Chapter 1288: Walls
Chapter 1288: Walls
Everyone retired to their various deckhouses as they all chose one at random, as various rooms existed within the ship, each of them having their own heavy thoughts. But instead of sleeping, Jane’s question and Chu Feng’s words only made them continue their Law comprehension within the coming ten days as though that would make a difference.
None of them could completely shake off the possibility that they might encounter something far more dangerous than they had initially anticipated.
They who had planned to rest during the duration of the journey to the River Of Night Territory couldn’t rest anymore. The thought of potentially having their bodies taken over by an Old Monster was enough to keep even the calmest among them alert.
Chaos Betroth sat in silence as she watched it all unfold, and indeed, the disciples were right. Once any of them left The Sleeping Hollow, the Sect would immediately begin to monitor them. But what they didn’t know was that that surveillance started with her, as she wasn’t just here to escort them and make sure they were safe. Her presence served another purpose that none of them had even considered.
She would simply report her findings to the other Core Elders and Sect Master when she returned, and they would proceed from there. Chaos Betroth smiled in silence as she stared into the distance, her vision crossing the distances as though she could see the River Of Night Territory that was millions of kilometers away from where she was. Her expression remained calm, but there was a faint anticipation hidden within her eyes.
’I wonder when the Vanishing Reapers are going to attack,’ she thought to herself.
She had volunteered for this particular expedition precisely because of this. While it may be good to kill Anthony within The Sleeping Hollow, wouldn’t it be better to attack during their journey, wipe out the Above disciples, and a Core Elder in one fell swoop? It was an opportunity that was simply too good to ignore, especially if the enemy truly intended to make a move against the Null Sect.
It was an irresistible deal.
She shook her head and walked towards her own deckhouse.
The days passed, and during these days, various flying Monsters and Beasts attacked. But Chaos Betroth couldn’t bother herself with such weaklings. So the Above disciples were made to take turns fighting them one after the other, some together. And during these times, some of them spoke to Anthony once in a while after what Lora Vake had said earlier, some of them descending from their high horses a bit. The interactions remained simple, but they gradually became less awkward as the journey continued.
Of course, Anthony had heard Lora Vake’s words about building connections, it was impossible not to hear with his insane senses and Sense Dome. But did he have anything against it? Not really. Some friendships might begin for gains, but turn into genuine ones down the line, and Anthony didn’t mind these types of friendships.
After all, within the Hellinder Realm, people mostly became friends with benefits... ahem... friends for benefits.
But of course, Anthony wasn’t going to fulfill some insane request or anything of the sort. He was only going to do things like intervening if any of them were going to die and that’s if they were around or beside him. Aside from stuff like that, then it was above their friendship grade, as only people like Aaaninja, Kingsley, Lucian, and Aura Nova could make absurd requests and he would try his best to help.
Soon, the entire ten days passed, and they arrived at the territory of the River Of Night. Anthony could see a huge wall that stretched hundreds of meters into the sky as it stood gallantly, its enormous structure making it obvious that the territory wasn’t an ordinary place.
And to Chaos Betroth’s disappointment, neither The Vanishing Reapers nor even a single enemy made a move against them during the entire journey.
As they drew closer, Chaos Betroth waved her hand, and the next moment, the entire ship vanished underneath their feet as they began to plummet from the sky. The moment they reached the ground, she waved her hand again as two horses and a carriage appeared from her space ring, with them automatically sitting within the carriage.
Anthony’s eyes shifted towards the space ring on Chaos Betroth’s finger. This was his first time seeing a space ring that could store life. He wasn’t the only surprised one, as the other disciples were also surprised.
But such things were exceedingly rare, as it needed Rune Formation Masters who comprehended the Law of Life, or at least someone who did, to make such a space ring. One could imagine its cost. Even within the Hellinder Realm, such treasures were clearly not something ordinary cultivators could casually possess.
Lora Vake, who was sitting opposite Anthony, spoke as she saw him stare at the huge wall.
"Some territories shield themselves with huge walls like these; some possess domes," she explained, as she was used to sights like these, having gone on various missions. "Of course, some sects don’t possess any dome or barrier or anything of the sort that protects them, just like how our Null City and Sect has nothing protecting us and just landmass," she added.
Anthony nodded his head as he simply watched as they joined the queue. Although the Null Sect possessed six beings at the Progenitor Rank; the Sect Master and the Five Core Elders, they weren’t a top-tier Organization, nor were they fully that famous throughout the entire Sathor Grand Region.
Their horses rolled forward ever so slowly. Anthony gazed to the side as he watched some Organizations, Sects, and Families simply fly over the wall.
Anthony couldn’t help but shake his head with a smile. This was the first time he was standing in line for almost anything. Due to his status back on Blue Planet and the entire Acarnis Galaxy, he never waited for anything.
’I guess the Founder’s reputation isn’t high enough,’ he mused. ’And those who are flying over the wall must be those who have at least an Eternal Apex within their Organization,’ Anthony stated.
Anthony, Chaos Betroth, and the rest of the Above disciples waited for over two hours before they even got close to the gate that led to the territory, and that was with the security at the gate being extremely swift with their duties, which spoke volumes of the number of people who were flooding the place.
Clearly, the River Of Night Territory had attracted an extraordinary number of cultivators from across the Sathor Grand Region.
Anthony suddenly noticed Chaos Betroth wearing a large smile as she gazed in a particular direction. Anthony became curious as he wondered what made this mad woman smile, so he followed the direction of her sight. And there, sitting on the high wall, was a woman that Anthony hadn’t even noticed before when he looked at the wall.
Anthony’s Thought Conception activated as he simply willed the cultivation rank of the woman. The moment he did, his eyes narrowed at the information he received.
Eternal Apex; a Pseudo-Higher Entity being.
