Chapter 1350: Brief Midnight Exercise
Chapter 1350: Brief Midnight Exercise
Taking a night bath and changing into more comfortable clothes, Anthony lay on his bed and dozed off without a shred of care. He wasn’t half-asleep, nor was he pretending to sleep; he was truly asleep. Although it might seem foolish to sleep at a moment like this, it didn’t matter because of his absurd senses.
As he slept, the walls of the room seemed to ripple like the surface of water. Through the walls, five people wearing nothing but black, assassin-like clothes stepped in. The moment the six entered, one of them took out an orb and crushed it. The moment the orb shattered, reality seemed to dissolve as the entire room warped. The bed vanished as another layer of space overlapped the inn room.
Anthony now lay on his bed within an area filled with nothing but dead bodies, as though this was the dumping site for everyone the six assassins had killed. The corpses numbered in the hundreds, each of them still fresh and undecayed, as though the realm preserved them.
The moment they appeared within the realm, the six moved at the same time. Twelve daggers screamed through the air, aiming for various parts of Anthony’s body. As the attacks were about to connect, Anthony’s body vanished as though he had never been there.
With a booming sound, the bed exploded into a shower of cotton, and the bedframe shattered into wooden splinters that scattered through the air.
"It seems you guys finally decided to make your move," Anthony spoke groggily. "Even while I’ve been sleeping, I’ve been waiting for a while." He yawned as he spoke.
This was the reason he didn’t want the other Above disciples to be in his room, because he knew these people would make a move. After all, why cause a ruckus when he could handle things quietly? Then, they would fight for the treasures among themselves outside the River Of Night Territory.
As for the River Of Night investigation into Anthony’s overnight disappearance, why should they care?
As Anthony spoke, a shadow portal opened behind him as an assassin’s hand emerged from it, a dagger in its grip with the Law Of Darkness humming around the weapon. Anthony leaned to the side as he turned with ease, remaining suspended in midair. The dagger missed by the smallest margin. Anthony caught the assassin’s wrist, but before he could pull the assassin out of the shadow portal, the assassin turned into smoky shadow and vanished.
"Interesting, but boring nonetheless," Anthony spoke as the sleep in his eyes cleared completely.
He extended a finger forward, and the next instant, the Law Of Space came alive as he unleashed a titanic burst of gravitational force. The raw power slammed into everything before him, erasing whatever stood in its path. The preserved dead bodies were wiped out, while chunks of land tore apart under the immense pressure.
The six moved to dodge, their Law Of Darkness humming around them as they escaped in time. However, not all six succeeded. One of them was caught, the attack slamming into him with crushing force. The man spat out a mouthful of blood, staining his clothes, but the attack wasn’t enough to kill him.
As he prepared to move, unwilling to remain in one place, Anthony suddenly appeared in front of him with a smile on his face. His hand blurred as his palm met the man’s cheek with raw power. As the slap connected, the man’s head didn’t snap to the side as a slap should. No, his entire head was blown off his neck.
His headless corpse knelt down, then slumped forward, blood pouring onto the grass. As Anthony killed the first assassin, the rest didn’t care or slow down. The Law Of Darkness hummed around them as they created tentacles that wrapped around Anthony’s body like bindings.
Beneath Anthony’s feet, the ground turned pitch-black, as though the tentacles intended to drag him into whatever lay beneath it. But before the tentacles could pull him down, Anthony’s own Law Of Darkness came alive. His Embodiment-stage Law took control of their skill. With a thought, the dark tentacles left his body, and the pitch-black ground vanished.
The six assassins were stunned. This was the first time someone had taken control of their Laws. But before any of them could move, Anthony took a step with a smile. He appeared before one of them, his finger moving like a claw as he swiped across the throat of the second assassin.
Blood splattered into the air. The man held his throat, trying to stop the blood from leaking, but it was useless. Anthony’s hand moved again, and with sickening ease, his claw-like fingers tore through half of the man’s head as though he were a beast rather than a human.
The assassin fell to the side, half of his brain matter and blood splattering across the air and ground, but Anthony was already gone.
"Were you here to kill me?" he spoke as the third assassin bumped into him. "Why are you running, then?" he asked.
Before the assassin could create another technique, he heard a tearing sound, and cold suddenly invaded his body. He looked down to see a bloodied hand tearing through his chest from the back. In the palm of the hand was a beating heart; his heart.
Anthony pulled his hand back with ease. He stared at the gaping hole with a smile, then turned around, his fingers clenching as he squashed the heart in his grip. He flicked his hand, and the blood staining his palm splattered onto the dirt.
Three down, three to go.
The remaining three could only watch in horror. They had thought this would be an easy job. They were supposed to kill someone at the Perfection Star Monarch Realm, but judging from the speed, power, and cultivation stage being displayed, they knew at that instant that their information was wrong.
As Anthony’s sky-blue eyes landed on the fourth assassin, the man moved on instinct, driven by fear. But before he could truly escape, Anthony tapped into the attraction of the Law Of Space. The assassin felt his body move against his will as he tapped into his Law Of Darkness, attempting to vanish from his position.
However, the moment he reappeared in a new location, Anthony was already there. He had read the path of his movement through Law Resonance and Origin Essence Sense. The assassin was stunned, but before he could even blink, Anthony’s hand blurred against his chest in a horizontal swing.
With another flesh-ripping sound, the man’s upper body was torn away from his chest upwards. That portion of his body soared through the air before hitting the ground, blood splattering onto Anthony’s pajamas. However, Infinity activated, and the blue blood bounced off space itself.
The remaining two immediately tried to escape and leave the realm entirely, but alas, Anthony wasn’t that merciful. Through his Embodiment-stage Law Of Space, he seized control of the entire realm and halted their escape.
The two paused in horror. They couldn’t move as Anthony froze them in place through the Law Of Space, then walked towards them in slow steps.
"In your next life, investigate your target carefully," Anthony stated.
As those words left his lips, gravity spiked, and both of them were instantly compressed. Their heads sank into their bodies in a horrific manner, followed by the rest of their bodies, until they collapsed into masses of flesh.
Anthony stared at the lumps of flesh, then shook his head and vanished, his figure reappearing within his room. With a wave of his hand, Thought Conception activated, and he instantly created a new bed and bedframe. He lay on it yet again and fell asleep after his brief midnight exercise.
