Chapter 4519: Out of the Lake
Chapter 4519: Out of the Lake
I reached the surface of the lake, but by the time I did. Things have become very chaotic.
The shaking is so bad that waves begin to form across the surface. Crashing against the hills; it’s good that Dynvar had gone back, or it would have been terrible for her.
Things were bad when I was under the lake, but now they seemed worse.
’Fuck!’ I cursed in my heart.
As of now, there are not only freaking waves on the surface, but also a lot of monsters.
I want to panic like these monsters. Instead, I kept myself calm and looked around. I hate to say it, but given the state of the monsters, swimming toward the shore is a bad idea.
The monsters are panicked, and they are attacking everything on sight, including each other.
That doesn’t mean I should stay in the lake. No, what I meant was that I shouldn’t actively swim and increase my chances of getting discovered.
Instead, I should let the waves drag me toward the shore.
They are chaotic and coming from all sides, but with a little bit of adjustment, they will take me to shore.
So, I stopped resisting and only resisted when the waves tried to take me deeper into the lake.
It’s not as easy as it sounds. Especially when I passed close to the raging monsters. A moment ago, I barely avoided the attack of monsters which is madly throwing corruption blasts everywhere.
’I should have studied the tool and whole schematic,’ I thought as the wave pushed me forward.
I should have asked that when we began the travel toward the place. These schematics are complex and would have needed several days of study.
I pushed those thoughts away and focused on my situation.
A minute passed and another, and I am getting closer to the shore when something gets close to me—the bright light lotus.
I acted before I could even think, and strings moved out of me and picked up the plant, before pulling it inside.
The lotus is powerful, but it has no will of its own. If there had been a monster in its domain. It would have been harder to pull, but it was unoccupied due to all the chaos.
I can’t believe I have got my hands on one.
I wanted it, but seeing the monsters around, I threw away the thoughts, but now I have one. In my storage, into the pool of corruption, I had created.
I had absorbed a lot of it and was still doing it. Already, a small lake of it had been formed from it.
Raor Raor!
There might not be a monster, but the monsters have discovered the sudden disappearance of it and begin to roar with their presence stretching to find it.
I didn’t move and let the waves move me. I didn’t even resist when some waves pushed me into the lake.
I didn’t want to do anything that would upset the monsters. So, I remained where I am until vigilance shifted and I once more began to move with the waves.
A few minutes passed, and once more strings came out. Not for the lotus’s.
A couple of them had appeared nearly, but every one of them had at least one moster. I didn’t want to take the risk.
The strings are for monsters; they bear a symbiotic relationship with the loti.
I could grow them without it, but I don’t want to take the risk with only one lotus. So, I want the monsters.
I could do the experiment with the seeds, but that will come later. I will first have to snare a couple of monsters, but it’s not easy.
Most of them are strong; even the weakest one here could easily kill Dynvar’s grandmother.
I sensed one of the weakest monsters, and my strings bound it. It was not easy; I had to move with a monster, despite the fear of getting discovered.
Finally, I fully bound it and pulled it into my core.
Seeing that, a smile couldn’t help but appear on my face, but the next moment, my expression turned somber. One is not enough; I would need at least three, and five would be really good.
Some might not be able to adjust to the core, and I might monsters for loti produced from the seeds.
So, I move to find other monsters. It wasn’t easy, but I found them.
With three monsters in my storage, I resumed letting the waves take me toward the shore once more.
Minutes passed, and I had reached near the shore when I felt the shakes getting weaker. They got weaker fast; by the time minutes passed, they had stopped entirely.
They may have stopped, but the lake is far from calm.
The monsters are still roaring and attacking each other. Seeing that, I didn’t dare to move despite being so close to the shore.
I remained where I am and just watched.
It took fifteen minutes before things started to calm down. It was another twenty minutes later that I started swimming toward the shore very slowly.
It took me some time, but I had finally reached the edge of the lake and ever so slowly got out of it, with stark changes appearing inside my armor.
It looked the same, but a lot of changes had appeared. There is a huge difference between the lake and the land.
The corruption here feels like a child’s plaything compared to what I had thought inside the lake.
I am beyond relieved to have gotten out of the lake. After the changes in my armor were finished, I began to make my way across the hill, reaching the top a few minutes later.
I looked around, before starting walking toward the place that Dynvar had said she would be hiding.
It had been a while since I entered the lake. I don’t know if she is there. The lake had created quite a chaos, and some of the monsters got out.
I wouldn’t blame her if she had left. I might have done the same if I had been in her face.
