Chapter 1283: Pills
Chapter 1283: Pills
As The Slumbering Storm was done speaking, she stepped back as she had nothing more to do or say. Whether everyone actually worked together or not had nothing to do with her; it was their lives they were throwing away, not hers. Although it would affect the sect that they would lose people they had trained and cultivated for years, geniuses could always be replaced.
But... although they said they couldn’t guarantee the Above disciples’ survival, they had hope in their hearts. Why? Well, simply because Anthony was there. They didn’t make him the group leader or anything of the sort, but with the absurd feats he had displayed throughout this past week, they couldn’t help but believe that Anthony could save everyone.
Anthony’s eyes shifted towards Null Nathaniel, who sat upon his throne with the demeanor of a true Sect Master. The man stared at Anthony for a moment, then simply nodded. Although he said nothing to Anthony, he too harbored the same hope. But he would never literally say such things to Anthony. After all, while Anthony’s feats might be absurd, who knew what absurd thing lay within The Underground Tomb? He couldn’t just tell Anthony to protect everyone and bring them back; that would simply be turning Anthony into a babysitter.
The Deceiver Of Laws stepped forward next. He snapped his fingers as various bottles with small Runes etched upon them appeared, then he began to speak.
"Although we don’t exactly know what is within the Tomb, we can account for things like poison, toxins, and the rest," he stated as the various bottles floated towards each disciple.
Each bottle contained various kinds of pills, each one possessing different effects, such as neutralizing any poison, counteracting certain toxins, boosting regeneration, or simply stopping bleeding. Some simply had to be taken, and the disciples would feel as though they had eaten, leaving them neither hungry nor thirsty. After all, nobody knew the time difference between The Underground Tomb and the outside world, or even if there would be any time difference at all. Although the sect could have simply given them food, they didn’t bother; pills were better, more convenient, and far faster.
Some also boosted their combat power but drained stamina in return, while others caused temporary blindness after use, but at least they would survive. All in all, the Null Sect was preparing for every possible scenario. They knew they couldn’t possibly prepare for everything, but they could only try their very best.
After handing out the pills, The Deceiver Of Laws stepped back as he didn’t have much more to say.
The Decipherer Of The Heavens stared at the Above disciples, sighed, then shook his head as he didn’t really have anything to say. But after thinking about the matter for a couple of seconds, he simply decided to offer a piece of advice that any of them could ignore if they wanted.
"I don’t have anything particularly profound to add, but just in case, carry some ordinary clothes and a mask if you want," he began to speak. "We have various enemies, ranging from other Sects to Clans and Organizations. Once they see the Above disciples’ robes, they will immediately target you just to settle scores. But with a disguise, you can at least avoid wasting energy on these random people who wouldn’t yield any reward from the onset," he said in a calm, sagely tone.
The Above disciples nodded as his words made perfect sense. Each of them had their own personal enemies who were also geniuses outside, some of whom would be entering The Sleeping Hollow. It would be a complete waste to spend time that could instead be used searching for treasures and opportunities on someone else.
If they wanted to settle any scores, it would be a few days later, when they were sure that everyone had at least gotten enough time to obtain something worthwhile within the Tomb.
But they wouldn’t be changing their clothes now. They would only change them the moment they entered The Sleeping Hollow.
Anthony had already decided not to change his clothes or cover his face. He didn’t particularly have any enemies. As for the Vanishing Reapers, he was looking forward to encountering them instead of hiding from them. Although it was a shame that the strongest they could send was only at the Star Monarch Realm due to The Sleeping Hollow’s restrictions.
The Punisher, who had been quiet for a while, spoke again. "If there are any treasures or great artifacts that you have with you which you can’t carry into The Sleeping Hollow, you can entrust them to us. We will keep them until you return, and if you don’t return, they will be kept by the sect," the man stated with a flat expression. "If you don’t trust the sect, you can sign a Contract with the sect to ensure they are returned to you," he added without any change in expression.
After The Punisher spoke, the Above disciples immediately frowned. Nobody loved entrusting their treasures and secrets to anyone, not even their own families, as anyone could kill you for something that was simply too valuable to pass up.
What made them frown even more was The Punisher mentioning Contracts if they wanted them. If they opened their mouths and said that they wanted Contracts, they might appear as though they didn’t trust the sect enough to leave their treasures in its care.
They could have simply left their resources at their cottages back in the Above disciple area, but what if their own personal servants stole their treasures and immediately fled from the sect? That wouldn’t be the first time such a thing had happened; loyal servants who had enjoyed countless benefits under their genius masters suddenly escaping with their treasures.
After all, the servants had seen a one-in-a-trillion opportunity, and they had taken it. It was only logical. It was their chance to break free from the fate of being servants and instead become their own masters.
While someone might claim they were loyal, you could never truly know where that loyalty ended.
And as for the sect, they would never expend resources to chase after a mere servant. Why would they? They gained nothing from doing so. After all, servants could simply quit whenever they wanted; they weren’t being held hostage.
Although one might argue that these Above disciples should simply sign a Contract with their servants to prevent anything from happening, alas, the Null Sect didn’t allow any disciple to sign a Contract with a servant. After all, the servants worked for the Sect, not for the disciples.
Of course, some had still gone ahead and broken such rules. After all, how could the Core Elders and Sect Masters know if they weren’t there to witness it?
But with people like The Punisher, The Deceiver Of Laws, and The Decipherer Of The Heavens, who were all deeply attuned to their respective Laws and had connected them to the rules of the sect, the moment any rule of the Sect was broken, the three of them instantly knew as their Laws passively notified them.
So, at the end of the day, unless you possessed some artifact capable of shielding you from such detection, you simply couldn’t hide from those three.
