the midst of communicating with Du Fan and the others, paused his conversation. He put away his communication jade tablet, stepped to the edge of the airship, and calmly addressed the patrolling cultivators. “I am Luo Yu, one of the eight Phoenix Guard leaders under the Ghost Doctor. I am here in the East Sea Spirit Realm on my master’s orders. You can patrol your waters; simply leave me be.”
Hearing that he was one of the esteemed leaders of the Phoenix Guards under the formidable Ghost Doctor, the patrolling cultivators were visibly taken aback. They carefully scrutinized Luo Yu, and after a moment of respectful silence, they bowed deeply. “We did not know that one of the leaders of the Phoenix Guards under the Ghost Doctor was here. Please forgive our offense. However, recently, the East Sea Spirit Realm has been a little unsettled…”
“I know about that. There are quite a few cultivators gathering by the sea,” Luo Yu stated in a calm, authoritative voice, his gaze unwavering as he looked at them. “As sea guards, you should naturally go and deal with it.”
Perhaps it was the clear disparity in their cultivation levels, or simply the weight of his words, but the few cultivators didn’t dare to say anything more under his piercing gaze. Instead, they bowed once more and promptly departed. Once they were a safe distance away, they quickly retrieved their own communication jade tablets and sent the news back to their superiors.
After resting on the airship for a while, Luo Yu saw Gu Mo return. He took a spirit fruit from his interspatial ring and tossed it to him, asking, “How is it? Have you scouted the way?”
