Chapter 1282: The Sleeping Hollow’s Restriction

Although it sounded harsh, it had to be known that various Factions, Clans, and Organizations would simply take a hundred percent of the gains without leaving a single thing behind. So, in a sense, the Null Sect was more than generous, and on top of that, the ninety percent they took would be converted into an equal value of Contribution Points for the Above Disciples.

Although, at the end of the day, Contribution Points couldn’t match the true worth of those treasures, none of them could do anything about it.

All in all, the Null Sect was better than every other Organization out there.

But that wasn’t the only thing in the Contract. It also stated that none of them could steal, hide, use, or maneuver any reward through any known or unknown magical method, physical method, or whatever method they might possess. However, the Null Sect had also left a section stating that if a reward had to be used within The Underground Tomb and couldn’t be taken out, then they were free to use it.

The section was indeed smart. After all, there were places, such as magical pools where simply bathing in one could restructure a person’s entire body, purging every impurity within it. Such a reward simply couldn’t be taken out of The Underground Tomb and had to be used on the spot.

Lastly, the Null Sect had also included a section stating that, in the event they found themselves in a losing battle that guaranteed their deaths, they were allowed to use any treasure they had found to boost their powers just enough to defeat their enemies. After all, if a disciple died, then the entire loot they had obtained would be lost to their opponent.

It was better for them to use some of it to strengthen themselves, then return with the rest instead of losing everything. Although the section specifically stated that they were only to use enough to boost their powers just enough to defeat their enemies. This way, any greedy person wouldn’t simply use all the rewards and loot they had gathered under the guise of being in danger, thereby taking advantage of the clause.

But by using any of that loot in battle, the disciple automatically forfeited the ten percent the sect had originally granted them, which was only fair, as one couldn’t have their cake and eat it too. The Null Sect wasn’t running on charity funds, after all.

’It seems the Null Sect is more generous than I thought,’ Anthony mused to himself, as he was certain that some Organizations would never grant their own disciples the right to use a resource within The Underground Tomb.

Anthony didn’t have an issue with the Contracts. He simply shifted his eyes toward the other disciples, who seemed to still be reading through every line as though searching for some sort of loophole they could exploit.

After a few minutes, The Punisher asked, "Done?"

The Above Disciples looked at him, then nodded their heads as they had no issues with the Contract. They couldn’t help but smile a little, as they all understood that the Null Sect still wished them the best even while they were within the Tomb.

Without a shred of hesitation, they all signed it. As for placing their souls on the line, nobody was bothered. After all, if you intended nothing sketchy, then your soul was perfectly safe. They weren’t the first people to sign such Contracts.

With that, Null Nathaniel continued speaking, "I know each of you is a genius in your own right and has the right to be arrogant and prideful about it. But one must know when to be prideful and when not to be," his eyes remained on the disciples. "So, if there are any differences between any of you, grudges, hatred, or whatever else, I advise you to put them aside and work together. Once you leave the Null Sect and the city, leave whatever it is behind, after all, as you all know, you can’t trust anyone who isn’t from the Null Sect," he added as he stressed the matter.

He and the Core Elders had gone as far as adding a clause to the Contract stating that disciples were forbidden from harming one another, whether directly or indirectly. After all, they knew that hatred would always exist between disciples, and since they couldn’t eliminate one another within the sect, places like The Underground Tomb became the perfect burial ground for one’s enemies.

Yes, no Above Disciple had openly shown hatred toward another, but one didn’t need hatred to kill another person. Greed and countless other motives were also on that list.

The Above Disciples simply nodded and said nothing. They weren’t stupid enough to refuse to work together because of pride. Only an idiot would tread alone in a place like The Underground Tomb when they had the option of moving with others. The best part was that they understood one another’s strengths to an almost perfect degree. After all, they had been fighting one another for years over the Above Disciple rankings, meaning nobody here was dead weight that needed to be carried. Everyone could pull their own weight, making the idea of working together far more appealing.

Seeing them nod, The Sword Ruler added, "That would be all from me," his tone carrying an unmistakable sense of finality.

The Second Core Elder, The Slumbering Storm, stepped forward with a flat expression and an almost lazy tone as she spoke next.

"Since we don’t know whether The Underground Tomb is going to separate all of you or allow you to remain together, it’s still best to be cautious," she stated. The moment her soft tone echoed through the hall, a thin golden silk thread appeared in her hand. She flicked her wrist forward, and the next moment, the delicate thread shot toward them and wrapped itself around their wrists as it seemingly bound everyone together.

"This is a Saint Grade Artifact. I could have used something better, but as you all know, The Underground Tomb doesn’t allow any artifact that is beyond your own power scale," she explained.

Indeed, people couldn’t walk into The Underground Tomb with an artifact that exceeded their own power. For example, no one could simply enter with an artifact, weapon, or even a pill of the Genesis Grade. After all, nobody among those entering The Underground Tomb from the entire Grand Region had reached that level of power.

"The artifact’s function is simple. It manipulates space to keep all of you together since you’re bound by it. But because all Realms are unpredictable, expect it to fail. However, if it doesn’t, then consider yourselves lucky," she stated as she met their gazes. "But that’s not its only function. In the event that it actually fails to keep all of you together, the thread will trace a path to the nearest person’s location, meaning you can simply move in their direction the moment you arrive at a different location," she concluded.

Her eyes remained on them for a moment before she stepped back, having finished explaining her part.

Everyone’s gaze fell upon the thread for a moment before they nodded. This thread could help them in a great many ways. If an enemy was chasing them, they could flee in the direction of someone like Tory, who was the strongest among them. If they were injured, they could move toward one of those who had Comprehended the Law Of Light or other healing Laws.

So, even if they didn’t end up working together immediately, it would still prove helpful in a great many ways.
