Chapter 266: Visit the Neighbor
Chapter 266: Visit the Neighbor
An appearance like this was probably meant for a formal event or something similar.
Richard wondered what had made Lilith dress this way.
Was she going to meet someone?
But who could it be that she had to look even more beautiful?
Richard began to feel somewhat uncomfortable.
On the other hand, Lilith, who saw Richard, gave a faint smile.
"Change into something better," she said.
"Sister Lilith, where are we going?" Richard asked.
Since she had told him to change clothes as well, it meant she wanted him to go with her.
"Where else? We’re going to visit our new neighbors," Lilith replied.
"What do you mean?" Richard could not have been more puzzled when he heard that.
After all, he glanced at the ark above when she mentioned their new neighbors.
"Just follow me," Lilith answered.
And she truly wasn’t talking nonsense.
As he followed her, Richard realized she was heading nowhere else but toward the ark above.
He thought she was crazy, but how could he possibly let Lilith go there alone? He had no choice but to keep following.
Although the ark was enormous, it wasn’t difficult for them to circle around it and fly higher until they could see its upper section.
However, unlike ordinary arks, even its top was sealed by a steel roof resembling a turtle shell, with only a single gate that couldn’t even be considered large.
"Why would the strongest faction live in such an enclosed place?" Richard said in confusion.
This looked more like a refuge for cowardly fugitives.
"This ark is the most powerful artifact," Lilith replied.
"It conceals a Hidden World as vast as the Land of Human."
"What? That vast?" Richard found it hard to believe.
Just the Eastern Region of the Land of Human was already this huge, giving him plenty of room to grow without going to other regions.
Because of that, he couldn’t even estimate how vast the Land of Human truly was. How could a Hidden World be that large?
"The Heaven Emperor Grand Sovereign is the most terrifying of them all. We cannot imagine his methods," Lilith said before flying toward the gate and landing right in front of it.
Apparently, when someone appeared there, a faint luminous figure manifested—a spirit-like entity tasked with guarding the gate.
"What is your purpose?" the spirit asked indifferently, as if viewing everyone outside their faction as inferior.
"I am Lilith Holystar, ruler of the Holy Star Kingdom. I request permission to visit and meet the Lord of the Heaven Emperor," Lilith answered politely, unbothered by the spirit’s condescending attitude.
Upon hearing her identity, the spirit did not refuse.
"I will report first," it said, then disappeared.
Lilith waited patiently.
It took quite a while. More than half an hour passed before the spirit returned.
"Lord permits you to enter," it said, and the gate began to open, revealing a vast white space with a long staircase leading to a silver palace floating in the air.
It wasn’t very large, but its radiance was dazzling.
"Go there," the spirit ordered indifferently.
Richard felt annoyed, but he chose to follow Lilith, who showed no anger at all.
They climbed the long staircase until they reached the entrance, which had already opened.
It wasn’t a palace with a throne. The hall looked more like a meeting chamber with a large round table.
An old man sat in one of the seats, accompanied by several young men. One of them sat beside the old man—a young man with jet-black hair and eyes like a dark abyss.
He was still a Lord, but perhaps already at his peak.
Even so, the sense of threat Richard felt from him was overwhelming.
From his appearance, he guessed he was the Dark Abyss Young Master.
His eyes looked toward Richard, yet showed no emotion.
Meanwhile, the old man smiled at Lilith.
"You have grown so quickly. It’s a pity you refused to fight for the World Magic Aether, or we would have supported you," he said to her.
Richard was slightly surprised to hear that.
It seemed the two of them already knew each other.
And apparently, Lilith had once been invited to join the Order of the Heaven Emperor.
"I did not wish to be bound to a difficult life," Lilith said. "Perhaps becoming the Grand Sovereign’s wife in this era is not so bad either."
She smiled as she added that, causing the young men behind the old man to frown.
"Mr. Madison, I did not come to talk about this," she continued before the old man could speak again.
Richard gave her a strange look.
She looked so beautiful—he had thought she would act modestly, but it seemed she simply couldn’t.
"Please, have a seat," the old man said, apparently unbothered by Lilith’s attitude.
Lilith sat across from him, and Richard tried to sit beside her, only to find the chair suddenly vanish.
"No one asked you to sit," the Dark Abyss Young Master said coldly.
Richard was stunned, unable to say a word.
Yet even the old man remained silent, as if he did not mind the young man’s action.
With the host refusing him a seat, Richard, as a guest, could only remain standing.
Although Lilith was surprised, she chose not to make an issue of it.
This was not the right time.
"So, Holystar Queen, what brings you here?" the Lord of the Heaven Emperor asked formally, addressing Lilith by her official title.
"Since we are new neighbors, it is only natural for me to visit. I merely wish to discuss the security of my territory," Lilith replied.
"After all, I know your members will certainly wander around. It is impossible for them to remain here after arriving in the outside world."
"We do not forbid our members from roaming..." the Lord of the Heaven Emperor nodded.
"However, our members have been well educated. They will not trouble anyone who does not trouble them. If conflict occurs, it can be certain that it is not our members’ fault," he said.
Richard didn’t know how to react upon hearing that.
How could someone make such a ridiculous claim?
