Chapter 4442: It Must Be True
Chapter 4442: It Must Be True
"Prime Arys, the village is in danger. Itornas has attacked," informed Prime Karamiv. Hearing that, I sighed.
"They couldn’t do that in the morning," I said. As I only got two and a half hours of sleep, which is barely enough, but I got up.
A moment later, every impurity sticking to the body vaporised, and clothed appeared, before armor covered it.
Itornas’ attack is common, but when they do, the whole village needs to be readied
A few times a decade, they attack with a large force, with not just the monsters, but also the hosts. They are not a big threat, but one needs to be ready to deal with them.
I was out of the cottage in a second and took to the sky immediately, where I saw Prime Avana and Rava moving toward the western gate.
"I hate it when they attack at night," said Prime Avana. "Me too," I replied.
"I am going to join this battle, and these bastards would pay for disturbing my sleep," she said, and I nodded at that. I also agree with the bastards.
Though I’m looking forward to getting a few bodies for the plant.
It had helped it more than I had thought. As for the host, they might give an amazing increase in strength, but I would rather not fight them in front of these people.
They are extremely dangerous. Fighting them would be revealing my abilities.
With these people getting out, they would spread it. Though I had plans and ways to cloak the move that might associate me with my former identity, it is still a risk.
Soon, we reached near the western gate where people were gathering.
Even the cultist begin to gather in a group behind their leader, but they are standing in a way. One could clearly see how wary they are of each other.
They are allies of convenience and wouldn’t hesitate to turn on each other if the opportunity arose.
I could see many familiar people. Some just looked, while others glared and smiled.
I looked at the rift that began to form; it was very close to the village.
It’s a line right now, but feeling its power, it wouldn’t take long for it to open enough that large monsters would be able to travel through it.
"How many monsters, do you think, will come this time?" asked Chef Baras.
"Tweny balvis fruits says, eighty-two," said Prime Avana. "I would say sixty-eight," replied the other. They begin to make their bet for the pool.
They do it nearly every time, the itornas attack. It’s one of the ways they keep themselves entertained.
"Prime Arys?" he asked as he appeared in front of me. "Fifty-six," I replied. I have no interest in betting, but since everyone is doing it and he asked, I bet as well.
Seconds passed, and the rift had finally begun to open, and soon, it had become huge enough that monsters could come in.
We waited for the monsters to come, and finally, we saw the silhouette coming through it. It’s not that of the monster.
"Fuck me!" people around me cursed, and I shuddered.
A person came out, and a woman, a granite stone skin, and the strangest thing about her was that she didn’t have any features aside from the small mouth.
It didn’t have pus coming out, because it had already formed the armor around it, but it’s not the fusion mode.
It happened with one itornas only. The one that is master, and it is master according to the information. This is its third time coming out in this millennium.
Whenever it does, the village faces an existential threat, because it brings the full force of the itornas.
"Gather," said Prime Karamiv, and immediately cultists moved toward us, merging with our ranks with their leader standing beside Karamiv.
My eyes didn’t move, and they are focused on the rifts.
From there, the hosts begin to come out, and within seconds, their numbers have reached twenty, and they are still coming in.
They kept coming in, and soon their numbers reached fifty, breaking the past records where the highest were only forty-one hosts.
Two more came and nothing further, making people sigh in relief.
That is not the end, because after that, the monsters begin to emerge. While it happened, I felt the power from the village, like the slumbering beast awakening from a long sleep.
There is a vast formation covering the village, running deep with thousands of tools and the vast power that had gathered for centuries.
I could see Prime Rava moving to the hospital along with the healers.
They won’t be fighting on the frontline because they will be needed in the back. I could see the woman, Prime Karamiv, looking, but seeing her unmoving, he just sighed.
Prime Mirna is an artificer, alchemist, and also a healer, but it seemed like she was going to fight in the battle.
Though she sent things toward Prime Rava, seeing that, I did it as well. The crafted ones, not by me, but others, will still be useful in killing infections.
I would have taken the risks and provided more resources, but I don’t need to.
These people are very well prepared. There is a large stock of resources to deal with infection and other itornas related injuries.
The only thing they won’t deal with is Itornas’ position. Its why all the primes drank the vials that appeared in front of them, including me.
It makes possession difficult, not for long, but enough to give one a 10% chance to survive.
People will need everything they could survive on. The number of hosts is high, and so is the number of monsters; greater than the last two times.
They have come prepared, and for a moment, I thought it was my fault, but I soon shook that thought away.
It wouldn’t launch such a big attack with just a dying host’s message. The reason must be big enough to make them attack with their full force.
"Both of the groups came together. So, it must be true that you have forged the tool to get out of the realm," it spoke in an enchantingly melodic voice, before turning its head toward the gate at the village square.
