MIGHT AS WELL BE OP

Chapter 1157: Cute

Chapter 1157: Cute

Lucian could be seen standing upon a desert, the sand beneath his feet golden-brown, the heat scorching and burning as the sun bore down mercilessly upon the endless desert.

But Lucian simply ignored all of that. He merely closed his eyes and took in a deep breath, as though adjusting to his return to the outside world once more. Just like Aaaninja and Aura Nova, he had also been in seclusion, and he too had successfully broken through into the Apexus Mana Rank.

’Hey, System. What happened?’ he asked after a moment of silence.

[This is as a result of Anthony using one of his abilities]

His system chimed calmly as it replied.

Just as Aaaninja had the River Of Time for information, Lucian possessed the System for his own.

Lucian fell into deep thought as he tried to guess which of Anthony’s abilities had allowed him to pull off such a ridiculous feat, but after a few moments of consideration, Lucian simply chose to forget about it. After all, Anthony could have merely pushed one of his already broken abilities to an even more absurd level capable of achieving this, or perhaps he had simply obtained another outrageous reward from the sign-in system.

’Hmmm... what is this feeling?’ Lucian thought inwardly as he felt something calling out toward him. The sensation was strange, almost irresistible. He was tempted to answer it, if only to discover what exactly could bypass the System’s protection over both his mind and soul while still managing to reach him.

’Hey, System, you talked about going through something the last time we spoke before I entered seclusion. Are you done yet?’ Lucian asked mentally.

[Ding]

[Affirmative, Host. The Host simply needs to be done with the battle, and the System will immediately begin transferring the necessary information to the Host]

The System replied without missing a beat.

Hearing this, Lucian immediately smirked, happiness coursing through his veins. Although he had won the last battle between himself and Aaaninja, Lucian didn’t dare let his guard down. He knew that Time Celestial had a ridiculous habit of becoming monstrously stronger after every single defeat.

The man had done it twice now, it was a habit at this point.

Lucian understood very clearly that his current breakthrough into the Apexus Mana Rank wasn’t enough. He needed whatever the System had deciphered in order to close the widening gap between them. After all, Aaaninja had literally managed to comprehend a fractured portion of the Concept Of Time itself, something so absurd that even Lucian still found it hard to process completely.

As for why Lucian was so confident that whatever the System possessed could close the gap, the answer was simple. If the System couldn’t transfer the necessary information to him at this moment and instead needed him to be completely relaxed and entirely out of combat, then it meant that whatever boost awaited him would be unimaginably immense.

As Lucian remained lost in thought, his senses suddenly tingled sharply as he sensed someone sweeping their perception across his position. His head snapped toward that direction instantly, his gaze crossing millions of kilometres before finally landing upon Aura Nova.

Lucian paused for a brief moment as he stared at her. Although she wasn’t flaring her presence or releasing any overwhelming aura, Lucian could already tell that his advice to her had ultimately birthed a monster in every possible sense of the word.

Lucian couldn’t help but sigh softly as he wondered who exactly the one possessing a System truly was here. He had defeated Aaaninja, only for him to take yet another massive step forward upon his path. He had defeated Aura Nova, only for her to complete her evolution through that very defeat. It genuinely felt as though everyone around him was rapidly closing in, all seeking to reclaim the losses they had suffered at his hands only a few weeks ago.

’Hey, System, you better have something good,’ Lucian communicated mentally once more.

[You have no idea, Host]

The System replied, its tone seemingly urging Lucian to look forward to what was coming.

Lucian nodded slightly before allowing his senses to expand outward once more as he immediately decided to search for Veronica, his girlfriend, whom he had left alone to train before entering closed-door seclusion. His eyes eventually landed upon her several thousand kilometres away, fighting desperately for her life with nothing but a bow and arrow in hand.

Lucian observed her quietly for a few moments with a faint smile resting upon his face. He didn’t rush to help her. No, he simply allowed her to continue doing her own thing, carving her way through every obstacle before her. Besides, with the new talent she had received from the Talent Enhancement Pill, she was improving across every single parameter at a terrifying speed, almost as though she were on steroids.

Since he was done confirming everything, even verifying the locations of his parents as well, Lucian finally shifted his attention toward his immediate surroundings. He could sense the immense presence of Chaos Energy and Faith Energy permeating the atmosphere. His eyes moved from one Angel to another before shifting toward several unknown creatures, then finally landing upon a few Demons he couldn’t even be bothered counting.

"You seem to have quite the talent for ignoring people," one of the Demon Monarchs spoke as her overwhelming presence bore down upon the entire desert.

"And why exactly would I acknowledge a bunch of corpses?" Lucian replied with a flat, indifferent expression.

Although he still hadn’t received whatever boost, knowledge, or power the System had deciphered for him, it didn’t mean he was helpless without it. He was Lucian Darkheart after all. These people before him were simply no match for him regardless of their numbers.

"Hoo!!!! It’s been over a million years since a Human dared to speak to me in such a challenging tone," the Demon stated, her Chaos Energy already beginning to stir violently as she prepared to crush Lucian where he stood.

The very next moment, her Chaos Energy erupted outward explosively as the Demon Monarch immediately activated a skill.

Gravitational Well

Lucian felt it in real time. The gravity within the desert sky multiplied by the thousands instantly, the surrounding sand dunes shattering apart violently while the earth beneath his feet screamed and split open like a watermelon being crushed beneath unimaginable pressure. Yet Lucian remained entirely unbothered as he tanked everything using nothing but his bare body alone. His physique had already become far too ridiculous to be restricted by such a level of Gravitational Manipulation.

"Cute... but sadly, not enough," his voice dropped like a guillotine descending upon the world itself.

But to the utter shock of everyone present, the Lucian who had been standing before them vanished entirely. He now stood directly behind them with the severed head of the female Demon clutched within his hand while her lifeless body plummeted downward from the sky.

Lucian crushed the skull instantly without the slightest change in expression as he spoke once more, "Hoo!!! She didn’t even possess any form of resurrection ability prepared beforehand... now that’s new."

His words echoed directly into everyone’s ears.

The remaining Angels, Demons, and members of several unknown races from the Divinora Galaxy immediately took a step backward, their figures blurring out of place as they instinctively attempted to create distance between themselves and him. Lucian didn’t bother chasing them. He could close the distance between them whenever he wished.

"Didn’t you all want to attack me? I’m right here now, so why exactly are you running?" he asked, amusement flickering faintly within his eyes as he observed their speed.

It was honestly funny to him. Only a few seconds ago, they had all acted lofty and arrogant, behaving as though they stood above everything else in existence. Yet now, the moment true danger appeared before them, they were already retreating without hesitation.
