MIGHT AS WELL BE OP

Chapter 1287: Chu Feng

Chapter 1287: Chu Feng

Watching Lora Vake walk away, the others couldn’t help but consider the matter, even Jerry himself. Although some of them were personal disciples to a Core Elder, it didn’t mean they wouldn’t form more connections, as one connection was never enough. One could never have more than enough connections. In the cultivation world, every single connection could become valuable when one least expected it, especially when entering dangerous places like The Sleeping Hollow itself alone.

Lin’s eyes flashed as he couldn’t help but consider something. Just because the Sect Master had said they should work together didn’t necessarily mean that they were going to work together. After all, in the Contract, it had only said they shouldn’t attack or be involved in any attack related to a fellow disciple. Which meant that even if Anthony could help or something, he could just choose to ignore them.

After all, from the spar they had seen, he was a merciless guy who didn’t go easy on anyone who challenged him. That much they knew, and as for any aspect of his personality, they didn’t know, as this was even the third time they were seeing him.

"Well, I guess if I’m in a bind, I would just run towards Tory," Hillary mused. He knew he was weaker than Tory, so there was no reason not to run towards Tory.

"Don’t jinx us, man," Tory stated. "We might end up separated because of your words, while I might be strong, this is one of those inheritance realms where even the strongest geniuses can be killed," he sighed. "So don’t be surprised if you see me running for my own life or sprinting towards Anthony’s location in haste," he concluded with a small laugh.

But he knew, deep down, he wasn’t joking. Once he saw anything he couldn’t defeat, he would make a run for it and head for Anthony’s direction until he shook off whatever was after him. Only an idiot was arrogant within a secret realm.

"It’s funny to see a cultivator believing in jinxing themselves and people," Hillary replied with a chuckle.

Tory rolled his eyes as he replied, "You don’t believe in jinxes, but you believe in luck and Providence, sounds hypocritical to me."

Hillary simply shook his head, choosing not to say more, as Tory’s words were indeed true.

"Do you guys think this is one of those trap inheritance realms where old monsters take over geniuses’ bodies?" Jane, who was now sitting on the deck, asked.

At her words, all eyes immediately flashed with a bit of fear, terror, and panic.

They had all heard the stories and read records about Old Monsters from ancient generations taking over the bodies of geniuses through Soul Manipulation or some other method. Every Above disciple knew that when they returned from The Sleeping Hollow, checking the loot would be one of the Sect’s least worries, as they would all be interrogated, and with people like The Decipherer Of The Heavens and The Deceiver Of Laws, only those who truly touched the realm of Pseudo-Higher Entity could somehow bypass the interrogation of these two, or if the Old Monster that took over their body possessed some artifact that shielded them.

None of them here wanted to be pawns in some cultivator’s game, even if they had reached the peak of the Galaxy. They would rather die than hand over their bodies. But alas, there was no way to know if the realms were a trap or not, as various Organizations could only continue sending in their disciples.

It would have been somewhat weird if the Hellinder Realm existed for billions of years, and some of these Ancient Organizations existed for over a million years, yet still didn’t know that the bodies of their geniuses were being possessed.

In the past, many Organizations welcomed these Olden Monsters with open arms, after all, no one in their right minds would choose a greenhorn genius over an Old Monster that had lived for thousands and millions of years.

But alas, such Organizations normally faced calamities and ended up being destroyed. Not by the Heavens or anything of the sort, but by the hands of these reincarnated beings. After all, these reincarnated beings always went around seeking trouble or tried to get revenge on the ones who killed or wronged them. Hence, them getting destroyed by such another powerhouse.

Organizations that already had their own Old Monsters that were still living didn’t need some random Old Monster who wasn’t loyal to them within their nest.

So, this was the reason why Organizations found and killed any reincarnator they found.

Although none of the Above disciples gathered said it, they all suspected that someone with the title Lover Of Death definitely possessed various ways to cheat death. And with such a person, they wouldn’t do the same regular taking over the body or something like that, but might employ something unique.

’Alas, the road of cultivation is filled with risk and uncertainty,’ Tory thought to himself as he shook his head with a sigh.

Even if they knew the danger and suspected something, they could never back out. Even if they wanted to, the sect wouldn’t agree. They could only wish they would all survive.

"I wish us all good luck," Hillary spoke again.

Tory shot him a glance as he spoke, "Bruh!!!"

Hillary shook his head as he turned and spoke, "Superstition much."

Lawrence, who had been silent, spoke, "I once read of a disciple from an Ancient Sect who was able to overcome the soul that was about to take over her body, then she digested the soul of her enemy, gaining the soul’s combat prowess and experience and even comprehending Laws, although at a lower percentage," her tone calm.

Lin’s eyes shifted to Lawrence as he asked, "Does the record you read state such a method?"

Lawrence shook her head as she replied, "It doesn’t, obviously, but after the girl did that, many tried following her steps, but none succeeded even after thousands of tries and sacrificing souls for the ritual. But it seems the girl herself possessed immense Providence and might have entered a bit of a trance at that moment," she explained calmly.

Lin and the rest of the disciples could only give up. Everyone had tried and failed, surely there was something that happened and acted as a catalyst that allowed the girl to succeed. After all, nobody could replicate the exact same conditions in which she did it.

Another disciple, Chu Feng, who had been silent up until this point, asked, "You all might have failed to consider something."

"Which is?" Lawrence asked.

Chu Feng replied with a small smile, "What if that Olden Soul had indeed succeeded in devouring the girl’s soul, but simply posed as the girl, then proceeded to lie about what had happened and such, which could be a good reason why everyone else failed."

At his words, everyone stayed silent as they didn’t know what to say to that. Surely those schemers from that time in the past must have considered this, right?

Chu Feng shook his head as he turned and walked away, leaving them to consider the possibility.
