Chapter 1322: A Demonstration
Chapter 1322: A Demonstration
Nature’s Savant stood with his finger deep through Anthony’s skull and brain. The reason he had been able to catch Anthony off guard was simply because he had been playing dead. He had woken up from his own "coma" before Anthony, and had chosen not to make a direct move, hoping to catch his opponent off guard, and it worked.
His brain had already finished processing the insane amount of information that NOTHINGNESS had flooded him with. As an Eternal Apex cultivator, it was only normal that he possessed more mental processing capacity than Anthony.
Nature’s Savant’s expression finally calmed, his Law Of Nature and his title as Nature’s Savant, which boosted his Laws, had kept him pushing until this moment. His fingers finally balled together to squash Anthony’s head once and for all, a flicker of pity could be seen in his eyes, not because he pitied Anthony, but because he couldn’t catch him alive to extract all the information he wanted and also find out what made this Ascendant so special.
But he didn’t feel pity for long, to him, just this Unknown Realm they had fought in was already an immense gain. Although his Law Of Nature had already reached the Embodiment stage, with this Unknown Realm, he could try comprehending other Laws he had resonance with.
His fingers balled into a fist, and in that moment, Anthony’s head exploded into a gore of blood, bones, brain matter, and skull, splattering against Nature’s Savant’s body and face.
But the man didn’t care, he simply wiped the blood from his face with the sleeves of his white robe as he stared at Anthony’s headless corpse for a moment. He sighed, then turned away, a flicker of satisfaction showing on his face as it had been ages since he had fought to this extent.
The moment he turned away from Anthony’s corpse, he felt it in real time, DEATH.
He couldn’t react, he couldn’t move, he couldn’t tap into his Law in time, everything seemed to fail at this moment, after all, he had completely let down his guard after killing his opponent, which everyone usually does.
Nature’s Savant felt his head decapitate from his neck as a palm shaped like a sword cut through his neck with chilling precision. Nature’s Savant felt his life flash before his eyes as he approached his True End.
But as his head soared into the air, just centimeters away from his neck and body, an artefact he wore around his neck that was hidden within his robes immediately activated, and the next instant, Reality, Existence, and Order itself seemed to glitch as the next moment, a part of his neck reattached to his head.
It wasn’t a full reattachment, but just enough to keep him alive, his head hanging loosely from his neck. But to Nature’s Savant and any Eternal Apex, that was enough. He tapped into his Law Of Nature and vanished from where he stood as he shifted through Space and Time.
Anthony’s body reappeared, blood painting his gauntlet, he couldn’t help but wear an expression of frustration as he clicked his tongue. He had killed his opponent, severed his head completely, it was supposed to be a win, but clearly, his opponent had some type of life-saving, reality-altering, and warping artefact ready for the moment of his death.
And indeed, Nature’s Savant had such an artefact. The necklace around his neck was an artefact that altered reality within the span of a single split second, as long as his death was a physical type of death. Meaning if he died by decapitation, the necklace artefact would alter Reality and Order to grant him a chance to live, not necessarily bringing him to full health, as Nature’s Savant had to do that with his own abilities.
But, if he died through things like Soul Manipulation and abilities, or a Curse, the artefact remained inactive. The artefact’s power was limited, but it was effective.
Eternal Apexes weren’t so easily dealt with.
Anthony turned around and gazed at the Eternal Apex who was floating in the air as green energy wiggled around his neck, as obviously he had healed himself. Although he had lived for an unknown amount of years, he still very much clung to life.
Nature’s Savant wore a huge frown as he imagined his death. His life-saving artefact was a one-time use, meaning it was useless from this point on, and he had no more life-saving artefacts, after all, artefacts that could save the life of beings on his level were extremely rare.
He immediately understood that Anthony had substituted himself with some sort of perfect clone that even he, an Eternal Apex, hadn’t seen through. He couldn’t help but click his tongue at his own carelessness, if this was a real battlefield, he wouldn’t have let his guard down, he had only done that because Anthony was his only opponent and they were in a special realm where no other beings or enemies existed.
And now, he had paid the price by losing his life and his life-saving artefact.
As they stared at each other, black eyes meeting sky-blue ones, Nature’s Savant began to speak for the first time since the battle started.
"I will give you some credit, Null Anthony," his tone calm despite literally just dying a moment ago, "you are as stubborn as your Ancestor, but even he wasn’t this outrageous during his early days," he continued calmly as he floated in the air, "but, do you know the difference between an Eternal Apex and a Progenitor cultivator? Do you know why we are called Pseudo-Higher Entities and why people are stuck at the Progenitor for over a million years without stepping through into the Eternal Apex realm?" He asked as though he was giving a lecture.
Anthony couldn’t help but give a smile as he spoke, "I don’t know, how about you tell me?" His tone was calm and indifferent despite the smile.
Nature’s Savant returned the smile as he stated, "It’s more of a demonstration, really..." He paused for a moment, then added, "one that ends with your death, and I will quite enjoy it." The moment those words left his lips, the entire Divine Realm seemed to react.
The Laws within the entire Divine Realm seemed to freeze for a moment as the air seemed to turn frigid, as though something was coming. Nature’s Savant’s hands moved, his palms coming together as his middle finger wrapped around his index finger, and his ring finger wrapped around his pinky finger. As he made the signs with both hands, he clapped his hands together as his tone echoed through the entire Divine Realm.
Law Personification: Curse Of Nature.
The moment the technique was activated, the Divine Realm itself seemed to change forcefully, as though Anthony had lost control over it and whatever power that Nature’s Savant had just activated was forcefully taking control over it.
And indeed it was, as the next moment, an unknown force pulsed outwards into the infinite distance as the various Laws that hummed in the air within the Divine Realm seemed to change the next instant, forcefully twisting into the Law Of Nature.
Trees grew even taller and stronger, stretching towards the heavens themselves, Mountains rose towards the sky, Oceans roared as waves echoed with endless rage, Wind screamed and became choking as everything that was connected to the power of Law seemed to instantly become stronger and gave off a feeling of killing intent.
Behind Nature’s Savant, an ethereal woman that was pure green and seemed to be made of pure leaves appeared, she floated behind him as she embraced him from behind. And in that instant, Nature’s Savant seemed to lose his Physical body as his body seemed to become the Law Of Nature itself, his body becoming smoky green as he gave off the feeling of an ancient being.
