Chapter 303: Yin Devouring
Chapter 303: Yin Devouring
Richard had to admit that Olivia was truly skilled with words.
However, he still remembered just how cunning this woman was.
"Why did you run away back then?" he asked.
"Run away? When?" The woman looked confused—or rather, she was pretending to be confused.
"Hmph!" Richard snorted softly.
Back then, he had asked her to help divert everyone’s attention by pretending to rob him so that no one would suspect he had inherited the Dragon Knight’s legacy.
Olivia had proposed another plan involving William Anderson, but it failed because William refused to rob him.
Instead of meeting Richard again afterward, she simply disappeared.
"Gray, how dare you!"
Olivia suddenly shouted at Gray.
"Little Brother, stay behind me. Let me deal with this brat. He needs to learn just how terrifying our Skylight Clan is," Olivia said to Richard, leaving him unsure whether to laugh or cry.
Gray did indeed seem intent on attacking him, but he still hadn’t made a move.
Ever since earlier, he had already been glaring at Richard with murderous intent.
Still, he was the type of man who preferred an open fight and wouldn’t strike before his opponent was ready.
"You intend to protect him?" Gray asked Olivia.
"Of course. I have to protect my cousin. Anyone who wants to hurt him will face my revenge," Olivia replied, announcing it for everyone to hear.
"Very good."
Gray’s anger visibly intensified.
"You all, what are you waiting for? Beat this bastard up!"
Carla suddenly shouted at the younger members of the Order of the Crimson Veil, including Charles.
Hearing that, they exchanged glances.
It was Carla’s command.
They had no choice.
Whoosh! Whoosh!
They immediately charged toward Gray.
Charles frowned slightly, clearly reluctant to do so because it meant helping his own enemy.
But refusing would bring him serious consequences.
Both he and his kingdom were tied to the Order of the Crimson Veil.
Bang!
In the end, he also rushed toward Gray with his full strength.
Gray’s expression darkened.
Facing all the younger members of the Order of the Crimson Veil at once, he was immediately overwhelmed and left powerless.
"Boy, don’t you dare fight me yourself?" he shouted while blocking attack after attack.
Unfortunately, Richard was the flexible type.
When others were willing to handle something for him, he had no intention of doing it himself.
At the same time, Olivia suddenly signaled to the members of the Skylight Clan.
Without hesitation, they also charged toward Gray.
With their addition, Gray immediately fled into the distance.
(Foolish boy who doesn’t know what he possesses.)
Suddenly, Richard heard the skeleton inside the Dragon Hall speak.
(What do you mean?) he asked curiously.
Apparently, the skeleton knew what kind of power Gray possessed.
(The Codex of Yin Devouring. It’s a Codex capable of absorbing the power of women. Every woman has hidden Yin Power within her. The amount differs from person to person, but high-quality women generally possess more of it, especially while they remain virgins. If only half is absorbed, it won’t affect the women. Moreover, some of their powers will diminish. Once they lose all of their Yin Power, they die. For men, Yin Power can be used to strengthen many aspects of themselves.)
(Oh...)
Richard wore a strange expression.
So that was the power Gray had been using.
(Does this Codex have any side effects?)
(Madness. This is merely a failed Codex. Otherwise, it would be the greatest shortcut to becoming stronger.)
No wonder, Richard thought.
Gray really did seem to be descending into madness.
(Is there any way to save him?) he asked.
As far as Richard could tell, Gray had probably used the Codex without knowing it would end like this.
He likely believed it would simply make him stronger.
Had he known the final outcome, who would have willingly chosen such a path?
If Gray were just a stranger, Richard wouldn’t have cared.
But Gray was an old friend.
Naturally, he didn’t want to see him end up insane.
(Pull out his root!) the skeleton answered briefly.
Richard was confused for a moment before quickly understanding.
He didn’t know whether to laugh or cry.
(Will he lose his madness after that?)
(Yes. He will also lose the power he gained from the Codex of Yin Devouring.)
(I see...)
Richard watched Gray fleeing while being pursued by members of the Order of the Crimson Veil and the Skylight Clan.
Naturally, Richard wasn’t about to do something like pulling out another man’s root himself.
However, he could capture Gray first and leave that task to someone else—Laura, Gray’s girlfriend.
After thinking for a moment, he entered Void Mode, causing everyone to forget about him.
Even Gray suddenly looked confused about why he was being chased.
Richard needed only a few moments to arrive beside him.
The instant he appeared, his arm wrapped firmly around Gray’s neck.
"You?"
Gray’s eyes widened.
"Gray, if you’ve become like this just because you wanted to surpass me, then remember this forever—it will never happen!" Richard declared arrogantly.
Immediately afterward, he absorbed Gray into the Dragon Hall.
Once inside, Gray would no longer be able to cause trouble.
And if he tried, he would have to be prepared to get beaten up by the skeleton.
That single action caused the entire city to draw a sharp breath.
It reminded everyone of the title Richard had carried as a child.
The Wonder Boy.
"Brother Richard, you’re amazing. You’re destined to be invincible," Carla said excitedly as she approached him.
Richard smiled at her words.
"Little Brother, come with me to the Skylight Clan. You should see your home and meet your father."
Olivia extended an invitation for him to visit the Skylight Clan.
Richard was naturally interested.
But just as he was about to answer, his eyes shifted toward the gate of the World of Death.
His shock was impossible to hide when he saw a young woman with black hair and straight-cut bangs.
Her pale white skin seemed to glow beneath the dark night.
Who else could it be but Grace?
Her appearance alone wasn’t what shocked everyone.
It was because she was carrying the corpses of two men.
The crowd gasped upon recognizing them.
Sean and Roland Thundervale.
The two brothers of the Thundervale Clan.
How could this not be astonishing?
The complete absence of any aura from them made it obvious that they were dead.
No Magus would mistake a living person for a corpse.
Whoosh! Whoosh!
Grace casually tossed the two bodies aside, as though she wanted the entire world to witness what she had done.
After that, she left immediately, disappearing from sight.
Richard frowned.
How could she not come to him?
Perhaps it was understandable that she didn’t want to meet him in front of so many people.
But Grace hadn’t even looked at him.
A deeply unsettling feeling immediately arose within Richard.
Grace seemed to have changed.
