Chapter 1312: Honest And Trustworthy Demon

After a moment, Anthony asked, "How did you die?"

He wanted to know what had killed an Eternal Apex. Although the corpse being here might make it seem as though The Lover of Death was the one who killed Silent Annihilator, Anthony still wanted to be sure.

Silent Annihilator rose as he replied, "I don’t even know... One moment I was exploring the Unknown Regions and Lands, the next moment I suddenly fell forward and died," his eyes narrowing.

His words made Anthony simply remain silent. He had read from the book he had created through Thought Conception that Eternal Apexes usually died whenever they stepped into the Unknown Regions, but for Silent Annihilator to die without even knowing what had killed him was kind of bone-chilling.

Besides, it was kind of amusing and ironic that someone whose title was Silent Annihilator was silently annihilated.

Kaxrak wasn’t exactly surprised. He stayed silent as though he had heard of such deaths countless times.

"But with this body, I can explore the Unknown Regions and Lands without fear or caution," Silent Annihilator spoke as he gazed at his hand. He instinctively understood he now possessed an immortal body.

The Arachne didn’t seem to want to remain in his Shadow Form and instantly used one of his skills to shift into his normal human appearance. He now stood no different from his corpse that was on the bed.

Anthony didn’t speak about Silent Annihilator’s change in form; he didn’t particularly care. His eyes shifted towards the corpse on the bed. The corpse of an Eternal Apex was an enormous reward. No one would even dare sell one or auction it off if they had one. After all, with the corpse of an Eternal Apex, one could refine it like an alchemist would into pills, elixirs, and many more things.

And the gains from consuming such pills and elixirs would be tremendous. Of course, weak people like the Above Disciples couldn’t even consume such things, as only people like the Inner Elders and Core Elders of the Null Sect could consume such things and live.

Anthony couldn’t help but smile. His Ancestor and the Core Elders had said that they would be compensated for whatever treasure they brought back. He couldn’t help but wonder what sort of compensation the sect had that could even match the corpse of an Eternal Apex.

Silent Annihilator said nothing. He already knew what his corpse would be used for. But at the moment, he didn’t particularly care. If he still had his soul and it could be put back into his body, he would care. But with his current body, his previous body was simply a limitation.

Anthony waved his hand, and the corpse vanished into his system inventory.

’My luck seems pretty good, a Genesis Grade Trident, and now the corpse of an Eternal Apex,’ he mused to himself. ’Besides, it seems The Lover of Death found the corpse when he was exploring the Unknown Regions,’ he concluded.

His sky-blue eyes shifted towards the Demon, Kaxrak, as he spoke, "I’m extremely satisfied with the reward."

Kaxrak simply nodded at Anthony’s words. There was no one who wouldn’t be satisfied. Deep down, Anthony was kind of curious about what the rewards for the other Challenge Modes were, but he didn’t ask. Even if he knew, there was nothing he could do with the information.

His eyes shifted towards Silent Annihilator, tempted to order the man to take on the role of a Core Elder within the Null Sect. That way, their reputation, amongst other things, would skyrocket. But of course, Silent Annihilator would have to change his appearance, as Anthony didn’t want the man’s enemies declaring war on the Null Sect and stuff like that.

’I will conclude on that later,’ Anthony thought as he decided to drop the matter for now.

Although he could just wait for the Core Elders to break through into the Eternal Apex using Silent Annihilator’s corpse as a booster, he knew that even that would take a couple of years, unless they had some sort of Time-Dilation Chamber, which they would definitely have.

"I will guide you to the outer gate," Kaxrak spoke as Anthony took the corpse.

The outer gate referred to the Abyssal Maw, which led to the next domain within The Sleeping Hollow.

Anthony’s eyes shifted towards Silent Annihilator, who simply nodded, then vanished from where he stood as he went to the Shadow World. With that, Kaxrak led Anthony out of the room and the building as they stepped out of the portal.

Normally, Kaxrak wasn’t supposed to show Anthony the Abyssal Maw leading to the next place, as Anthony was supposed to find it himself, but after the display Anthony had put on, Kaxrak decided to lead Anthony to the outer gate himself. After all, he was sure Anthony would have still found it in under a couple of minutes or seconds, so it made no difference.

Anthony followed behind the Demon as he led him through mountains of corpses and an ocean of blood before they finally arrived at what seemed to be an inconspicuous dead tree with a huge hole carved into its bark.

Anthony stared at the tree for a moment. He wouldn’t lie, he had thought that it would be the same Abyssal Maw carved into the ground, but it seemed it was different this time.

"Your presence here was a breath of fresh air, Null Anthony," Kaxrak stated with a small smile as he stared at Anthony. It was his way of saying goodbye, something he had never said to a genius that had reached the Home of the Retired.

Anthony smiled as he replied, "And you are the most honest and trustworthy Demon I’ve ever met."

Kaxrak didn’t say anything. His mind went back to the death count of Demons attached to Anthony’s name. He simply shook his head with a smile as he understood that his kind were anything but trustworthy; he was simply different since birth.

Although Anthony didn’t know, and Kaxrak never said it, Kaxrak was an Ascendant like Anthony, a Demon from a different Lower Galaxy who had pledged his allegiance to The Lover of Death upon Ascension.

Anthony didn’t speak anymore. He simply dove into the large hole carved into the tree without wasting any more time. Anthony felt gravity pull him downwards for a couple of seconds, then suddenly, gravity seemed to reverse as he was pulled upwards.

Anthony’s body shot out from another Abyssal Maw that was carved into the ground. The moment he appeared, the Abyssal Maw vanished, as it only seemed to appear whenever someone was coming from the other side, and the Abyssal Maw couldn’t be used to travel back to the other side the person had just left.

Anthony appeared in what seemed to be a forest, and surprisingly, this place wasn’t dark like the other places he had visited. It was green, vibrant, and the air was fresh. The wind and breeze were gentle and caressed people’s bodies with a certain ease. Above, a normal sun hung as it bathed the entire forest in its golden glow.

To Anthony, this was abnormal. After all, this place was the opposite of death; it screamed life.

The Ocean had poisonous oxygen that could kill and a decaying force that decayed clothes. The Home of the Retired had the Law of Death, Law of Blood, Law of Killing, and Law of Murder humming through it.

But here... this place was different. Anthony couldn’t help but guess and wonder about the reason for the sudden change.
